76 years old..he transformed snooker and darts….and he is still pushing…love him to bits…fantastic interview Phil giving Barry every moment to speak..top drawer.
cheers mate
Yes transformed it by robing his players and only looking after certain people just like his son dose in boxing why do you think the dazone is doing a deal with Frank Warren because it won't be long and Eddie will be out of boxing it goes to show Frank Warren is better look at all the Frank Warren Fighters they knock the s*** out of all of these in the 5 v 5 he has ruined darts snooker he ruins everything all he thinks about is grabbing players money
He never shuts up..... nevermind giving him the time bro
transformed snooker from popular pastime to now finished in Britain ....world champs clocked in at under 100 000 viewers last year compared to 3 million in 1983
@@alanhargreaves-thevoiceofr2361
thats a lie lol, the 2024 world championship had 3.35 million viewers
For an elderly man Barry seems still very bright and focussed.Cheers what you are doing for the sports we love mr Hearn...enjoy all the things you do!!!
You have to admit Barry is an incredible promoter every thing he touched turns to gold just look what he's down for snooker he could charm the birds out of the trees and he only seems to be getting better .
Listened to this the other night on a walk. Just to say thanks to Phil for these longer interviews, and quite often he doesn't side step the awkward questions either. Credit to the fella.
Great Interview, Barry Hearn has done so much for the sport.
Great interview
👏👏 fantastic job ''on~line'' darts 👏👏
Cheers buddy thank you
awesome interview. Of all the people that own and run sports I have never heardsomeone as more grounded and visionary. When I listern to him I can see the vision and hear the love he has for the game. If it wasn't for him aussie Darts wouldn't have grown as it does
That was a really good interview, Hearn gave a great insight into how those who run the PDC think and it’s plans for the future.
I think matchroom should build the matchroom arena, it can hold darts, boxing and snooker. With that they can play everything there, pro tours and the world championship.
Brilliant Interview. As he says, go and prove me wrong. He's a straight talking guy that knows business inside out and for sure he wants the best, show the best and make money. Love it
Terrific interview. Well done Phil, and many thanks to Barry Hearn for educating the darts world about the PDC business model and the reasoning behind decisions.
Thank you mate
Great interview Phill 👍 Fascinating insights
Great scoop. Well done 👍🏼

Good interview Phil cheers
Nice one Phil
Cheers mate thank you
Great interview, one thing I would say is that everyone in round one, should get prize money, even of they lose. It should not be too easy, yet you have to make it better for those at the bottom
nope, only winner should have m money otherwise the sport wouldn't b e good
@@Anonymous20-j9x I disagree
Barry is a real gent and a legend. Great interview Phil!

Great interview
Sound quality's pretty woeful
Too much compression on the mic signal - can be tamed in post with the right ancillary audio plugins. Having said this there should be some settings on whatever app Phil is recording the mic with to yield less pumping of the signal while actually recording.
Why is the audio so bad?
Madison square garden was epic last summer I agree. This year will be better
Very Nice!!
Thank you
Imagine a world darts championship(PDC) where the winner is not determined by a drunken crowd booing whoever they dislike more.
imagine its empty and filled with a few rich saudis and hardly any core fans
@OCTA-g8t true but money talks as they say but to be honest having attended a few events live myself over the years the majority of the fans who watch in person are not hardcore darts fans anyway just people out on the piss for the night who are not even watching the darts always booing and whistling... I attended the Grand Slam the night Littler played De Decker and the crowd were awful.
If your a hardcore darts fan it's better to just watch all the events on TV at home imo...
@@nathan2497I totally agree. However, like all sport, it needs to attract a wide audience of fans for it to prosper.
In most sport, the crowd can't influence the players, and subsequent outcome like they can in darts.
Its getting the balance right, big crowds means big money, big profile for the game, but brings its problems.
