maybe F6HPP quality of signal is problem who knows... BUT I don't think so! IC-821 is realy poor radio for contesting ! ! ! If you are in first fresnel zone to F6HPP with QRO and high gain antennas - none of factory made VHF/UHF transceiver can't manage that level of signal... You should try contest in JO60/JO70/JO80 with 20-30 stations in 70km radius from you with power around 1-2kW and 17dBd antennas. Greetings from SN7L team !

However, getting a such strong signal from the 3rd harmonic at such a distance is probably more related to the very high ERP result, than to the poor 821 rx section :-) I'm sure that HPP has all the appropriate stuff to ensure ad hoc filtering and remains on the legal power limit, to allow every one enjoying the band during the constests.
