Yeah the fact the vast majority of players need to watch a RUclips video to understand the story and lore just says a lot about. It's honestly also way to open to interpretation.
The lore of these games are generally way more interesting than the vast majority of games out there. They don't force you to learn about it. The clues are there if you really wanna do a deep dive.

best world in the game I ever saw is Stalker games. no-one cares who you are and things happen regardless you there or not.
