I had a case where I was working retail and worked in a toxic atmosphere. Eventually, I was let go and was glad when that happened. I felt happy I was gone. When I ran my own pharmacy business for 7 years, I never felt burn out. I was happy working for myself. Now, while I work at the moment, I think its fine, and I do enjoy when I can listen to podcast especially comedy and that really reduces my stress for anything I do, whether it's driving for hours or working 10 hour shifts.

Thanks for sharing Jessica! I have so many residents burn out and I can feel it when I talk to them. It’s almost a badge of honor to work as many hours and staying late as possible. On the flip side, glad more people are talking about it now so it’s normalized.

Ahhh my comment disappeared! But what I said was that your upbringing sounds so stressful! My parents weren’t like that. They were the opposite, but I was like that on myself! I was obsessed with As in college!
Also, so many accomplishments in such a short period of time! Sounds like it definitely came at a cost.
Have you heard of Slow Life? I think it’s the perfect antidote to burn out (although maybe it’s too extreme of a shift). I feel like it’s hard for high achievers to fully transition to. I feel like I’ve been trying to transition since my first internship in the financial district in SF.
And ugh, yes I’m pretty sure I had burn out in 2017! I literally fainted in my apartment one day.
I’m trying to live more of a slow life, and I’m still trying to figure out exactly how to do that, but it’s definitely what my mind, body, and soul crave!
    Thanks for sharing your story!

Thank you for watching and sharing your experience Anita! Looking back, yes it was a stressful environment but I know my parents were doing the best from what they knew at the time.Yes, I think simplifying and resetting burnout led to a slower way of life.
