If smbd wants to come and live /work in Serbia, I would recommend, that you come as a tourist. Stay few weeks/month. Look around. Find a real estate agent who is specialized for the region that you are looking for, and look around. Also I would recommend that you have a local assistant who can show you around and who speaks Serbian. I assume all the same is valid for other countries :) A NOTE: Real estate agents in Serbia usually charge 2-4% of the value of the house/apartment, but it is well worth it ! They are obligated by the law to check all the papers!

FYI there are A LOT OF houses in the suburbs of Belgrade, which can be bought CHEAPLY ! I bought 130m2 for 20.000e on a plot of 750m2. I have clean air, am surrounded by woods and have peace and quiet. Also NO QUARANTINE 3:) My house is technically in a village 25km from Belgrade, but is technically IN BELGRADE. For the price of studio in the city, you can get whole house. Its not good for investing/renting, but is excellent for the living ! This is NOT VILLA but very good house.

This is a practice done since the times of Yugoslavia, when prices for real estate in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia were on German marks. Now most former YU countries either use the euro as their currency, or have their currencies pegged to the euro (although Serbia is the exception).
