If you keep your car outside all the time in sunny states then the time to replace the tires is around 4 years, especially valid unfortunately for hard rubber high mileage warranty expensive tires. When you start notice that your old tires spin the moment you accelerate from red light during rain - time for replacement no matter what thread you have left.
My used Chevy bolt came with 2 good tires almost brand new and 2 okay tires probably half worn when I got the car I just noticed the rotation of the tires doing more burnouts on front axle and then worn tires on the back axle kicking out in rain ran my finger over the tires and the tread bar is even almost to the tread got some tires coming in Friday my family always complains about me working on my cars and replacing parts but tires are scary slick in rain 😂 they lasted about 15K after I got the car in January, the other pair is like 🆕 got the bad tires on the front now going to change them out for some waterfall tires to see how good Michelin really is
You would probably need a highway tire for long distances at high speeds I would check with tire rack or discount tire direct for the best tires for your tires but yes highway can wear some tires out quicker than others it depends on the tire rubber compound and the design of the tire
In dry conditions on paved roads, a bald tire can perform better because it has a larger contact patch. The grooves in the tread are for channeling water and other particulates.
I have 44k miles on continental tires that still have a good amount of tread. But, they're 6 years old. I notice them slipping in rain... Time to replace!
Damn, that penny thing. i'd use my tyres till i can till they're bald enough.. replacing those tyres that often costs alot. hell those tyres ain't cheap.
thank you. so if there is more wear on one tire lets say on the left than the middle and right does it need to be changed? or i can i drive it still. do all four lines need to be thin or can i still drive if just 1 line is weared
Hello. Can you tell me about cracks on the base tread, at the bottom of the grooves, around the lugs. They look like sipes, but I'm pretty sure they are not supposed to be there, in that spot?
It's been said the penny in the tread is outdated to " determine " tread depth . That a quarter is to be used instead ? Just buy a genuine tire tread depth gauge and use that !!! The new ones are marked with green , yellow and red . And use 303 Protectant to resist the drying out and cracking of your tires .
it is. . but indicators he presented is more accurate say u had to change ur tires over X miles same tires can go far more/less on a different weather ,different roads , different sun exposure
I live in Australia. Now I have to fly to America buy a "Penny " and come back to check the Tyres. Why don't Americans go Metric, then their NASA Satellites wouldn't crash all the time. Lol
Why do they always use a coin? I've seen one using a 20p coin from England and now this. I'm in Poland :/ I need a penny, penny, penny that's what I need!
My budget tyres did not last 3,000 mileage,it must be Chinese tyres.A good tyre can last 20,000 mileage.Never buy Chinese tyres, go for European tyres.
This video is how I want all the videos and conversations to be.

Wow thanks for this
Dang. My tires spun out from a red light during the rain and I just knew something was up. Thanks for this!

Great info . Does traveling long distance (500+ miles) wear tire thread faster?
You would probably need a highway tire for long distances at high speeds I would check with tire rack or discount tire direct for the best tires for your tires but yes highway can wear some tires out quicker than others it depends on the tire rubber compound and the design of the tire
Also when a tire is just old. It gets hard and the rubber can start cracking.
Spray them with 303 Protectant .
When to replace your tire when they look like racing slicks lol
Well damn guess it's to to replace my back tires than xD
Nah that's when the driving gets fun!
Facts I will never replace until then
Nah bruh you only replace them when the wire is coming apart
In dry conditions on paved roads, a bald tire can perform better because it has a larger contact patch. The grooves in the tread are for channeling water and other particulates.
Which is why race cars use slick tires?

Same mine are really bad I’ve been drifting every corner and doing burnouts when I accelerate 🤣
Same here when it rain i push the gas and i can tokio drift a little 🥶
@@kryseg988 that’s when shits fun…as long as you ain’t sliding into oncoming traffic
Actually, now they say to use a quarter to get a more accurate measurement. (and to sell more tires also)
i agree, hell you can still use those tyres for longer time. replacing tyres that often costs so much money.
Short and sweet, thank you.
Damn, that penny thing. i'd use my tyres till i can till they're bald enough.. replacing those tyres that often costs alot. hell those tyres ain't cheap.
Thank you for the knowledge.
Great video! Short and to the point!
I have a 2019 Honda CRV EXL with 36K miles. Own the car 2 years and don't drive far. Is mileage an indication of needing new tires? TIA
Great video 👏🏽Thank you for sharing
Damn it! I can’t check the tires since I don’t have a penny, sucks living in the UK
Lol

i had side wall damage not to long ago, not fun
Even though the tread wear is good, the first most important is the age of the tire, usually not more than 6 to 10 years old.
It's been said the penny in the tread is outdated to " determine " tread depth . That a quarter is to be used instead ? Just buy a genuine tire tread depth gauge and use that !!! Thanks for the video =)
what about if tires to be cupping but on coilovers. is that mean to much damping or to little damping. ?
What if you see little rips at the end of the tire
Good info!
You had me at Abe’s head.
Did anyone else misread the "DRIVING" text as "Dr. Irving" lol
Where can I find a “penny” device?
Thank you
Do I need to change my tires if inside of the tire is clean aš ice?
I was driving on tires with low air pressure for a few hours. And I'm worried about internal sidewall damage of the tire. How do you check that?
how'd it play out? you good now?
@@Shloopy420 Seems ok. Thanks for writing, you reminded me to check my tire pressure.
Commenting to remind you to check your tire pressure
Check your tires.
Now I found out I need to replace all 4 tires and it will cost me a little under $1,000 😅 dang
so mileage isn't an indicator or a factor for replacement decision ?
it is. .

Good thing in South Africa I happen to have an American penny! Lol

And what if my penny is Saudi Arabian...?
What if we don't have pennies on circulation?
My dealer always tell me I need tires when I don’t smhn
how about if they are over 5 years but still look good
Pretty sure my tires when new would still fail the penny test.
Bol
Can tires go back even if you're not using them they're just there 4+5-6 years without use
They can definitely go bad, the rubber hardens with time
Think most run on slick tires due to money who would run around on old tires? No choice its money 300-500 for tires some more not cheap
Guess I'm buying a tire gauge. I can't remember the last time I saw a penny in real life. Let alone an American penny.
I fell like i replace my front driver tire every 5- 6 month.
*Assuming your tire will explode if you don’t change it.*

Just ro be safe I buy new tires before my wok commute every morning.
