    361- 36 seconds, 372- 33 seconds, 562- 36 seconds, and the 440- 30 seconds. Good comparison! Thanks!

    i work for a tree lopper which uses stihl pro saws and they are constantly in the shop. maybe bad mechanics working on them but they are constantly being fixed. i have a husqvarna 365 special that i have abused terribly and it is as good as new. i didn't clean it for the fist three years i owned it, i know better now but the point is it cut through dry seasoned jarrah and white gum approx 20-25 ton a year for 8 years now and the piston and cylinder look spotless, not a scratch or scoriing anywhere. i aslo have a 3120 and 394 that i use regularly and have found them to be far more reliable than the stihl equivalent my boss uses. just my experience anyway. maybe it is the extremly hard australian wood that the stihl saw doesn't like because of the dust and poor stihl filtration setup.

    361 - 36,8 sec (59,0 ccm, 3,4 kW, 5,8 kg without bar and fuel)
    562 - 33,3 sec (59,8 ccm, 3,5 kW, 5,7 kg without bar and fuel)
    372 - 35,5 sec (70,7 ccm, 4,1 kW, 6,4 kg without bar and fuel)
    440 - 31 sec (70,7 ccm, 4,0 kW, 6,3 kg without bar and fuel)
    Pretty good time for a 60ccm saw, I love the 560/562 ;) I have a 560XPG for half a year and it works just perfect, best balanced saw I've ever had and the engine is also a dream!

    I recently went to a dealer who sells husky/jonsered, sthil and ecco. I got there and a recent power outage caused problems with their computer system and the salesman was busy trying to get it up and running. So I ended up dealing with one of the mechanics. I cut 20 chords a year. Extract it from the forest by tractor. I cut from twig trees to 4ft diameter trees. Elm, maple and cherry mostly. I was looking for a 70cc chainsaw to supplement my 555 husky (which has been a great saw so far). After insuring that i wanted professional grade he steered me towards the husky section. I am familiar with the 2171, my father had one for a couple months and it was stolen. He then bought a 2163 and has had it for over 10 years and swears by it. my only experience with sthil was a farmboss that never started and ended up thrown into a field and left for dead. anyway the mechanic told me to stay away from the new 562xp and the ms 441. both have had problems and are constantly in shop or covered by warranty. the man works on all models every day and told me that the 372 /2172 is the best bang for the buck. both brand's pro saws are top of the line but when it comes to balance, usability and endurance. the model wins.

      I own Husqvarna, Stihl, Redmax which is just a red Husqvarna, Makita, Echo, John Deere which I think was made by Echo the newer Deere and Cub Cadet were Efco, and a cheap Homelite saw. One of the models Husqvarna I have is a 365 special with 372 top end. I like the saw but I like my MS440 better. I really like my Makita DCS6421 too seems to keep up with the others and its only 64cc and you can put the 79cc top end on it if you would like which I may in the future. I cut mostly maple, cherry, ash, ironwood every now and then oak and hickory so its all hardwood very rarely cut any soft wood except at home in SC or AL with all our pine my parents live near Erie PA where I cut a bit of firewood when I go up there for summers. Only pine I cut down here though is when we have a hurricane or something and have to cleanup after since my house is less then 5 miles from the beach in SC and right down by Gulf Shores in AL so we get our share got 3 hurricanes here in SC in the past 4 years.

    I use the 562 the most by far. All four of these saws are at the top of the game. That 440 ran real good for a stock saw. Even better when it went home.

    Purchased a Husqvarna 562 XP last fall and it flat out kicks ass! No problems yet from the fastest cutting saw I've ever owned or used. Have experienced good results with Husqvarna. Have witnessed several Stihl saws repeatedly have issues under the same conditions, work load yet from several different owners. I stick with what works and reliability is just as important as performance in my book. If you're spending more time wrenching in the woods than ya r cutting, might wanna reevaluate.

    Huskqys rip as far as the saws go. I have been cutting firewood for 18 years for a living in the backwoods of Oregon. I like Husqys design better, except with the pole saws I use for trimming peoples tree limbs. The Stihl had a way better design than husqy, but the husqy chainsaws just seem to be a little tighter design and easier to swing around when you are bumping knots. If you are cutting big Timber all day maybe the Stihls are better, but as Im cutting 3 cords of firewood a day alone, I like the dependability and speed of the husqy.

    I love my 372XP - unmodded, runs forever. Easily has cut over 150 trees - beech, oak, poplar, maple, etc. over the past 10 years - some easily 20" diameter - lot of tiny ones of course. After felling many were cut trimmed into logs with same saw then split with the 20 ton splitter or various mauls. Got a tiny little 136xp about 6 years ago to do the trimming now...it's a little big to horse around for my 57 yrs now. Only thing I've changed is the air filter. Maybe do the plug and fuel filter some day...

