I’m watching you picking yourself up, going to the gym, and I see you sometimes having to push yourself, but you do it! You are honest with your pain. That helps to hear that. I have also found that I’m waking up and I’m getting things done, for myself. I thrifted new tops! And I realize that I have over 9 inches of roots! I have two boxes of hair color waiting on me tomorrow! I will be Blondie by the end of the day! I’m going to paint my nails and I’m going to read a book. I love you Stephanie God Bless you! My son passed as a toddler and this coming September 11th, he would have been 30 years old. The time that I was his caretaker and training for it, no time to cut grass, buy groceries, etc. drained (yet was one of the most incredible and rewarding seasons of my life). Friends and family don't step in to help with their care because they're scared. It's on your shoulders and your shoulders feel so heavy. I wouldn't trade a moment with him and I miss him so much. I really needed to hear this. I take care of my elderly mother with parkinson's and beginning to get some dementia. Plus I still work a full time job at the hospital as a nurse. It is hard to catch a break. My daughter moved back home so she could watch mom while I'm at work. But I work and then come home to second shift of a lot of the same things that I did all day at work. I know I need a break..but it is hard to get one. I've had mom living with me for 5 years. Thank you so much for this, because I have felt very selfish saying that I need a break.

The caregiver often puts themselves on the “ bank burner’ and we all know that we cannot pour from an empty cup. I did it too, and my mom did as well. I took her on a trip to Florida last week to visit her sister and she kept thanking me on the plane ride home. We have to do the next right thing… whether that is wash a dish, sweep the floor, make our bed or take a trip. when I was my husband’s caregiver, everything of course revolved around him❤which it should have.. when Tommy died I did a lot of coulder, woulder, should have.. he died in 2014, I still reflect back, but not as often ..I know I did the best that I can, and he is pain-free with the Lord now❤

My husband died in July 2019 of metastatic colon cancer. I was with him for 40 years, 36 married. We dated thru college. It was hard at first. The last 20 years of our marriage he had chronic pain, many ups and downs. I am living my best life now, reinventing yourself whether doing projects or traveling, you will get there. Take care of yourself, now is your time!! Life is short and wake up everyday with a smile and happy heart, dreams. Love life!!!❤❤❤❤
My dad’s last words to me were “Enjoy the rest of your life and have some fun”. I had been a caregiver to my mom for 10 years and then I was a caregiver for him for 3 years. I loved being able to do that but it was physically and emotionally exhausting. You must take care of yourself and taking trips with friends is a great way to unwind and “ have some fun”. Next time you’re visiting Greenville SC, I’d love to meet you and hug your neck!!

Hi Stephanie, So Happy to see you getting out and enjoying life. I am sure Timmy is smiling down on you. I took care of my mother in law the last 11 months of her life. From Sunday afternoon at 4pm to Friday at 5pm. 24 hours a day. When I left on Fridays, I had less than 48 hours to take care of my mother's shopping and laundry, my laundry, get groceries for hubs, and spend a little time with both my kids and only grandbaby. I was at a dead run the whole weekend. It was like I never had a break. I am so happy that you make enough to have a good living, with RUclips and sponsors. Love, hugs and prayers. God bless.
Stephanie I just watched this video and heard what you said that your going out and living life because that’s how Timmy would want. You were an awesome caregiver don’t ever forget that and please never feel guilty now. I’m one of those people who used to work hard, enjoyed traveling with my husband and now he is becoming my caregiver due to my deteriorating health. I can’t walk very far and pain prevents me from going out much. As the handicap spouse I too feel guilt because he has to care for me 50% of the time. He feels he has to be with me 24/7. I encourage him to enjoy his hobbies as I will be fine. So for us there is guilt on both sides. So please don’t feel guilty, enjoy your life to the fullest because you are able to and be happy

We live outside of Memphis but I've never been to some of the Nashville hot spots when we have been traveling to Knoxville to see my sister. After our daughter passed away and then her husband two years later we went on a cruise and I also wrote their names in the sand on the beach in Cozumel Mexico. when I was my husband’s caregiver, everything of course revolved around him❤which it should have.. when Tommy died I did a lot of coulder, woulder, should have.. he died in 2014, I still reflect back, but not as often ..I know I did the best that I can, and he is pain-free with the Lord now❤

My mother passed in December. She was 87, and just had a Birthday. Days go by, I called her everyday. I still sometimes pick up the phone to call her. I miss her so much. This is very hard for me

Another thing that people neglect to realize is that not everyone gets to grow old in life. I am 59 and incredibly grateful to have loved this long. My husband died in July 2019 of metastatic colon cancer. I was with him for 40 years, 36 married. We dated thru college. It was hard at first. The last 20 years of our marriage he had chronic pain, many ups and downs. I am living my best life now, reinventing yourself whether doing projects or traveling, you will get there. Take care of yourself, now is your time!! Life is short and wake up everyday with a smile and happy heart, dreams. Love life!!!❤❤❤❤
My dad’s last words to me were “Enjoy the rest of your life and have some fun”. I had been a caregiver to my mom for 10 years and then I was a caregiver for him for 3 years. I loved being able to do that but it was physically and emotionally exhausting. You must take care of yourself and taking trips with friends is a great way to unwind and “ have some fun”. Next time you’re visiting Greenville SC, I’d love to meet you and hug your neck!!

Hi Stephanie, So Happy to see you getting out and enjoying life. I am sure Timmy is smiling down on you. I took care of my mother in law the last 11 months of her life. From Sunday afternoon at 4pm to Friday at 5pm. 24 hours a day. When I left on Fridays, I had less than 48 hours to take care of my mother's shopping and laundry, my laundry, get groceries for hubs, and spend a little time with both my kids and only grandbaby. I was at a dead run the whole weekend. It was like I never had a break. I am so happy that you make enough to have a good living, with RUclips and sponsors. Love, hugs and prayers. God bless.
Stephanie I just watched this video and heard what you said that your going out and living life because that’s how Timmy would want. You were an awesome caregiver don’t ever forget that and please never feel guilty now. I’m one of those people who used to work hard, enjoyed traveling with my husband and now he is becoming my caregiver due to my deteriorating health. I can’t walk very far and pain prevents me from going out much. As the handicap spouse I too feel guilt because he has to care for me 50% of the time. He feels he has to be with me 24/7. I encourage him to enjoy his hobbies as I will be fine. So for us there is guilt on both sides. So please don’t feel guilty, enjoy your life to the fullest because you are able to and be happy

We live outside of Memphis but I've never been to some of the Nashville hot spots when we have been traveling to Knoxville to see my sister. After our daughter passed away and then her husband two years later we went on a cruise and I also wrote their names in the sand on the beach in Cozumel Mexico.
