A few years ago, I accidently met Christopher Lloyd at a coffee shop I was working at when he was preparing to do a run of Death of a Salesman at the theatre next door. I actually didn't realise it was him, but I said "Wow, you remind me of Rev. Jim from Taxi, Christopher Lloyd." He laughed & said "I AM Christopher Llyod! But you are way too young to remember that show." I assured him that I was not. Then, word for word, I recited his monologue from THIS very bit, even acting out the breaking of the cookie, the tasting, the spitting it out!!!! He was floored! He said, "People only remember me from Back to the Future, & hardly anyone remembers me from Taxi, & I've NEVER met ANYONE who could recite that bit word for word! I didn't even remember how it went!" I said at that time it was the funniest thing I had ever seen on television & I had never forgotten it (the guy he was with was also crazy impressed). He autographed a napkin & we taped it to the side of the espresso machine. Years later the coffee shop closed & I've always wondered whatever became of that napkin! Like Sheldon Cooper (from Big Bang) wanted to do with Leonard Nimoy's DNA on a napkin- grow his own Mr. Spock- I could have grown my very own Reverend Jim!!! LOL!!!

One of the all-time great sitcoms. I love Danny deVito (and Christopher Lloyd), and what's always struck me about him is the way he'll stand back and let the other actor have their part - no massive ego, smart professionalism. Mind you, here he's also giving Lloyd the floor by Herculean restraint in trying not to fall flat laughing.
Amen
74 before the rains.
joseph pereira now that hurt me too. I could not stop laughing😂😂😂😂
I don't think that is possible to do know where and what year some Coke was made. Funny as hell anyway I'm
That was a good year.
joseph pereira hilarious!
Scott Golden you can as they do with wine. With the proper nose, taste, and having used it a lot (just like with wine) you could.
the 80s were a beautiful time in my life which included shows like Taxi and others. I would honestly love to go back and redo it all...but with the knowledge I have today.
One of the funniest skits ever! I'll never forget seeing this when it was first broadcast.
Michael Richards got this character and did krammer. Immitated him for sure.
I hadn’t seen taxi in years until just now. The resemblance is unmistakable.
@@kaliyuga2758 Yeah I literally thought it right before I read that comment. This is definitely the prototype for the K man
Larry David was a massive massive fan of taxi too. Seinfeld's writing is clearly influenced.
"Tried" to imitate him.
Kramer was more hyper....jim was more laid back
Love Christopher Lloyd. Love Danny DeVito. Love TAXI.
Exactly what i was going to say.
Except for Andy Kaufman, most if the cast is still alive. 🤖🍿👽
Legends : Danny Devito
Christopher Lloyd
Taxi : 70's Really Miss Taxi
How has Lloyd not guest starred on Sunny in Philadelphia yet? He and DeVito back together would've been awesome!
He had a cameo in Always Sunny Christmas special
"Jim" may have been my favorite sitcom character ever.
Danny Devito spent his entire career being groomed for Always Sunny. He just didn't know it 😆
Such a great show.
Agreed. No one else can pull off Frank Reynolds.
The role was groomed for him.
"Poignant, but not overbearing."
- Jim
This show is a timeless classic. Christopher Lloyd is a comic genius!
Lloyd, not Boyd.
@@BatMan-oe2gh fixed. Thanks. That was courtesy of my voice transcriber.

