As a player from season 2 overwatch, I'm finally cured and don't feel the need to play it anymore. I've never been so happy to quit.

I hit diamond tank a few weeks ago reaching my goal, but just don't care enough to continue... it isn't fun anymore. Even most QP games I'd played to try and have fun was just counterwatch and low elo teammates not understanding the game but still constantly complaining. Played some open queue as off-tank Zarya with Queen, most fun I've had since OW 1.5 dropped; unless 6v6 comes back I'm done, see you all in Marvel Rivals. Thanks for the content Samito

I was a big DPS Doomfist player, I put alot of time into him a loved every second of it, there's a video on my channel of me annihilating a widow with a diagonal punch from back in the day. Tank doom is ok but DPS doom had so much more depth and uniqueness. I'd love to uppercut a brig just one last time...
The issue is, this isn’t news. For a long time now people have been posting “I’m quitting” “everyone is quitting” videos.
It doesnt matter if the game is 5vs5 or 6vs6. The balance team is the most terrible balance team ive ever seen in any game.
In a perfect world 6v6 will always have a better gameplay loop than 5v5. Just a shame that the original dev team couldn’t balance 6v6 correctly. Each new heroesque shooter that comes out takes a small part of the community over the years as well. Val, Deadlock, Marvel Rivals, etc. I agree with you Samito about the 6v6 dopamine hits. Been saying this for a while. There were so many high highs and low lows in 6v6 but that was part of the fun. 5v5 just feels like a 9-5 clock in to my counterwatch job. Not to mention how just nobody talks in voice anymore which was part of the original fun of OW1.
I've been into Overwatch since S10 of OW1. I've stopped caring after they dropped the PvE news and we found out they knew all along. I stopped playing after season 9. I literally uninstalled like 2months ago. Couldnt care less. Not worth my precious time. You only live once so go figure if it's worth waiting forever for them to fix this game. I might come back if they go back to 6v6 but honestly I doubt it...EVEN if they bring it back I am 99% they will still find a way to ruin it.
the game is unplayable imo. its genuinely terrible top to bottom except cosmetics. matchmaker is busted this season. balance is horrendous. i just play widow and sombra this season on my alt underranked account. so many people quitting playing against widow and sombra lmao. fckn hell these devs are embarassing.

I quit between OW 1 and 2.. for me it was the removal of the second tank. My fav role was tank and I loved the dynamic between OT and MTs.
I've played games my whole life, OW1 is such a fond memory - OW2 was a massacre.
I remember playing OW2 on release with a buddy, a third friend came over and was super keen to check it out. After 5 mins "So they just removed 1 player and made every map the opposite time of day is that right?" made me so sad realising how badly they did the playerbase.
Had like, 90% of the skins just through playing the game -> now it would cost someone a lot of money with little way to do that as easily.
What a ride. Was thinking about Blizzard + what they did with WoW Classic and with some luck; OW1 Classic with a straight clone of Season 1 through 13 would be a pretty decent game. I enjoyed GOATs meta ngl.

It’s crazy to me how I played overwatch 1 for 6 years straight of a game with less content and got really mad but would still queue up even if it was a 1/2+ hour queue, yet I after a month of 5v5 I couldn’t stand the game that’s what’s crazy to me. If they would’ve just updated ow 1 more and actually listen to there community that game would probably still be playable and I would be play my favourite game of all time

I remember being able to play for5 hours a day. I’m lucky if I make it 4, 15 minute matches before the tilt is actually causing physiological stress. The counter play is so unbelievable unsatisfying. Before the counter play was get good, and now it’s more about knowing matchup stats.

Overwatch 2 doesn't have a soul or future anymore. Other than overpriced skins, there's nothing casually nor competitively exciting to look forward too. To all the og/veteran OW1 players out there, I strongly encourage you to move on from this game and accept that it's no longer made for us.

I agree, 6v6 is gonna suck ass because let's face it: it won't be anywhere nearly as fun without the whole roster reverted to ow1 state. Aka DPS Doom, flashbang stun Cassidy/Cree, Brig effectively keeping cancer Tracer at check at 150HP with regular bash stun on cd, Mei freeze enemies on primary, Hanzo oneshot across the board on practically every squishy unlike now, Hog breather on cd to effectively counter more consistently again with tanks no longer being raid bosses, etc. People will say they dislike these things, but have fond memories of 6v6. Delusional to think these weren't/aren't a MAJOR factor on why that format was so fun.

I feel like A lot of the content creaters are very entertaining to watch regardless of content. I feel like they could play whatever. Lets say if Flats decided to play Overwatch one day of the week and dedicated the rest of the week to other games, I feel like they could play any game and people would enjoy watching still. I don't think they should have to play one game simply because their audience wants them to. If viewers get upset cause their fave streamer decides "Hey I don't want to play Overwatch as my only game anymore" Then they should respect that.

