Barry. Please get some good oven gloves. You can actually use your fingers and dont need to deal with your hands being shackled together by those huge mittens. Those things seem dangerous.
The cofee cannot go above 100C (because water) so you should have blasted it on max until done (when it almost starts boiling you are done), but yeah kettle is always easier.
For the loaf you probably would have had better results if using the air fryer tray instead of putting it on the bottom. That way the air would have circulated Around the bottom and heating it up like an oven. And they do make both parchment and silicone liners for air fryers.
Exactly what I was thinking. It's not the fault of the loaf shape, but rather the fault of the way the air fryer works. That grate would've definitely helped the bottom cook.
Former McDonald's employee here: The McRibs were never cooked in the barbecue sauce. They're made on the same clam grill as the burgers and then dunked into the holding trays with barbecue sauce in them, refilled every so often as new patties are made.
Current Maccies worker here - the new version was not dunked in trays of sauce, it was simply bottled sauce applied to both sides of the bun. Also, not sure who was complaining about the new McRib not having the indents, it definitely did.
for the lemon loaf start with the foil on and finish with the foil off. also to test doneness use a thermometer, the temp should be close to boiling. and a tip for creaming butter and sugar, whip the butter first then add the sugar.
I am from Germany where we have the McRib year round, all the time and i actually worked at McDonalds. At least here, the McRib has never been baked in the sauce. The Meat is grilled fully and then it is placed in a heated bath of the sauce. It takes a couple of minutes for the Meat to absorb the sauce so that it doesnt just slide off. If a lot of people are ordering the Mcrib at the same time and you keep having to refill the meat it doesnt have the time to soak in the sauce enough and thats when you get a dry burger. Yours looks great and i might just try to recreate and compare sometime soon. :D
For the crunchwrap supreme, look for a burrito-size tortilla (rather than merely "large"). You can also get flat tostadas rather than breaking a folded taco shell in half, or you could fry a corn tortilla with a dab of oil in the air fryer for 4-5 minutes.
I'm definitely assuming, but you comment (while really helpful!) is obvious your not British/living in the UK. Mexican food is basically none existent here and what we do have is very limited and mostly poor quality Vs actual mexican food (we do other cuisines MUCH better thanks to location or having diaspora living here making genuine foodstuffs). Mexican food in the UK, found in supermarkets comes in kits by a brand called old el paso or a supermarket own brand knockoff. We have flour tortillas but they are mostly marketed as "wraps" and certainly don't come in "burrito" size, just large and small. Crunchy taco shells come in the aforementioned el paso meal kits we don't get tostades and corn tortillas just aren't a thing here, let alone good fresh ones. It's a shame because good mexican food is amazing. We have chain restaurants that are potentially on par with Chipotle but far from GOOD mexican food. Can get brilliant Indian sub continent foods which I suppose is our equivalent to mexican food in America.
no thought went into this comment did it those dont exist in the UK as Mexican cuisine isnt a thing here as we have no history with them do try and use a bit of common sense
Tip: for doughnut and biscuit doughs, you will get a higher rise if you don't spin the cutter. Just make a clean cut straight down and up again. Spinning pinches the sides, resulting in less rise.
I currently do not have an oven and most of the time I’m cooking for one or two people. I bought an air fryer and have experimented cooking lots of things in my it, there’s a learning curve on time and temps but I haven’t really found anything I can’t make work in my air fryer. Often times I do cover things that I know will take longer with tinfoil and then check the temp on it if it’s close I’ll pull off the foil and let it brown.
This was so much fun to watch! Testing famous recipe clones in an air fryer is such a genius idea!✨The results looked mouthwatering, and your tips were super helpful-can’t wait to try some of these at home! 🙌🔥
I have at home a ninja foodi 11 in 1 multi cooker and I think it would be cool if you could maybe find a budget alternative to this machine and do a series on recipes you could do only using that. it has functions such as slow cooker, saute, pressure cook, air fry, dehydrate, and even yoghurt but its really good for 1 pot meals. love your videos :)
Like the vid, thanks. Next time try using toothpicks to hold the tortilla/wrap together. It really comes in handy. Also after pausing/stopping, most airfryer's fans run to cool the air fryer but the element stops heating .
