    Whilst waiting for your video to start, I thought I’d read the comments and to:my huge surprise there was a bit of a commotion going on. I’m in no position to tell anyone how to behave or what to say but I’d like to say one thing… everyone at the Chateau is working their hardest to make it their home however they would like it to be. It’s constant backbreaking work and a cheerful word of encouragement from us at the end of the day I’m sure goes a long way. If you disagree with what they’re doing or don’t like their taste, DONT WATCH!
    It’s that simple. Keep up the brilliant work all of you. Big hugs xxxAlexandra in Florida

      If someone offers constructive criticism (and I sometimes do) it’s not necessarily trolling. If the only comments allowed are flattering, fluffy, feel good complimentary ones, then they serve no purpose in communicating with the channel owner. We all want Terry and Ash to succeed…..and some of we loyal subscribers would like to provide some “food for thought” sometimes. Oh, The new intro is nice!

      Wondering who is going to sit in the corner chair behind an armoire? (Answer: no one.) That chair will probably end up being used to throw clothes on. Put a chair on each side of the window and a low table under the window. The small sofa in front of bed so people can look out at the lovely countryside and not stare at bed with the sun baking the back of their heads. Did I come to France to sit facing away from a window only to stare at a bed or be inspired by the beautiful fields and gardens? That would make much more sense and be far more comfortable, especially if someone is paying for that room. Be open to furniture placement….no quick and final decisions have to be made now. Love the bed..very elegant!

      I have to admit i thought the same thing. In the USA some hotels have separate rooms that have a set of doors with locks on both sides that keep them separate and secure, but if you have guests traveling together or a family that wants to get ready together, they can unlock both doors from each side and have adjoining rooms whenever they want. It is a desirable feature for a lot of families especially or couples that just want a nightcap together. To book adjoining rooms. And it already exists in your rooms! Reconsider. ❤

I was expecting whole weeks of curtains, upholstery, and pillows. But, there's priorities, and what has been acomplished in the past seven months is amazing. I know with the weather as it is, the outside is a priority as well. It may be October or December even before Terry stays inside long enough to work on the furniture. Oh well, I wait and look forward to a whole "Ted Talk" style seminar series of Terry's apolstery and furniture restoration skills!

    @elisabeth6108 Год назад +13

    This room is going to be gorgeous! The paneling is so beautiful and you have so much lovely furniture to choose from. I agree with others that a desk would be more useful than the settee. The needs of short-term paying guests are different than if the room was a permanent bedroom or even being used by family, who are busy around the chateau all day, spend a lot of time with other family and have access to the private areas of the chateau. Paying guests are more self-contained. Since the room sleeps two there needs to be a seating area for two to share conversation, a glass of wine, a comfortable place to read - facing each other, not perched side by side on a settee. They don't really need seating for 4 so the settee is superfluous. Short-term guests will need a place to put suitcases but minimal space to store clothes. With nice shelving one of the cupboards would make a nice built-in dresser; if there is enough depth, a couple of added drawers would be nice but not needed. One guest need is surfaces on which to put one's stuff. A real space hog in many rooms is the need to charge multiple devices - this might be a great use for a shelf in one of the cupboards. And of course, many people do need to be on a computer for at least a while every day, thus the need for a desk. Another person's comment about in-room exercise and a place to put a yoga mat was good too. The room is going to be beautiful no matter what, but I think you need to think through how it needs to function specifically for short-term paying guests. Love all you are doing, your wonderful family and how you are all devoted to this grand old chateau.

All of the old furniture seems to be so portable, the bed and wardrobe came to pieces and then reassembled so easily. Terry you and your mother have such a special relationship, it is lovely to see. I know a discussion was brought up on pros and cons of adding a bathroom to the lost room so I wanted to add my opinion. There may come a time in the future that Tracy and Tony will need a space without having to climb stairs to a bedroom. This lost room would be ideal and having a private bath would help simplify things for them. Until that time is needed you could advertise and rent it as a private suite. So my thumb is up for an on suite bathroom!👍🏻

I was under the impression the bedrooms are on the second level and those are the stairs I was referring to that may be hard for them to navigate in the future. If there is a downstairs bedroom, somehow I missed it, and if so, again I apologize for my confusion. Sincere regards, Judy

    If master or king room make it over the top in color, fabric, crystals ,and use of gold. Take another and make two baths being the one for this over the top. Good luck. It will be beautiful. I went o see them painted and then decorated.

    Terry & Ash, would you consider putting the small pink hanging 'tulip-style' lamp into the Cottage, if mum wants it for her bedroom there? Then you could get a nice big chandelier for your unfinished bedroom in the Chateau. Just a thought. Your bedroom will look really posh after you finish it, I'll be looking forward to seeing you both tackle it when that time comes! 👍

    I agree, it’s good to get stuff in to really see what works. To make sure that when you pick out a bed, there will be room to open the wardrobe comfortably, etc.
    In the spot where there was once a privacy room entrance, maybe put in a hidden tea and coffee station?

    Hi guys, keep up the good work. Just a thought; when we are taught to set out room for hotels we are often taught that you should avoid arranging furniture so you enter the room and 'walk into the side of the bed'. Obviously you have plenty of room but might you consider swapping the position of the wardrobe and the bed? I think issue often with freestanding wardrobes and daylight from a single source is that the corners of the rooms can end up in shade. I agree with pulling out that corner panel to align with the other shallow cupboards. Perhaps this could feature a small cupboard space where you might leave carafes of water for guests or mini Nespresso machines as is often found in hotels these days. I am always so in awe of your hard work and dedication to this project! genuinely keep up the great job.

    Love the furniture you’ve chosen. I can’t wait to see how you recover the chairs. Your mums chair under the stairs was beautiful. I’d just suggest a little more functionality as having a chair either side of the wardrobe seems and looks a bit strange to me. Could you have them around the sofa with an occasional pedestal table or something as a seating area around the window to enjoy the view and perhaps pop a little tea and coffee station inside one of the hidden cupboards. Maybe a huge plant or little bookshelf with some reading material for guests at the right of the wardrobe, then they can pick one to browse in bed? And a suitcase rest on the left? I’m sure you’d get some lovely old books in emaus. ❤

    I love the last bedroom in today's vlog. The furniture is perfect, works well together, and will look fabulous once it's all reupholstered. Moving the radiator under the window will give you a bit more wall space and straightening the wall of the alcove will do the same. When it comes to painting, maybe just giving the walls a good washing and leaving them that beautiful, subtle blue, would look wonderful. Of course, the ceiling needs work, but keep it simple. Add a rub with jewel tones and some good French porcelain and you'll have a knockout showroom. Mark

If you use the connecting space to make the dresser/ mirror area as discussed you could re purpose the panelled door to fill the space in the corner?? I love your no-waste, repurpose/ re-use way of dealing with the whole project. Enjoy your next challenges!!😃
