Genial trabajo.
This an excellent performance albeit in German. And really this repertoire just flows from her without the issues presented in some of the extreme coloratura roles she undertook here and there live. I wish I was there to witness this gorgeous performance. It is a very difficult aria on the voice and she sails through it in her own way. Brava.
This is not a live performance. It is from the EMI Electrola series of operatic highlights recorded for the German-speaking market. Moser also participated in the disc of highlights from Faust (called Margarethe in Germany, presumably to salve Goethe's bruised dignity at having been set by a 'frivolous' French composer).
CAVOLO L'EDIZIONE INTROVABILE DEL DON CARLO CON LA MOSER IN TEDESCO...! PECCATO PER LA LINGUA PERCHE TOGLIE LA BELLEZZA DELL'OPERA IN ITALIANO.SEMPRE STRAORDINARIA LA MOSER!
I agree. her interpretation is a little too Wagner-esque for my taste (detached and somewhat ethereal as opposed to fiery and raw). still, I thought it was a great performance

Veramente stupendo!

One of the dramatical best versions of this aria- who cares about the language?

I love love LOVE Edda Moser but I think her voice is a little too light for this role.
