  • Hello everyone and welcome to my vlog on these festive days! As medical students, we often get so busy with our studies and clinical rotations that we forget to take a break and have some fun. But today is a special day and we are going to indulge ourselves in the festivities.
Sinhalese New Year, generally known as Aluth Avurudda (Sinhala: අලුත් අවුරුද්ද) in Sri Lanka, is a Sri Lankan holiday that celebrates the traditional New Year of the Sinhalese people and Tamil population of Sri Lanka. It is a major anniversary celebrated by not only the Sinhalese and Tamil people but by most Sri Lankans. The timing of the Sinhala Tamil New Year coincides with the new year celebrations of many traditional calendars of South and Southeast Asia. The festival has close semblance to the Tamil New year and other South and Southeast Asian New Years. It is a public holiday in Sri Lanka . It is generally celebrated on 13 April or 14 April and traditionally begins at the sighting of the new moon. This is a great way to take a break from our busy schedules and have some fun. There is a sense of excitement in the air and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.
As medical students, we all know how important it is to take care of our mental health and well-being. Festivals like these are a great way to unwind and rejuvenate ourselves. We have been studying hard all year and now it's time to relax and have some fun.
Stress can take a toll on our physical and mental well-being. Taking a break and having some fun can help us to recharge and be more productive. It's important to find a balance between work and play, and festivals like these provide a perfect opportunity to do just that.
So, let's enjoy ourselves and make the most of this festive day. Let's forget about our studies and responsibilities for a while and immerse ourselves in the joy and excitement of the new year. Until next time, stay happy and healthy!