When you first said that you were going to make a drink, I honestly thought that you were just going to pour all of the ingredients into the basket of the air fryer. As much fun as that would have been to watch, I'm glad that you chose to use a mug. lol
I would love to see you do a series of videos using slow cookers, aka crockpots (no, autoincorrect, I do _not_ mean crackpots). I love mine because the prep is usually fast, and with my arthritis, that's a very helpful thing. If I have to stand too long doing a ton of prep... I just DoorDash or UberEats instead.
While I can't speak for the McDonald's in Britbongistan, here in the US they're cooked on the grill just like the burgers. It used to be that there was a warmer that went on the prep line that held then in a warm tub of barbeque sauce. But then several years ago they switched to just filling a regular tray like what the burgers are held in with sauce. Which means on less thing to wash, but also means that the holding cabinets are a bigger pain in the ass to clean.
Dude im sure this is very delicious 😋 I loved loved your McD's Mc Rib recipe Itcwas so good 💯 They all look so amazing 🤩 thank you for all your hard work 💗
I made our complete Thanksgiving dinner in my small air fryer. To keep everything warm I heated a cup of water to boiling and set in the microwave. It kept everything warm as I did each component.
I've never deconstructed a Crunchwrap, but just always assumed that one layer was one of those precooked crunchy corn tortillas that you can buy a stack of. Every time I have a Crunchwrap I think, "nachos when you have to drive," because it's just nachos in a tortilla pocket lol
TBH I never bother with the branded tortillas, they're such a rip off compared to the supermarket own brand ones. Morrisons own ones are double the size and half the price.
There are silicone inserts that fit in the bucket of an airfryer. You can get different sizes and different heights for your needs. If you want something you can just toss, there are also disposable ones too.
I had Strawberry milkshake car soap once and have cherry foam somewhere too, all it really does is give a pleasent smell for a bit (and makes the process of washing a nicer smelling experiance) which fades pretty much after a short drive.
I have binge-watched so many of your videos now that I am using words like Stonk, Stonking, squidgy, and hey -ho, etc.. My wife is beginning to think I have gone bonkers 🙂
This was a great compilation. Hopefully your air fryer is doing alright. I would say the sour cream or yogurt helps add acidity to the batter and supposed to make the final products (cakes) more tender. The Pumpkin Spice Late took me back to the song I made for my October/Halloween album this year (check it out Barry and others). The McRib looked like a legit one you would have gotten from a McD's, but maybe better due to being cooked in the BBQ sauce. Now all McD's does is dip it in the sauce after it has been heated. Hopefully Hugh will pull through, if not, I guess you have others lol.
You can buy air fryer pan inserts made of silicone. I've got the Ninja two basket air fryer and I bought two silicone inserts for it. I use them all the time. Don't have to clean the basket every time.
barry dont know if it helps any, you want large wraps, asda do mission xl wraps in a red packet I've had them a few times, turns a normal breakfast wrap into a ginormous wrap perfect for the crunch wrap
Krispy Kreme donuts were a crushing disappointment when I tried them, so I think they're hard to mess up. 😂 Mind you, I think I've been spoiled by the ones you could get a Cadbury Garden center (not sure if the van is still there as it's been ages since I visited). I finally got my hands on some Pumpkin Spice coffee syrup and i am not disappointed 😋 (which is a good job, really as I could only get it in 90cl bottles 🤣).
This is what justifies a more expensive airfryer, especially the Ninjas. Cheaper airfyers have "programs" for different types of foods, but all they really are is a combination of time and degrees, and then the fan goes full speed. This is why baking in cheaper airfryers is tricky. Even if you just set it at 170 degrees, the fan will blast the cake with the hot air and brown/blacken the cake before it is baked through. The Ninja (and possibly other brands) varies the fan speed too, making it possible to bake/reheat/dehydrate and more
I worked at Mcdonalds when we had the McRib. The rib is a frozen patty and cooked on the grill. Then it is put in the BBQ Sauce that is kept warm until it is served. One of the Best series! Thanks For this
I did it. I got a (cheap) air fryer from Wal Mart a week ago. I'll be taking notes and rewatching this video today.
Repeating my recommendation to get a lorrie and name it Hugh so you can rename this super budget air fryer.

An air fryer is just a small vertical convection oven. It doesn't really fry anything, it just applies heat from above with a heating element and a fan blowing downward. The tray in the bottom allows the air to circulate beneath the food if you're using it. They're good because they don't take a lot of power, preheat quickly and don't heat up the room.