    Never fails. Do the Stihl owners always have to start right away with Bashing anything other than a Stihl? Kind of immature. I'm not against Stihl equipment but find some Stihl owners to be kind of "snooty" for the lack of a better term.
    First off let me say that I realize some of you have had a bad experience which directed you to purchasing a Sithl and I don't blame you. I would've probably done the same. On the other side of the coin, I have run in those who had a bad experience with their Stihl product and went with Husqvarna. Anyone can get a defective unit or have a bad experience.
    Yes we all know Stihls are good...bla..bla..bla. I think they're one hell of a saw too but for most who just need to clear their land and don't fell trees for a living my Husqvarna saw has made me very happy. Stihl / Husqvarna are the top brands most think of in saws in my neck of the woods (notice I said my neck of the woods). Now if you really want to degrade a saw then go knock the Poulan or Chinese saws. In my Opinion I think they suck but wouldn't give someone down the Rd for it if I saw them using one. Hey...whatever works for them. If they ask me what is a good saw I would then volunteer my information.
    Most shops in my area sell Stihl and Husqvarna equipment side by side. Talk to a Stihl owner and you will find that they feel that's a disgrace. Well maybe someone who drives a Rolls Royce feels like all of our vehicles are not worthy of pulling up next to theirs at a stop light......(and probably figure that its a disgrace to even have to stop for a traffic light) but anyway, you get my point.
    I have a Husqvarna 345 16" bar. Fires on 3rd pull, starts on 2nd pull. Runs like a raped date and purrs like a kitten on the ground. Bet I could go have lunch at the house come back and it would still be sitting there idling away.
    Will it last longer than a Stihl? Well.....I think that is relative to getting the correct model saw for what you need it for. Will an equally rated Husqvarna saw out-cut a Stihl? Depends on who has the sharper chain. Will it be as reliable with less issues down the Rd? Maybe / Maybe Not.....Most of this is influenced by care of the saw and how it is used. Husqvarna saws can very quickly start getting into the 1,500 dollar range for their long lasting durable commercial series. They do make high end saws but for my needs, my saw will last for as long as I care to use it.
    Ethanol is the true enemy for any carbureted small engine doesn't matter what name is on the side of it. Since 2006 I have had to rebuild my carburetor twice with fuel lines and filter and I now get Gas without Ethanol from a mom and pop place down the Rd. No more issues. Run the fuel out when I'm not using it and its reliably available the next time I need it.
    I think both are great saws. I am not prejudiced against either one and don't feel like I have to condemn everyone, thumb my nose up at anyone or covert those I come across who have a different saw than mine. Use what works for you and se safe

    Great video and test. I like that you took the time to run the same bar and chain on each test. That is huge and fair. I've run both brands but have switched all my saws over to one brand. I was a die hard Husqvarna guy for years. I purchased a new 359 for mid grade use and the tool bag was never out of arms reach with that saw. Everything went wrong with that saw. I now have a MS440, MS660 and a MS250. I think there is a huge difference in quality between the two brands. It is easy to see.

    The 560/562 also has a stratocharged X-Torq engine! The Husky is lighter with far better handling, and faster in the cut than the 361/362. We have testet it last may on a chainsaw meeting with friends ;)

    I like the 562 as well. It is a very well thought out saw. Seriously considering getting mine ported as the warranty is now up. Porting made a substantial performance improvement on my other saws. Now I'm ruined for stock saws!

    The actual saw times.
    Stihl 361 (0:37 sec)... Husky 562XP (0:33 sec)... Husky 372XP (0:33 sec)... Stihl MS440 (0:32 sec) (NOT FULL CUT)
    Very interesting.

    i have a 372xp and a 440 and am thinking of buying a 562xp as the other saw are getting old now. They have both done tons of work over the last 9 yrs and are still going strong. In your vid I noticed the revs were not staying high for the 372 which usually means the air filter is ready for a clean but then I read that it was on it's way out. Most 2strokes have max power at high revs so the trick to cutting fast is to keep the revs high while cutting. thanks for the vid.

    Great Saws!!, Great Video.! I was impressed most by the 562xp. It might have tied the 441 for fastest time. The 372xp was impressive as well. HARD TO BEAT THE XP HUSQVARNA SAWS!!!!!

    36 secs for the 362, 34secs for the 562, 37secs for the 372 and 32secs for the 441 (but the last was a incomplete cut). For me the best is the 562 XP.

  • @benyatrock

    I timed them. Rounded to nearest quarter second: 36.25 sec for the 361, 33.5 for the 362, 35.0 for the 372, and 31.5 for the 440, but in fairness the 440 didn't seem to be cutting through as much wood at the very end. Interesting vid. I'm a Stihl guy but the Husky 362 seems to do very well in every video I see it in.