@zellsidious4459 I hate to say I can never see the pve coming back. They based half of the release of ow2 on pve. Scrap nearly all of it, and the decided go drip feed what they had. Then it just, stopped.

I did my 1st rage quit yesterday, ….Ever!!!! With Over 6000 hours into this game. I’m so tired going against a pocketed Ashe and Widows holding my game hostage in Diamond 1. Plus having 1 tank that plays selfish . I’m just over this game now . Marvel Rivals in December will bury this game

the thing about doom is, it's not that we don't find tank doom fun, it's not just the format, as someone who's tried tank doom in the 6v6 code as well, tank doom still doesn't hit the same as DPS doom, the whole point he's making is, all the dopamine the great feeling you'd get from hitting a rollout or just generally using the great abilities that doom had, these are gone, tank doom doesn't have em, tank doom has a dumbed down version of these abilities and one extra boring ability that don't offer the same feeling, the point he's making is, he will never be able to experience that kind of fun with any other character ever again because the devs just fucking up and deleted our character and replaced him with a winston copy, idc if it feels nice to play tank doom in 6v6, it doesn't hit the same

OW Devs balancing the game is like that scene in ANT Farm where they're stealing back a stolen painting, and Fletcher starts doing "laser-dodging moves" to avoid alleged invisible lasers (I.E. taking extra, unnecessary steps and precautions that end up just making it more difficult to get to the goal), but China just casually walks past because there aren't actually any invisible wires.

I got banned for abusing Rein (I think his stats are overtuned and kinda proved it). I charged into the enemy team, killed 3, went like every game 20 - 20, won 15games in a row, became Top500 and got banned for 2 weeks. Report system is broken.

I barely have any play time on Dva in 5v5 because they removed her play style. I was consistently top 500 as a OTP Dva main (rank 16 NA of all the Dva players at one point)but I just can’t in 5v5. I hate Tank. Ana and Brig became my favorite in 5v5. Brig mainly.
She's still really fun, so why not play her?

As someone who was a hardcore OW1 fan who never vibed with the more team deathmatch style of OW2 it has always frustrated me that people bring up double shield sucking whenever you bring up 6v6.
Yeah double shield sucked but it also went forever with no real balance changing. Of course a game is gonna suck if you abandon it on a shitty meta.

the overwatch team is suffering from bad management and an inability to admit they mucked up switching to 5v5. Game stopped being fun a long time ago and honestly this team seems incapable of fixing it so its time to just spend time on games that are actually good.

This is why Marvel Rivals will top Overwatch for me. I absolutely love the game and it was only in Alpha and Beta stages, and it was miles better than OW2. Blizzard have ruined their own game.

I don't get how it will take several seasons for them to try 6v6 when the community made their own 6v6 workshop experiment and it worked just fine. What exactly are the performance issues that prevent them from putting in a 6v6 mode now? I get that balancing takes time, but why not start with the numbers from 2020 when the queue times were even? Or maybe start with the numbers the community came up with and iterate on that. The game can not afford to wait until Q2 2025 for a 6v6 experiment. The game is in such a bad state right now. IMO, they need to disable Baptiste and Brig from comp and rework them. They need to remove invulnerably from Suzu. They need to address the support power creep that has existed since OW1 that was never fixed. Invulnerability abilities should not be in the game. AOE healing should not be in the game without serious tradeoffs. Lucio is the only hero with AOE heal that makes you choose a tradeoff. It's speed or heal, not both. -- Juno is probably the most balanced support hero they have designed since Ana. And even with her, they need to tone down auto lock missile damage.
I played Overwatch SINCE BETA 1!!!!! I quit when they finally announced no PvE elements, never changed how the store works, and how it’s just never fun.
The game is an absolute blast at times and it’s super fun in moments, but the developers have made no adjustments on the behalf of the community surrounding its own skin economy and style of obtaining them BUT ALSO the gameplay front.
We did same thing with my wife... Makes me sad. Other games cant give us hapiness like OW1 did :(((
qp is full of bots (actual ai) and comp is full of mental disorders. the community is gone.

