My father was in the military that time. I'm 41 and my father is still alive and healthy right now. I asked him about what he feels during martial law during our video call, and he replied to something that makes my chin up;
"I love President Marcos, I really do. What a smart individual. I really like the martial law if I'm going to think ONLY about myself. How about my 4 brothers? My father? My uncles? My in-laws? Hindi sila makalabas. Napaka daming bawal para sa kanila. Pero saken? Saming mga naka uniform? Walang bawal bawal. Kami ang hari eh. Totoo yun, walang problema ang pumatay noong martial law as long as you're in uniform and nasa side Ka ni Presidente. As much as I love President Marcos, I really hate martial law because I love my family and people around me. Do you want to be like North Korea?"
He really know how to call people with so much respect. He always calls Marcos "Presidente", "President Marcos" "President".

Bakit kailangan niyang mag declared ng martial law? Dahil the constitution only allowed him for 2 terms in office. Matatapos na siya on Dec. 30, 1973. He declared a garrison state to perpetuate himself in power beyond the expected time or perhaps forever. Parang si Idi Amin ng Uganda, who declared himself president for life. Kung hindi pa lumusob ang Tanzanian troops sa Uganda para siya mapatalsik. He was called the butcher of Uganda. It was also the US that gave Marcos Sr. the green light to declare martial law. At that time the US government is fighting their personal war in Vietnam against the north Vietnamese communist gov't. Kailangan ng US ang support ng Ph gov't dahil narito ang one of the biggest US military installations sa Subic and Clark airbase. Lahat ng ayaw kay Marcos Sr. was branded as a communist sympathizer kahit hindi. What a brilliant idea nga naman for Marcos Sr. na ipakulong lahat ng bumabatikos sa kanya. Para wala ng susunod pa sa kanya as president of the country kung lahat nakakulong na. Similar to what Joseph Stalin did in the Soviet Union by putting everybody in the Gulag concentration camp. Saka walang bansa around the world na umunlad under the martial law atmosphere na one-man rule. NPA and CPP are not the threat but Marcos Sr. to the democracy of the country. No dictator has live forever. Whether good or bad lahat ng bagay sa mundo may katapusan, something na hindi naisip ni Marcos Sr. nuon. Kung malakas talaga ang NPA-CPP nuon dapat na over run na ang gobyerno niya. Hindi naman. Masarap talaga ang nasa kapangyarihan when he became the president in 1965. He can do what ever he want. One of them is chasing women. The most scandalous was his illicit affair to an American actress Dovie Beams from 1968-70. At first Malacanang neither confirm or deny it. Until nagpa press con si Dovie and tell it like it is. Nataranta ang Malacanang kaya she was booked on the first flight out of the country the following day. Maganda ang martial law? Siguro kay Marcos Sr. lang at mga cronies niya. Dahil wala ng mga opposition to check the excess of the power that be.

TBH, all TV stations were shut down. But some were permitted to restart themselves back up. (Unfortunately, ABS wasn't one of them)
Only KBS or RPN 9 remained to on air in the televisions because the owner is the crony of Marcos.

It's not illegal to declare by any (Phil) President so long that its on the ground which is base on the constitution. But there have been abuses that it was revised to avoid repeating the same mistakes again.
As far as I know the Martial Law of Marcos Sr. is based on the 1973 Constitution. The 1987 Constitution did not exist at that time.

Martial law as far as I know was first declared on September 21, 1972. Not September 23, 1972, as it said here.
It took effect on September 21, 1972 but it was declared on September 23, 1972 after the Enrile incident.

The US monetary policies play a major role sa appreciation ng US dollar. The US Feds keep on increasing the interest rate due to inflation.
