So why do they call it "Rolling Hills"?
@@rodneyboehner3007 Perhaps of their movement? It's not the first time, as I've read in another post. This area was known for it.
Why on earth people were allowed to build there? Don't know. Perhaps it's time to make some greedy officials do time?
If I was a lawyer for an insurance company here, I for sure would press charges.
My parents moved to the Rancho Palos Verdes area of PV in 1970. At the time, there had already been major land slides and shifts so it was understood that many areas of PV were unsafe on which to build. However, population pressures and (frankly) greed overtook that knowledge over the years and homes were built all over PV. This is sad event is of little surprise to those of us who know the area. Really a shame.
That's only because the land on the PV mound is all made of volcanic mud clay, instead of bed rock. This same thing happened in 1929 with "Sunken City" on the beach side of PV.
Primarily greed😊
Napatree Point, Rhode Island was totally destroyed by a hurricane in 1938. All it took was one storm to convince the people not to build there again.

Clearly everyone knew this....😊
😂the name is "rolling hills" 😁😂
You can't make up some of the stuff that happens in the US region of Turtle Island 😁😂
Seems there is going to be a major lawsuit! Those, who gave permission to build there, are either incapable or (more probable) as corrupt as can be. Someone might have bought pretty worthless land for little money and got together with his friend at the department, which determines if land can be build on and allocated for that purpose. They made a nice buck then. If so, justice demands to let them pay back till the end of time and make them work in prison for the rest.

Nowhere in my comment did I write ANYTHING that could even remotely be construed as saying “f*ck grandma & the kids … make sure you grab the dog”, which is what your comments - plural, still funny - implied.
I wrote that I also, like the original commenter, think about pets/animals left behind after natural disasters, bc “the lost lives of non-human family members” break my heart - i.e., I think it’s heartbreaking to just leave pets behind when natural disasters occur.
OF COURSE you make sure your family gets out safely - that’s a given! But imo, you make sure your family gets out safely & INTACT, including your “non-human family members”. So do you understand my comment now, or are you going to post 3 comments this time, insinuating nothing that I’ve written?!

You're living in a earthquake zone and decide to buy a home on a hillside. 🤦♀️
just llike the people who buld homes in Hurricane areas.
It’s not like you think. One can build a home almost anywhere. The real issue is “FULLY taking in consideration all factors involved to make the house and ground solid”. My suspicion here is there was the minimum consideration of fill, type of fill, and kind of extreme weather event which could cause the land underneath a house to move. One can’t just build a house in a location like this majoring in the minors. Theses houses were probably built with the minimum in mind for the builder to make major profits. The issue is even biblical.
““Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.””
Matthew 7:24-27 NIV

Not covered under insurance……..even earthquake won’t cover this. 🥴🥴🥴
The surveyors didn’t do the pre construction checks correctly……profit over safety….the American way.
Super scary I can see that guy is still in his bathtub with the wall broken off his house😮
Note to future homebuyers: Maybe think twice about buying a property on the edge of a Hill.
When you’re a kid growing up in southern California, specifically the beach area, Redondo Hermosa, Manhattan you always look at the hell up there as being with a really rich people live. Rolling Hills. Estates is pretty famous for horseback riding and having a lot of protected wildlife birds and such. I feel bad for the people that own their homes up there because many of those people probably don’t have a lot of money other than their houses as their houses are worth millions of dollars. None of these people will have their homes paid for by insurance because this is an act of God and the insurance policies are not going to pay out for an act of God so these people have lost their homes completely with zero compensation. Most of us have homes that are anywhere from $100,000-$500,000 but these homes up there those homes are worth a few million each
Why blame God? It was known this wasn't stable ground, someone else wrote. Blame the ones, who gave permission to build there anyway.
Why would insurance mot cover an act of god, that is the most basic thing that is covered. You know nothing about insurance.
If you want to buy a house in Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach, you have to be rich! My childhood home, which was in a crappy part of Los Angeles, is worth $800,000 today. I envied those who lived in Rancho Palos Verdes and other nice neighborhoods. By the way, I used to work at a Carl's Jr. in Redondo Beach when I was a student at El Camino College.
we have no idea what home insurance policies these people had so no way to know what will happen to them. That said basic home insurance policies do not cover landslides so unless they specifically bought landslide coverage they arent covered.
@@stillhasitall2010false. “Acts of god” are NOT covered and seen as unpredictable/incalculable risk and therefore not covered by insurance policies.

Thats crazy. Prayers
Prayers to whom? And about what? God knows everything. Even before it happens. So, god was fully aware of this and was apparently ok with it. Are the prayers for god to help the people? Because, once again, god already knows these people need help. Do you think god is unsure what to do next? That he needs people to give him suggestions via prayer? That's rather insulting to god, don't you think? Are the prayers just to let god know how you feel? Because god already knows that too.
So, what purpose do these prayers serve? Is it just to make you feel like you've actually done something when you haven't really done anyting at all? All you've really done is to type the word 'prayers'. That's not very helpful to these people, is it?
What you could do is to offer these people food, clothes, shelter, water... That would be something. It even sounds like something Jesus would do. Jesus was a carpenter. He'd probably help them rebuild their houses! Maybe you could do that!