Why did they take down Overwatch? I paid for that game I OWN THAT PRODUCT. They forcefully moved everyone to Overwatch 2 and slammed battlepass and skins on our faces. OW2 is a downgrade in every aspect compared to OW. They killed my favourite game and so have their player.

sorry im a strong proponent of 6v6 but dps doomfist was awful to play against in 6v6 and super unhealthy for the game. moving him to a tank was one of the reworks that actually made sense. im sure tank doom would be more fun in 6v6

The only time a doom was effective in OW1 was when the person playing knew what they were doing. If a person who wasn’t a doom main or otp, the character was hot garbage

I've been playing since launch and I uninstalled last week. It's the only game that makes me unreasonably angry. I'm bitter at the game, irritated by other players, beyond pissed at the devs and their overlords. It's the only game I feel hatred towards. I used to love it so much, but it's kind of like an abusive/cheating partner that you finally leave and it's a bittersweet relief.
I feel that, I literally got pissed at my father after I lost a game due to shit teammates, a widow holding the lobby hostage, and me unable to kill the widow because he wanted to talk. I felt like an ass afterwords, but you just described all that I hate with the game and community. I’ll probably have to play some more pokemon or Dragon ball legends instead of this fuckass game 💀

Was a DPS Doom main, dropped OW2 after trying the first 2 betas and seeing how they destroyed him.
DPS Doom was better in everyway in terms of risk/reward and skill expression. 6v6 won't make Tank Doom more fun because DPS Doom's abilities offered much more movement diversity, which is what I and many loved about him. They could've nerfed his 1 hit-punch in OW2 for all I care as long as they kept the rest of the kit the same, but now his slam is a glorified Winston leap and his power block ability is literally counter to his entire original philosophy of movement.
If you want to see exactly why old Doom players dont like Tank Doom, look up "They Destroyed Why People Played Doom (And How To Fix Him)" on the blizzard/overwatch forums. You can just google that name too and it should pop up.
Its a long-form post breaking down in detail exactly what is wrong with new compared to old Doom and how to fix him, was at the top of the forums for a while when it came out.
DPS doom wasn't fun to play against and the bias is really showing here. It was arguably the most annoying to play against and I'd go as far as saying DPS doom punched people out of the game. lmao.
Agreed, the way dps doom was is if he didn't have one shot he would be horrid without insane stat inflation and no one liked him playing dps vs him because if you didn't have a cree or sombra you basically lose, ironically counter swapping against him was probably even more necessary then than now
The game was awesome when it was 6 people selecting a somewhat balanced and complimentary team of heroes.
The game is not awesome when it's 4 players and a raid boss and the fight is over when one of the raid bosses dies.
Overwatch was good. Tankwatch is boring.
They ruined everything! Overwatch 2 was never a sequel. they manipulated and lied to us by promising us PVE, and after we were sold on it, they scrapped it and made it a cash grab pay to win BS! I havent spent a single dime on any new skins even if I am attracted to them. 5v5 sucks and does not balance anything out. I dont blame people for quitting. All the fun has been taken out of the game.

There are so many issues with OW2, the main reason is the devs. They don’t listen to their players and made changes that ruined the game. From buffing the tanks health/armor, changing 6v6 to 5v5, horrible maps and garbage new gamemodes, story mode that was promised never delivered, giving healers ridiculous buffs.
When marvel rivals comes out, I don’t see a single person playing OW anymore honestly

It’s crazy how many things went wrong with overwatch. There is a ROBLOX GAME that’s a 5v5 hero shooter and it arguably does what overwatch does but better in terms of gameplay. That’s not to say it’s better in every way, but they actually address problematic things and actively work and listen. For a team of 3 college students doing what a triple A studio refuses to do, it is really a shame

Overwatch‘s foundation was never 5v5 and they forced it for 3 complaints that could’ve been addressed in 6v6 + their balancing made them think the format change would have worked, when they only look at things at a surface level!!! Wow!!!

I’ve been playing overwatch on console since 2016 (low masters). I quit a month ago for good. I try my best to be unbiased and gave the game a real chance. I can honestly say playing tank feels incredibly demoralizing, unfun, and the format forces counter swapping for which there is way to much value for. Duo queuing tank with a friend were some of my greatest joys of the game, and now the game has become one dimensional. Don’t often comment but had to say my piece. Hope 6v6 can come back one day

Sam's right playing tank in this format is not fun. One of the most stressful things I ever had to play in the video game.
And the sad part is my favorite characters are tanks but I can't enjoy them because you either stomp the lobby which is boring or you get rolled and can't interact with the match which is irritating and also boring playing respawn simulator
5v5 is why I never queue for tank anymore , and the whole “We did one tank to mitigate queue times because nobody wants to play tank” is silly… 6v6 is good when the formatting is good, and I’d argue more people would queue tank if there were two tanks.
I know someone who has 3,000 hours on reinhart and he quit like 6 months into OW2. and numerous other people I played OW2 with have comepletely fell off. Nobody I know plays this game anymore
My philosophy as a tank main is that a dps should be able to kill a tank in a 1v1. A tank should definitely have the advantage with health and well-timed abilities, but still be killable. Try 1v1-ing any tank now other than maybe doom. YOU CAN'T

I love tank but the experience is just miserable dps is miserable support is tolerable but i get sick of playing support for 6 games in a row already

I like how everyone has to annouce they are leaving and that Marvel rivals is the best game ever made, the hate boner for ow is crazy strong. Ow isnt the best game but to say that you mfs will not complain about MR is future the same way you complain ow is not too far off.

