I'm always on the lookout for a good one for sale. I'm always on the lookout for a good one, but because of the price, I haven't been able to buy one.
I rarely play instruments, but I would love to have a Navigator JazzBass....
I'm going to take a blade to that guitar, strip the paint, replace the frets...
I'll do it...
So, I refinished a Navigator Les Paul type guitar with oil finish.
The customer who asked me to refinish his guitar had seen my previous video.

She also asked me to use the color of Laura Cox's signature model.
Oil finishing is one of my favorite things to do, so I'm glad he asked me to do it.
Oil finish may look easy to do, but it takes a lot of time and effort if you want to get the best quality.
The color of the body top is black, which is colored with stain.
I wanted to show more of the wood grain, so I used an alcohol-based stain to give it a transparent look, and stroked it with 3000 paper to emphasize the reddish brown grain of the maple.
After scraping, I polished it with stain, solvent, and many other things.
The head had cracks in the paint, so I filled in the bumps and did some airbrush touch-ups.
The whole thing was then sprayed with clear lacquer and finally finished with a matte clear lacquer.
The lacquer was applied just in time for the season, so I was very nervous.
The original paint seemed to be urethane, which was a bit more difficult to remove than polyurethane paint, so it was a bit of a challenge.
I didn't have the tools to remove the stud bolts from the tune-automatic, so I made them out of water pipe and large washers I had at home.
If you have the money, you can buy a special tool from Stu Mac.
I thought the serial number on the head was engraved, but it turned out to be a stamp.
I bought a new stamp and stamped it with indestructible ink (they don't call it that anymore).
Shachihata's infinity stamp? It's good. I like it.
Here's the first part.
Since my MacBook Pro and external SSD couldn't take it anymore due to too much video shooting, I had to split it into two parts.

いいですよね～…Navigatorのレスポール１本持ってます。
メインで使ってるのがTokaiレスポールなので、国産レスポールはもういらないと思ってたんですが
地元の某楽器店さんで「お兄さん、イイの入ってるよ笑」と言われて弾かせてもらったのがそいつでした笑
サウンド、フィーリング、どこを取っても完璧で、弾いてるうちに手放せなくなり購入に踏み切った思い出のギターです笑
非常に丁寧に作り込まれてる印象のギターですね。今なお大切に弾いてます。
一本は持っておきたい・・・いや、一本あれば一生・・・3生くらい使える素晴らしいギターだと思います。

Will this technique work on Polyurethane as well as the Nitrocellulose lacquer?

I don't understand what you did to the headstock after airbrushing color on it. It looks like you are using a heat gun to dry it and make it uniform. Does the new paint melt into the old paint like nitrocellulose or did you spray a clear coat over it?

Two questions. What did you mix with the Stewmac dye? What type of oil did you use? Looks great. I’ve only worked with Tru-oil and solid paints so far.

What I mixed (diluted) with Stewmac dye is anhydrous ethanol.
If you wear a mask, I think fuel alcohol will be fine.
Anhydrous ethanol is better, though.
The oil is a secret. I'm sorry.
I mix a lot of things.
I think Tru-oil will be fine.
If you want more durability, I would recommend a two-component oil.
Hi Andy, what stamps do you use for making ESP serial number? I watched Shachihata XTENSIONS but it looks different font. Your is more similar to ESP

The old paint is lacquered.
I think most of the Navigator guitars were lacquered.

プラモデル用ラッカー塗料と2液型ウレタン仕上げ剤を持っています。
もしこのようなプラモデル用の製品も使用できますか？
そしてstewmacや海外映像では塗装 ->瞬間接着剤剃刀に着替えて、サポ光沢作業の順番で進めたのですが、どれがいいのか気になります。

アルコールステインを薄めたのは普通の無水エタノールです。
アルコールステインなので、アルコール系の溶剤であればなんでもいいと思います。臭くないので無水エタノールにしました。高価ですが…
アルコールステインは一般的なオイルステインや、水性ステインより、透明度が高いです。
なので木目をより透けて着色することができます。なので使っています。
オイルステインは正直使ったことがないのですが、普通のオイルフィニッシュと考えればプライマーなどは使いません。エアブローしたらそのまま塗り込みます。(たぶん)
what temperature does your air-gun have? i'm planning to buy one for removing paint/finish. and i'm afraid to burn the guitar :)
I don't know the temperature.
I set it to the lowest temperature at which the paint can come off.

NAVIGATORの塗装はGibsonと違って柔らかいとか何か違いは感じますか？
この子の場合はポリ塗装でしたので、ギブソンのラッカーとは比べられません。
ポリのどうしの厚さで言えばNavigatorのほうが薄く感じました。また、そういう個体だったのかもしれません。
Navigatorと比べたわけではないですが、ギブソンのラッカーは過疎化剤が多く柔らかいと聞きますね。
ひび割れ難くくいい塗装といえばいい塗装なのですが。
Those navigators are one of the few Les Paul copies that are actually better than a Les Paul. Cost a mint though. Usually 2-3 times a Les Paul USA .
reverb has used ones for pretty good prices sometimes
@@muletsag300 yeah, rarely a decent one will pop up. The customs are really pricey if you can find one. But really nice guitars.

この子はウレタンでしたね。ウレタン系の方が剥がしやすいです。
温度とスクレイパーの加減ですーっと剥がれるときは剥がれます。
逆にラッカーの方が剥がしにくい場合もありますね。