@@nathan2497The whistlers are gamblers obviously
@dranderson6071 yes most of them would be definitely
What a legend he is
Think darts needs to stay in ally pally for as long as possible
It's the home of darts
I agree with you
The PDC being in bed with numerous gambling sites will eventually be the death of darts sadly. The UK is dying every day. Mom and pop stores going out if business and gambling shops being put in their place. I love the darts but I’m adult enough to know that gambling has killed millions of families. Cheers
Hearn has done an amazing job with darts but his rhetoric these days smacks of an exploitative industrialist. Even quoting Rockefeller! In what other profession does one of the best 100 in the world earn below the National average wage? And that’s before expenses come off. The statement about the dangers of rewarding mediocrity is insulting to some of those players when they’re already in the top 0.5% of the world at their trade. There’s easily sufficient money in “the pot” to ensure these people earn enough and if they’re not good enough they won’t sustain their position anyway. The reality is the “golden ticket” of Q School is a paper ticket that you can turn into a golden one if you make the top 16. Which only 16 people can do. It’s a zero sum game. You can still have intense competition and disproportionate rewards for the best of the best whilst ensuring a good lifestyle for the others. If sport was really about winning and competition, as preached, then why are Aspinall and Price in the Premier League when others have won much more in the last 12 months? It feels like the narrative is always an after-thought to explain what are purely Matchroom profit-driven decisions. Let’s see how much of the Sky money ends up with the players. The tour could do with an independent body to represent the players, and by “independent” I mean one that isn’t funded by the PDC!
Top interview
Cheers mate
Will this be avalible as a podcast ?
Yes mate will sort this evening
Ok 👍
. Sorry but top players are very boring without characters like Peter wright and MVG being great which he's not anymore it's the same guys every week and it's boring. Maybe change up a bit and try doubles and mixed pairs at least give us something different than predictable matches. Luke Littler has been great yeah but now they all want to practice together so now there's no confrontation or edgeness to a match they just want to slap hands and say good shot. Hopefully someone else from other nations are given a chance to compete
Agree ^ .
Littler is becoming boring sadly
I felt spoken to at 44:00
Always love the longer interviews but he’s a bit contradictory here. On the one hand he says the PDC isn’t built around one person or just The top players then he says 64 out of the 128 tour card cards are essentially mediocre and that’s the reason why they still need to work for a living.
I dont want it going to saudi but nobody can deny it has gone too big for the ally pally
This guy is the real deal.... Can see why he gave the boxing a miss in the end saw what was coming now he's focused on darts
focused on money ...he will drop darts like a ton of bricks when it no longer yields a profit
@alanhargreaves-thevoiceofr2361 aye im not saying he won't lool.... Just that at his age still knows what's what prefer him to frank lol and his son but there all money least he was born poor un like sliver spoon
I regards to the Grand Slam format: I vaguely remember in an interview a few months or even a year ago, Matt Porter mentioning something along the lines of one major in the fall season expanding/receiving a glow up in the near future. Could it mean a Grand Slam with 48 players?
We will soon see big darts tourdment at co op arena
and this is the reason why the pdc and Barry Hearn are so successful!!!…… had some professional dealings with him and Matt porter….. top professional s in their field and top bloke s
The tour is still not ready for 128 players
I reckon Co-Op Live is one (too big a jump?), but would big Bazza move it out of Larnden....
Not many historic venues with character and a bigger capacity than Alexandra Palace.
Think it's a big jump to start with mate
Needs somewhere they can take over for three weeks solid. Doubt that would be Co Op, its used too much for major artists.
@@idi0tdetectioninprogressgood point. I just don't think the 02 is right with it having the premier league finals. OVO arena I've never been so don't know much about it. Interesting to hear other venue options.
@@mancmackemmajor arena venues have things going on in December, I don't see how the calendar would allow for 3 weeks of darts. Thats, in my view, a big reason why the Ally Pally got it.
It needs a place to call home, an historic venue as you say, not a faceless arena, they're ok for premier league one nighters.
Pdc worlds at the co op arena
NCAA system for North American Darts?
Only the top 16 in Britain
From the crafty Scotsman ,
Im well made up with my walk on song in which all them know would win hands down by a country mile
Namely --> Its my chance to stand out from the Crowd " by none other than Rod the mod Stewart
now that would be something else . Barry Hearn you aint seen nothing yet. 3 x bullseyes me 🎯🎯🎯
A boom boom boom take that Hearn you could not handle me ..And whilst at it you would love as many have my Poetry
about my Darting prowess on the oche ..Its apt for me and you wont hear although would be mesmerised in my skills on the oche ..Its my turn to stand out from the crowd , this even although many are JEALOUS.
They know who they are . Hail hail 🖕
sending worlds of snooker and darts will be a disaster for fans, but nice for players pockets. who wants to see a world championship with no fans? Love Barry though
Darts won't go, it (needs) the drinking culture, its a huge part of the attraction and atmosphere.
Snooker doesn't need a crowd in the same way, plus the Crucible is going to be under serious pressure when the contract expires in a couple of years.
What about the woman