    Nice video buddy, I regularly use both Stihl and Husky - 200T, 361, 880 Stihls and 395, 346 Huskies to name but a few. My boss loves Husky and I've always been Stihl. I've found PRO Stihl more durable - the British hire/tree companies and colleges I know use Stihl as they cut well and can take a beating. I've owned and loved Echo, Tanaka, Jonsered and Shindaiwa so its not brand blindness for me. Its all personal preference and whilst I love using my bosses 395xp I just want to buy myself a 660.

    Husqvarna AB purchased Poulan, not the other way around. Husqvarna also does not manufacture any pro models in the US although Stihl does. They did purchase Redmax for their Strato design/patents for which Stihl has to pay a royalty to Husqvarna to use. Any other facts you would like me to correct for you? As I said, both manufacturers are at the top of the game. I see you lave a trail of Husky bashing comments on you tube. Doesn't lend to your credibility. Thanks for watching.

      I just bought a Redmax. I cant think of the model its the same saw as the 439 or a rear handle version of the 435T. Nice light saw but the oil adjustment screw was broken in the box brand new. The Husqvarna dealer gave me a hard time and I just bought the part. Should have been under warranty never once had fuel or oil in it only had it a day before I took it in for warranty. I bought it from a Redmax dealer on Ebay probably why the local dealer which are both the same chain of hardware store blew me off and wouldn't even attempt to help me. Haven't got the part yet ordered it from them 2 weeks ago now. Would like to try the saw out if I ever get the damn part. Leaves a pretty bad taste in my mouth this is the second issue I have had with the 2 Husqvarnas I have bought this month. I do have a 372 though that I really like but I kinda prefer Stihl but most of that is because there is probably 4 Stihl dealers to every 1 dealer of any other MFG in this area. I have a couple Makita/Dolmar saws too I really like. Couple Echo saws too the 620p and 330T I just got for $45 somebody left it at the saw shop 2 years ago never came back so he sold it to me for the repair bill.

    • @JesseLJohnson
      @JesseLJohnson 4 года назад

      I own a handful of each too. I prefer Stihl mostly because the dealers are everywhere probably 4 Stihl dealers to every 1 Husqvarna around here and I have had issues with Husqvarna saws that should have been covered under warranty and the dealers gave me shit and I had to pay for the parts. Hell one the damn saw was brand new never done anything with it but open the box and put the bar on it. I just got it 2 weeks ago and the screw to adjust the oiler was snapped off so it needed a new oiler. Never had the issues with Stihl I have had with Husqvarna but I think they have better power. Maybe the few I have had just were lemons I don't know but when parts are broken in the box they should fix that shit free. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth from that one. I love Makita/Dolmar saws too.

    The 562 has a heavyer mount and crankshaft for bars up to 75cm! The mount of the 560 is up to 60cm bars. That's the only remarkable difference between the 562 and the 560. You can get the 560 with 3/8 and .325. I have purchased my 560 with 3/8 40cm from the dealer. KWF Prüfbericht = 362 6kg without oil and fuel!

    You cant compare the weight of 562 to the 362, because of the bigger bar mount the 562 has. In comparsion with the 560, the husky weights 5,6kg without cutting equipment and the 362 is 400gr heavier with 6kg. My saw runs now more than nine months without any problem. But the Husky and the Stihl are both excellent saws, it depends still to your personal preferences ;)

    I'm not a "Brand Wars" kind of guy. Owned nothing but Ford trucks all my life up until a month ago when I bought my first Chevy. Only brand of saw I've ever owned is Stihl. I do sawmill work and the tree guy I get my logs from uses nothing but Stihl. He has a whole shelf full of Husky saws that burned/blew up on him. That being said, I'd buy a Husky. I bought an MS440 about eight years ago, brand new. No issues whatsoever. I'll probably get the 660 next. Sugi Hara guide bars? Coming soon!

      Austin Denotter I disagree. The warranty on a Stihl's electronic ignition is a lifetime warranty - so the brochure boasts.
      A dealer in Foxton, NZ tried telling Me that the ignition wasn't covered. He was attempting to milk the NZ Stihl distributor AND ME!

    I dont see much better torque numbers at all. In real life we have testet it with same bar and chain (18", new stihl rsc chain), the 560 cuts 1-2sec faster than the 362. But seconds are not necessary at all day work. The most important point for the Husky is the far better handling with perfect weight balance. It feels even more gentle than my ms261 ;)

    If you think a 25 inch bar on a 440 is nose heavy, try putting that bar on a 361. Even with a 20 inch bar a 361 is nose heavy unless it is a Sugihara or an Stihl E-Light bar.. I love my 361 because it will cut like a house afire but it needs a lighter bar.

