Hello everyone . Ive gotten a few comments about this painting not being a "bloom" painting because I didnt physically blow it out with my mouth 😂 as most of you know there are 100 different ways to do each and every "technique " out there. In the end its all just "acrylic pouring" there are blooms, bloom swipes, which you saw today, deconstructed blooms, hide and reveal blooms, etc, etc. Focus more on the recipe and the "bloom lacing" it provides because after all thats what this video comes down to. I used a combination of products that were not house paints to achieve the look that house paints provide. Thats what this video is about. Getting away from expensive house paints and using cheaper alternatives to achieve the same look. Also a few mentioned Elmer's Glue all and the possibility of it yellowing over time. Yes that is a possibility but its also a possibility for Floetrol, that stuff we use in many of our paintings, white house paints DEFINITELY yellow over time and so does resin even if it does have a UV inbibitor added to it. Yes UV protectant helps slow that down but 15 years from now the painting may be ambered . The good news is is that by then you will possibly be tired of looking at that old painting and make yourself a new one. 😂❤
You are an absolute angel Tammy. Im in England so this recipe is good (even though floetrol from America is expensive) but i have some primary elements so im so happy to give it a go. Think i will try blowing as well. You are the kindest sharing your recipes with us all. God bless you honey🎉
Since your fish tank is right there, would love to see you close out with a moment of the serenity and beauty of your tank. Thanks for sharing your recipe. Tried it and love it. You are awesome ❤
Je demeure au Québec et j'adore tout ce que tu fais. Tu es très gentille de partager tes vidéos. J'ai hâte de faire de nouveaux projets avec tes recettes que tu partages si généreusement, merci
I bet the skins from this beautiful swipe will be wonderful! Also you don't have to spin off QUITE so much since you don't need to get rid of housepaint, right? The gold lacing was to die for! I love the pigments; we're really going to miss Leslie. I'll have to try this. I got a gallon of glue at Michaels quite some time back. During the video, the fishtank is great - very relaxing. If it was here, it would make me need the bathroom! Thank you so much much for the lesson. Smo0o0o0o0o0o0o0ches Love ya!
Thank you Tammy, Im so excited.. I have 6 jugs of the paint to go. I never got far enough into the blooms to use it.. Can I use that for the puddle? Im so excited to try this medium.. I thank you so very much Tammy.. You are really a wonderful teacher.. Thank goodness for you and all of the other teachers(wonderful people) like you. I dont know where I would be without you...
Beautiful pieces, Tammy! Wish we had a Hobby Lobby in 🇨🇦. Michaels here has discontinued Amsterdam paints recently, as well as the canvases not being "on sale" at a decent price. 🤷♀️ luv ya more my beautiful friend😁😘
Hi, could you please explain why everyone uses the term "cell activator". One would assume it requires a SPECIAL recipe which is different from the other paint mixtures. However, since it's NOT different, the magic creating the cells and lacing is actually due to the pressure applied while smooshing the puddle of colors during "swiping". Maybe it should be called "PAC" pressure activate cells. Am I suffering Brain Fog? At 68 I am getting up there ya know. Thanks, it's a beautiful painting.
So the reason it's called a cell activator is because you use that one color to create cells where you want them versus having all the paints mixed the same way and cells forming all throughout the painting. Had a only swiped that cell activator over half of the puddle, only that side of the painting would have had cells. The term was created by the inventor of the technique. Not sure why she chose that term❤
@@paulineandrushuk8923 I was wondering the exact same thing - if it's mixed exactly the same way as the others, why is that one called the activator - they're in essence ALL cell activators then surely 😊
@@tammyandersonart Thank you Tammy. I use the gauge chart because it takes the guesswork out of getting it right. Sometimes the consistency looks the same but when I put it on the chart, it isn’t. I haven’t done enough to eyeball it yet! Love your videos and bless you for all that you share with us. 🙏🏻❤️
Thank you for another wonderful video can’t wait to try this but sadly it will be a while because of storm Milton my art space is out of commission until we’re done helping others who were displaced
Today's painting is so beautiful. Love negative space!! Love the pink colors & the gold. Gorgeous!! Definitely trying this recipe. Painting from last week also stunning. Thanks always for sharing Tammy. Can't wait to see next week. Have a wonderful evening Tammy. 😊💖
I have been using the wooden rounds from Hobby Lobby. You can get 3 of the thick rounds on sale 40% off, which makes each round $3.60 each for a 14” round. I paint the wood with gesso or matte medium before I do any pouring. The thinner rounds tend to warp.
Tammy you're an absolute Gem. Thank you for your wonderful videos. I have 2 (probably dumb) questions - I'm in South Africa and I've been searching everywhere and cannot find floetrol anywhere. Nobody has a clue what I'm even talking about. Also, the only Elmer's Glue I've managed to find here is Elmer's School Glue..... So, 1. Is school glue the same thing as glue all? and 2. What can I use instead of floetrol?? To buy it on Amazon to be shipped down here I'd have to take out a second mortgage on my home. I don't know any South African artists, let alone any who do pours, to ask them, so I'm really stumped. Thanks so much for any tips you can give me.
Hi Tammy! Wow. This new recipe is a major money saver for sure. The only question I have regarding the use of Elmer's Glue, I wonder if there should be a concern of yellowing over time? Especially with a white base... it would also shift the tones of the other colors as well. Just a thought 🤔. However, for beginning it would still be fantastic. The lacing you acheived is mind blowing! Thanks for all you do. The best teacher on youtube! 😊❤
Floetrol also yellows over time as it has a glur base to it and so does resin unfortunately . The only thing that won't yellow over time is a professional pouring medium ❤
Hi Tammy! Thanks for the video! My only question is how you mix the Cell Activator. You said to mix it the same as the metallic colors but do you use the American Floetrol or the Australian Floetrol for the CA? Sorry if I just misunderstood and this is a repeat answer. Thanks again!
Id also like to know what you used for the pillow. You said just acrylic paint. Can you expand on that a bit. If I don’t have to keep buying house paint id be elated!
So is Hobby Lobby not going to carry canvases anymore? I thought those yellow price stickers were items that were going on clearance because they weren't going to carry those items anymore?????
I thought the same but then I saw a clearance sticker and although they are yellow too they are different. They will continue to carry them though and at this lower price
There are 100 different variations to the Bloom technique. You can blow it out you can pour a Bloom out you can swipe a Bloom out. Yes it was just white acrylic paint thinned with water. Amsterdam titanium white❤
@@tammyandersonart thank you 💕
So pretty! I'm still new at this, but if you didn't use house paint, what did you use for your pillow? Thanks!
White acrylic paint thinned with water❤
❤❤❤
So confused do you use house paint as the pillow and then the glue and water as pouring medium with paints?
Thank you for your efforts, but I have a question. Is it possible to get cells using only water and glue without using American Floetrol?
You will get some cells using just water [no glue] if you use a metallic color in your pour. It won't be as many but you will get a few ❤
@@tammyandersonart thank you Tammy, I’ll use only water since American Floetrol are not available in our region
Tammy, how long do you let a painting with this technique dry/cure before you feel ready for resin or sealing?
In the summer it's about 3 days but at this time with it being so cold in the northeast it takes about a week❤
Thank you ❤️ 😊
Do you put kmar varnish on before you resin since you used pigments?
Hello Tammy. Please answer my question.
Does the cell activator color have to be opaque?😊

beautiful painting. I am so sad to see that Leslie at colour art is closing her business after 30 years.. She has gorgous pigments

This doesn’t look like a bloom to me, just cells. Blooms have more angular sections formed. Not sure I see that here.
It's a swipe, not a bloom.
