Fascinating! You have a knack for isolating all the planes of the swing ---something that never occured to this aspiring to be retired family man semi annual hacker turned weekly golfer
i love this drill Steve. I've been using it for months now while on the course. It fixes my faults instantly . I just have to remember to do it ! Thanks again.
Steve, I’d be interested to hear if you think Fred Couples used the compound pivot (especially in the early 90s) and if if he “throws” the club as Mike Austin did. I believe Fred has a bunch of Austin in his swing. What say you? Perhaps you could do a video where you compare Austin to Couples. I’d love to see it!
Exactly my thoughts!! This occurred to me when i was completely transfixed by some slo-mo Freddie videos and could not help but notice his chicken wing right elbow---a "forbidden" move i always overheard the "experts" correcting on the range growing up. AND then I watched Mr. Austin in the skeleton with the same exact chicken wing right! And the icing on the cake was when he emphatically said something like this is the most miscorrected aspect of the swing....oh and the other glaring similarity to me at least is how each of their right knees beat the clubhead to impact like a boss every single time.
hey Steve great info. Can you do a video using that stand at 3:05? or do you have one you can recommend? i want to build that at home and try it out, I have the tendency to get my hands moving out from top of swing.
Hi Steve, thanks for this. It sounds very familiar. Monte Scheinblum’s 2009 video uses a similar concept: ruclips.net/video/-FH5r5_tROU/видео.html cheers from Oz.
Swinging from "toe up to toe up" should really only happen when you stand upright. When you are bend foreword the toe of the clubhead is sqare to the target line.

Great to hear!
Steve, do you do this drill all the way through the bag to driver?