    Obviously didn't read what I wrote. Stihl does not make a big bore kit for the 660 leaving the only option to be aftermarket low quality cylinders. What you now have is a $1200 saw with a $89 piston and cylinder. And you knock the American made consumer saws? That was all I was getting at.

    You have a sub par aftermarket cylinder and think it will out last an OE Husky jug? Interesting.

  • @mweba1
    @mweba1  12 лет назад

    Nope, chipper clears better in wet cotton wood. I didn't want it to be about the chain anyway. With my ported jug back on it bests the 440 by 2+ seconds.

    Ms361 = 36 seconds, 562xp = 33 seconds, 372xp = 36 seconds, and ms440 = 30 seconds. That's weird

    I am buying a saw this week for log building, I was wondering if you could show a short comparison between the 562, and 372 for rip cutting compaired to each other; I am just unsure if the 562 is going to have enough balls to keep workin all day compaired to the tried and trusted 372

  • @JustonianInstitute

    To summarize, 562xp=new school. All the other saws=old school.
    Mitch could far better speak to this but I've owned pro saws from all the brands: Stihl, Husky/Jonsered, and Dolmar. No brand is "better" really and I like things about them all. The 441 and 372 are 100% rock solid classics. The Dolmar 7900 would probably have out cut all of these saws.
    But these new Husky/Jonsereds like the 550xp and 362xp are the future: sleek, durable, punch way above their weight, high revving, and e-carbed (assuming AT and overheating bugs worked out which seems to be the case now). I use my 550xp 90% of the time and just sold a 7900 to fund a 562xp which will fill both the 60cc AND 70cc roles, in a 12-13lb package that can run up to a 28” bar while ripping with a 20" bar. Again, the future.
    The Dolmar 6100 is no slouch either for a 60cc saw…

    What's the max. no load rpm for a 440 with a muffler mod ? Mine has got a stock single port muffler but I enlarged the existing port to 70-80% of it's initial size.

    Been accused of being a Husky coolaid drinker a time or two but I'd have to disagree. In my opinion, Stihl has the edge 70cc and up since Husky discontinued the OE 372xp. The durability of the 440,460,660 is unmatched even if some of the Husky's may be a tad quicker in the cut. As for the smaller saws, Stihl is and has been trailing for years. The 260 never was a good performer, loosing to the 346 in every category. They had a chance to make something of the MS261 and fell way short.

    I should send you a loop of skip chain. Not trying to make it about the chain, just trying to get an idea of the performance in the set-up I would normally use in the PNW.

      There isn't much that can be done to homeowner saws which is all the "farm and ranch" series saws are just a bigger homeowner saw with a clamshell case. I would just look on Facebook Marketplace or elsewhere and find a good used pro saw. Probably be cheaper in the long run anyway then trying to do anything to that saw and you will end up with a superior mag case pro saw. I only paid $400 for my Husqvarna 372 and $250 for my Makita DCS6421 and $500 for my MS440. All were like new and a fraction of what they would cost if I got them new.

    just bought a 365 husky for cutting bigger logs. have a 455 rancher that just won't die. I show up to a pile of butt cuts from a freshly logged area and cut 2 1/2 cords in 2hrs and load into dump trailer. Usually get around 10 cord. that 455 saw just keeps on going crazy like. Hoping the 455 would break down so I could get another saw. Finely decided it get a 365 husky because the 455 husky just won't die and I wanted a bigger saw for a couple years now. Had a gut feeling the 365 was the saw for me instead of the 372xp. Was going to get the 465 rancher but figured to go one size bigger because of the 28inch bar

      +Bud Geisewite faster chain speed some saws will sacrifice power. I run huskys with 8 pin and they dont care if you have 7 or 8 pin sprockets. they have enough power that they dont bog down.

    i have a MS251 and cuts very good on any size logs can i get a bigger bar for this saw? and your vid was good with these 4 saws.

    • @JesseLJohnson
      @JesseLJohnson 4 года назад

      The MS251 is a homeowner saw that I think is 45cc. Its meant to pull a 16 or 18 inch bar I wouldn't consider anything longer then that. It just doesn't have the power. I have seen hotsaws think their name is run up to 24 or 28 inch bars on an MS250 but they hodrod their saws and they are probably cutting soft wood. If you want a longer bar buy a better pro series saw. The MS251 is a fine firewood and occasional use saw but it isn't meant to be anything else. One of my Stihls is an MS250 which is basically the same saw. It could probably pull a 20 inch bar and chain but I wouldn't just stick to the 18 that comes with it and when I need something bigger I pull out my Makita DCS6421 or Husqvarna 372 or Stihl MS440.
