Good luck! It can add such a fun element to a baby or kids room! If you’re preggo I suggest taking frequent breaks-when I added stripes before my 4th, I was exhausted the next day! Haha
I’m 12 and I’m as my mum says 30 in my art level and I’m finally doing this at the end of my first year of highschool and I’m super exited I’m going to try painting it on a canvas sitting it up as if it was a wall and I’ll try that and then I will do the wall
Yes! Sometimes you have to plow through a little to know if the idea is bad or not! I used this trick earlier in this mural but definitely didn’t like the direction and ended up starting over 😬 it definitely works both ways!
Seeing the stages was very helpful. When I've looked at wall murals, and think about doing something like them, I'm always then hit with the thought: But where do I begin?! Thank you for helping with that!
Wonderful! I’m in the early stages of prepping for my next (biggest yet) mural-would it be helpful to have a blog style view of the process? (Along with more simple, tip videos)
Great tips, thanks. I’m intending doing a mid-century modern design on one wall of my den 😬 A tip for you though - you can stop your iPad from going to sleep in settings. If you can keep it on charge, it won’t drain the battery.
Katrina thanks for a great video. Your final tip to set a timer for 10 minutes has inspired me. I started a wall panel project in my living room but got stuck trying to seal the lines between panels. I tried calk and it didn’t work so I’ve been paralyzed for months unable to risk moving forward -not sure if a wood putty or joint compound or spackle or what would work. I’m finally ready to move forward with the joint compound idea. I’ll just seal a couple of them and see how I like it. I’m painting over it anyway plus I have spare panels if it fails. I just need to move forward.
This is beautiful! I’m about to start a mural on my daughters wall and I’m trying to decide what to do on the accent wall in my bedroom. I have way too many specifics to find something similar lol ❤️the contrast of the colors🎨
@@Twofeathers22 yes!! I had so much fun with my daughters room!! I did a rainbow.. but the main part ended up being the clouds. I didn’t want them to look fake and cheesy so I had to learn how to make them look real. Btw, it’s kinda hard to find lessons for clouds on a wall. Anyway it was awesome and I still haven’t even started on my own wall lol 😂
What’s the theme going to be maybe I can brain storm with you I’m working on three signs that point all different directions with the miles from here to there as gifts for some odd ball friends of mine haha I think they will love them but drop me a line or two and maybe I can be some help to ya. Till then hope you have a good day
That’s great! I can’t wait to hear about it-be sure to report back and share any tips you have after your experience… I think I’m going to paint another mural soon and would love to hear your input ❤️
Unfortunately, I do not! This was before I was making videos for RUclips so I only have a few clips of it. I used the same large paint brush and just painted giant flowers scattered around with some greenery and fruit
I restarted but I think it was about three days, working on it 3-4 hours each day. So probably around 10-12 hours? Not including creating the sketch and agonizing over paint color, hah
Honestly, I can’t remember a specific stand out! I pulled from many different designs and aesthetics but created one that kind of blended them together into what I was looking for at the time. Sorry!
What did you use for the black outlines of the flowers in this mural? And what type of brush? I know this is a very important step and it looks great btw😊
I used a pencil to mark the lines and then a light brown interior wall paint. For the brushes I used round acrylic brushes from the craft store. Various sizes
I recommend drawing out what you want to have in the wall. Even if it’s not quite to scale, sketch out a few ideas and then you can get more specific as you finalize your design. More insight into my full process here: m.ruclips.net/video/rgkHPmclol8/видео.html
Just as I go. I still used the original paint consistency for other projects around the house and this mural was small enough that I didn’t mind thinning as I went
I have ZERO drawing skills, so downloaded an ipad app, that allows you to trace an image from the screen, onto paper, using the devices camera. It gave me the idea of using the same technique, for an outside, large wall mural. I’m going to use my projector to shine an image on the wall, when its dark, and trace the image. Has anyone else tried this?
You think so? In my experience people are usually more impressed with it then it deserves. Like they think it’s a huge accomplishment but it’s one of my “lesser pieces”, (in my opinion)
I asked my principal if I could paint a wall somewhere in my school and she actually let me! Me and a friend are preparing the all right now
How exciting! I can’t wait to hear all about it ❤️ be sure to send pictures!
That's awesome!!
Thank you... the stepping back tip is huge. Also going over the surface first to create a smooth canvas. Good stuff...
So glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful! Thank you for taking the time to let me know ❤️
Thank you for the tip! I love your wall. I am trying to find motivation to paint my baby's room, so this makes it more feasible 🎉

I was 30 when I painted this so it sounds like it is right up your alley! Have fun!
Just starting my first project. This was really helpful!
Oh I’m so glad you found it helpful!! I’m actually sketching out my next project right now! It’s addicting, lol
Thank you. You’re very talented! My favourite tip was to try something out for ten minutes before fully committing to it 🌼🌸

She’s right about that it’s fun and relaxing and it makes the house fill more like yours 👍

Check out a woman named Joni young she’s really good. A video or two of hers might help ya she’s pretty good.

