The red indicator in the back plate of the gun is a STRIKER indicator and means the pistol is in a live/cocked condition. It IS NOT a loaded chamber indicator. Other than that, pretty good video. I've had the tan version since they were 1st released. It has approx. 750 rounds through it, from steel case to jhp, with zero issues. Caniks are known to be very reliable, so your issue are most likely ammo related. Mine is in my EDC rotation and I have would trust my life to it. Like you my experience is a sample of one, but there are many trusted guntubers who recommend Canik for many uses, from self/home defense to competition.
Canik comes from the factory oversprung. I shoot 124 gr. and had a couple issues in the first 500 rounds. since then, it has run anything I feed it. I also have a Rival-S and it took a little longer to break in , but has run flawless from about 750 on.
Just got one. On its maiden voyage I too had a few light primer strikes. I was using some old ammo and new. I’m pretty sure it only happened with the old ammo but in the moment I didn’t check each round after malfunction. The pistol also seems “looser” between the slide and frame after putting 100 rounds through it. Maybe that’s just the way it is.
@@FireBoxCampaign Thanks man. With all the enhancements I too was really wanting to like it. I’m hoping after putting more rounds through it everything will settle in. If not, I might be putting it up for sale too.
@@kalstewart1971 Thanks for the tip. I sent new 147 through it with no problems. I don’t know what the old stuff was that I was using. I will definitely be picking up the other grains on my next trip to buy ammo. 👍
Have this and sfx rival. Both great. Reloads and cheap ammo suck in it. 2500 rds of factory box ammo, not one ftf or issue. Federal HST and Sellior/Bellot is what I use. Get a surefire light with new Antimatter "Wing" thumb rest and you'll have a great beast. Love mine, good luck.
@@FireBoxCampaignI’ve had mine for 3yrs now no problems and I shoot it daily maybe it’s just yours I mean the guy u traded with probably wanted to get rid of it for a reason

Good deal, man. I am going to try different ammo types. Hopefully, it was just cheap ammo because I really do like this gun.

I’ve got easily over 3500 rounds through mine and it’s a very solid pistol for 700. I’d definitely buy it again.
I do like it. Especially with all the options it come with. Thanks for the feedback.
#ItWasTheAmmo
isn't that always the case.
Dude that intro is sick
thank you.

TBH I'm probably going to sell it. I really wanted to like it but it's just not for me. Good luck on yours. Hopefully mine was just a lemon.

Canik is a NATO firearm so all Canik’s tend to like heavier weighted ammo like 124, 124+P and 147.

Solid looking gun!
I do really like to aesthetics and ergonomics of the firearm but as of now too many malfunctions to be considered in the line up.

Good advice thanks. I started using 124 gr ammo and its way better.
Check me on this but I believe the correct Turkish pronunciation of Canik is JANIK
Are you in Texas? Lubbock?
Texas yes but this range is in Waxahachie. ETTS
I saw this at my local FFL in tan and it did look nice asl
But I already own one Canik and that’s a mistake you make just once
I really had high hopes for it but as of right now too many malfunctions to become part of the family.

@@nickrock5482 I have found it runs fine with 124g ammo. I was using 115g range ammo.
Intro is hilarious