Classic... 74...before the rains!
You gotta remember, too, that this was the late 70s-early 80's when that stuff was much more pure and not nearly as stepped on as what you get today.
Lol. I used to have a dealer that said "This is some of that 1976 shit."
Okay thats nice but this Is coca leaves not cocaine in the cookies.
Kinda depends on where you get it. Get better dealers lol.
I was in Florida back in the early 80's. I'll just leave it at that. (-:
@@utecastronoova863 sounds almost like a kratom buzz what he's describing
Show is a classic. They'll never make them this good again
"Jim" was absolutely hilarious!!
"Are you telling me that Latka is selling cookies with drugs in them?" "PUHHHH!!!" So funny. :)
Well my duty as a citizen is clear cut! Jeff! Yeah? Get the police on the phone!!!
"he's selling cookies with drugs in them?!"
"Huagh!"
Taxi was an awesome show it was before my time but I always watched reruns and besides Emmitt brown this is my favourite Christopher Lloyd character! And almost my all time favourite sitcom character it's a shame they seem to be forgotten these days!
This was one of the best American sitcoms that I really enjoyed. It was just so funny, and then when Christopher came on the scene, it just went to another level. This scene was just so funny, and seeing Danny trying to hold it together was gold. Show would not be made today as not PC enough. A top notch sit com with fantastic comedians doing a fantastic job with the scripts. And the script writers were brilliant as well. Overall I give Taxi a 10/10.
good points, you should check out some UK sitcoms, like The Office and The Inbetweeners, UK versions
@@neanda Oh I love Brit sitcoms, much more funnier, though the Yanks did come out occasionally with decent stuff. But the Inbetweeners I did not like. Cheers
"No, but I wasn't really lookin..." Christopher Lloyd was the most brilliant actor on this show, the best character! Latka is the second, but he isn't better than Jim, no matter how brilliant he was too.
Jessica Pisetsky - out takes on this show would've been amazing. I'd bet 1/2 his lines or more were improvised! 😋
I think devito was ! Even marilu henner said’ without devito there wouldnt be Louie. And no Taxi i suppose.
Funny
Chris lloyd hands down the best
“I’m back from my vacation…”
“Ya didn’t happen ta run inta y’ah brains while ya were out there, didja?!?”
“…no, but I wasn’t really lookin’…”
This interaction sums up all human communication since the beginning of time.
Man, this gives me the feels. When I was 10, 11, 12, TAXI was my show. I never missed it. Just me in my room with myblittle tv. This was one of my favorite episedes. Jim was my favorite.
this show was absolutely the best in it's day, the characters were phenomenal, the actors and actress were perfect, love them all.
I wonder how many takes it took before Danny Devito stopped cracking up laughing
It was taped live. If they were doing takes, Devito would not have been smiling, that was clearly something he could not avoid since Lloyd probably did the spit unscripted.
Marilu Henner is absolutely smoking
I wouldn't kick Marilu Henner out of bed for eating cookies
If you were a teen male in 80s and didn't jerk it to any of her braless scenes you were probably gay
Really? I never thought she was hot. And I'm not gay. To each his own.
@@billm3706 I said probably, but since you felt the need to deny it for you ill make the exception of definitely.
@@SometimesOriginal Your not worth a reply.
I'm older now and dad is gone but I can still remember his laughter watching this show when I was a kid great memories!
Hugs
TAXI is a timeless American sitcom that is still funny today as it was back then.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....I remember this scene. ....thank God I grew up in the 70s.....GOD LOVE OLD SCHOOL. ...HS SCHOOL CLASS 85.....WHEN IT WAS REAL
Nice, me too, class of '85 baby. Grew up all thru the '70s and right on thru the mid '80s. Two GREAT DECADES to grow up in. Probably the best. Generation X. And this show was a favorite!
@@Rosespringfield Hell yeah ! If you missed the 80's, you really missed out !
Class of 81! I just raised you 4! Great time to be young! Great times, period.
Absolutely LOVED Rev. Jim Ignatowski b4 Doc Brown...Both CLASSIC characters!
Watching Danny trying not to laugh when Christopher snorts the cookie, and the other things a head does is hilarious. Both great actors.
Outstanding, for some reason in muy country I remember it along with Hill Street Blues, awesome series. The late 70s early 80s were something that NEVER EVER repeated itself. Both changed the way things were done on TV.
Yes, Hill Street Blues was I believe the first TV show that showed that gritty realistic camera detail which other tv series would follow years later. Plus great actors and story lines. Excellent series.
The greatest sitcom of all times. No competition. The combo of brilliant writing and the ability to improvise when called for is incomparable
Competition, yes. But still up there.
I prefer Seinfeld, Cheers, The Jeffersons, Frasier, and MASH.
@@realpoetics Seinfeld kinda sucked
The evolution of hilarious. Cheers, Frazier, but it started with Taxi. They made it look easy. That's talent.

Try 1978 ,, The 70s
@@theodoreritola7641 The best of the eighties started in the 70s. A great truth indeed.
I grew up with this classic sitcom. There was never an episode, that didn't have me rollin' 😄. And absolutely loved the cast!!! Yep, those were the good old days.
Literally my favorite scene in a serial comedy I watch repeatedly. Thank you or posting it. I enjoyed a belly laugh, and happy tears. What amazing actors.
" '74 before the rains" Have always remembered that line.
"They got a nice little surprise to them." " Southern Peru I believe before the rain 1974 ."lol
So wonderful these legends still going strong today! Lloyd killed it in Nobody 2021 and Danny has been as famous and relevant as ever thanks to Its Always Sunny and the internet status stemming from that show
Lloyd was great in Nobody!
He guest starred in an episode of The Big Bang Theory, and I laughed so hard I almost passed out!!!
He's hysterical!!!
Danny DeVito is a fucking legend! That dude is still going strong today, and just as physical with his comedy as he's ever been, what an amazing actor.
Nope, he died several years ago....but wikipedia says different. Mandela effect live and well.....I saw the news reports when he died around 2012, seriously.
I remember this one. Alex took some home and came the next day and told everyone he had just written an opera.
Ken Nickels and tony comes to work carrying a refrigerator that he brought from home. Carried all the way from home. Forget what the blonde guy did though.
CamaroAmx Jeff Conway came leaping like a ballet dancer lol! One of the funniest episodes of all!