Beautiful creation. You made it look easy with really good instructions.
I’m glad it was helpful! I’m working up the courage to paint my next one here soon!
Beautiful!! Thank you for sharing these tips. I’m about to start a mural for my daughter and these were so helpful!
Glad it was helpful! I can’t wait to hear how your daughter’s mural turns out ❤️
And here I was going to ask you about your gorgeous wallpaper in the background of another one of your videos 🤣 I am INSPIRED!
LOL! You’re so sweet-all hand painted! Some areas are better than others, hahah
@@katrinacrouch its gorgeous. 🥰

Oh, this is absolutely beautiful 🤩
Thank you so much!! 🥰🥰🥰
I love the timer idea!
It really helps me, hah! I need help to be disciplined sometimes
I love the old design that you painted over. Do you have a video of when you created it?
Unfortunately, I do not! This was before I was making videos for RUclips so I only have a few clips of it.
I used the same large paint brush and just painted giant flowers scattered around with some greenery and fruit
This is just stunning 🤩 Love it !
So glad you enjoyed it, Julie ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing the video. It has been of great help to understand the start 🙏🙏
I’m so glad it was helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions-I’ll do my best to answer ❤️
Masterful skill😲u didn't even sketch it on the wall first.. 👏🏾bravo!
Oh thank you! Sometimes I get the scale off and have to start over but having the plan to guide me really helps ❤️
Making a Custer getting scalped mural, thanks!
Have fun!
Beautiful mural
Thank you! I’m so glad you like it
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊 I’m so glad you like it!
Beautiful
So glad you like it!
This is absolutely gorgeous and SO helpful! About how long did this take from start to finish?
I restarted but I think it was about three days, working on it 3-4 hours each day. So probably around 10-12 hours? Not including creating the sketch and agonizing over paint color, hah
These were amazing 💗 you're really creative 💗and they were beautiful 😍
Oh thank you, I’m so glad you enjoyed both walls. I love that most of these wall mural techniques can be applied to drawing or painting as well!
Lovely design...
Thank you!
It's lovely! What is the background base color?
Ocean Air by Benjamin Moore! I have added the paint details to the description-sorry about that!
Looks great ! ❤ Bravo 🎈😄
Thank you so much!
What type of colors we should use for wall painting? Could you please provide a link. Thank you so much
Just regular interior paint! I have the paint color names, brands and finishes in the description already! I don’t even know how to link paint, hah!
Can I use acrylic craft paint from Walmart for granddaughters mural on her wall. Painting a rainbow
I’m sure you COULD, but I can’t speak to the longevity.
Looks amazing
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it
Can I ask where you found your inspo picture? I really like many parts of it
Honestly, I can’t remember a specific stand out! I pulled from many different designs and aesthetics but created one that kind of blended them together into what I was looking for at the time. Sorry!
So helpful!!! Thank you!
So glad it was helpful!! Thank you for the feedback
Sometime I would love to see just a stencil like above the chair rail...I really want to try one but don't dare to...
Remember that it’s just paint! You can always paint over it again 🙂
Fantastic tips! Thank you
So glad you found it helpful! Murals are so fun (though a little intimidating!)
thanks. this was what i was looking for
So glad you found it helpful!!
Great idea thanks for sharing
So glad you enjoyed it!
a tip that i have used it to use a projectors and trace the outline and work it from there
Great idea!
Beatiful painting 😍😍❣️
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed iy
Thanks for sharing
Which types of your color oil or acrylic .
Please share your brushes type too
I used the same interior paint that you would use on a wall and a very large acrylic round brush

Pretty much agree on most / all of these!!
Great ☺️
Did you use a shalk to sketch before applying the primer
Sometimes I use a pencil to sketch out ideas but nothing fancy!
Beautiful, is it possible to use acrylic paint?
I have heard from a few people that have used acrylic and it seems to work! I can’t speak to the usability and longevity myself but worth a try ☺️
Great tips and beautiful painting! What reference did you use? I love it!
I drew the design on my iPad after looking at several different flowers. I don’t remember the specific variety! Sorry about that
Do you water down the whole can or just as you go?
Just as I go. I still used the original paint consistency for other projects around the house and this mural was small enough that I didn’t mind thinning as I went

Yes, many have used a projector to create a mural
What type of brushes are you using?
Large acrylic brushes from my local craft store! Nothing too fancy ☺️
What tips do you have?
The best news is that most of these tips apply to all forms of traditional drawing/painting as well!
Sir yava paint use madiddu nivu
I’m so sorry, the translation isn’t coming through so I don’t know what you said
looks easier then in real life