I think Doom turning into a dumbed down version of his previous self is really the perfect example of what it feels like Blizzard has done with the game as a whole since the start of OW2

I remember when I was new to OW1, I absolutely hated facing a good doomfist. As I got better at the game, I started to absolutely love playing on a team with him and going against him. I was never good at playing him myself, but man he became one of my favorite heroes. I think he brought an interesting dynamic and a really fun gameplay style (I played a lot of Dva and Reinhardt). He really helped me learn how to listen for things too lol! I don't play OW2 so I can't comment much on doomfist now, but I'm definitely not surprised to hear he doesn't play the same... RIP OW1 Doomfist, you are missed! Actually, RIP OW1 as a whole lol. I miss that game.

Tanks should be renamed to the specialists role. Make them more squishy but give them more dmg. Also swap higher ceiling dps over like Genji and Sojourn
If they just reworked tanks to be more beefy DPS and just made em selfish so you could frag out more it would be far better for this format but actual tanks in 5v5 just don't work unless they can deal with everything

The game is garbage now. I would have preferred no new content and just kept 6v6 with a shop, but the OW2 changes have created the worst gameplay loop I’ve played in a while. Everything they have done has been bad since launch.

I've been playing Elden ring as of late and going back to Overwatch to play with some friends just feels awful. The only time it's fun is when we play open q and do duo tank but then it's such an unbalanced mess that it feels like we're playing a $5 game

4 minutes in, and thats exactly how I feel. I was a dps doom main, I started maining him after I had been burnt out and was trying to find something else to play that wasnt genji. He was the first and last character I believe I fully mastered, I remember being so dedicated to learning him, for a while I would sit and watch chipsas stream studying everything he did and said although I hardly ever watch people streams. It was so rewarding seeing results for the amount of time I put into the learning process, it was a completely different style of gameplay that Ive never seen before, a lot more on the mental side of things. I was rewarded not necessarily for my mechanics (although doom had some INSANELY fun ones) but for my understanding of the game and how to manipulate the game. I still wasn't as active as I had once been, but it was something so special that that alone would keep me coming back to the game. I havent played very much of OW2 and although I think tank doomfist can be fun, its become a whole different character and more similar to all of the other characters. In the first few seasons of OW2 I found fun in playing hanzo because he could 1 shot and I was honestly very goated during that time frame, but once they nerfed him into the ground I uninstalled the game for good. My mains over the years have all had their identities destroyed, Genji, Doomfist, Hanzo. I'm not gonna come back for this most recent patch either that allows hanzo to 1 shot, they have ran me off until 6v6. Also, allow hanzo to climb walls with a charged shot, I miss that
Yeah Sam said it months ago, 5on5 won't ever work for the tank no matter how you change it, got to give credit where credits due.
Telling u I was a detractor too but I seen it for what it was, 5v5 is simply an unbalanced mess that will never work, the point of having two per role was for teams being able to send one of each out to fulfill an objective, one tank cant go to point to make space AND defend the core team, thats what a main tank would do, while the off tank went to objective with one or two DPS, and a main healer with the main tank.
This is overwatch fundamentally, and changing it completely ruins the game, flankers have no time to flank, tanks can't stay alive or are too oppressively op healing is the ultimate culprit but is necessary for 5v5 format.

the gameplay is actually just boring with 5v5 the game won goty so why change something that was doing so well it was a core gameplay mechanic that there was 6 people on either team it made the game feel more alive
"Collective Burnout" is the most disingenuous thing i hear people online say about everyone at the same time not enjoying or wanting to play the game anymore because what are the odds it happens to so many people at the same time when they weren't leaving during the content drought?
I think for the content drought example is that people were promised OW2 to be amazing and a pve story mode, so they held on for like 3 years until OW2 came out. Fast forward to present day and people hate the balance, character abilities, characters, lack of fun content (as skins don’t count as fun content), and the promises they couldn’t deliver on has took a toll on people. I had my burnout and i would play like for 5+ hours once i got home from college and work, but then around like season 6-7 I burned out and bought Pokemon Legends Arceus and played that for like 4 months and enjoyed that game. To be fair, some people are mimicking their favorite youtuber’s opinion (as statistically it’s impossible for it to not be true) but i think majority of people are actually starting to get tired of the game slowly
@@aidenmeislitzer7774 that's a fair point, I believe that 5v5 has accelerated the burnout though. Love it or hate it the game is just less expressive than it once was.
@@jacobkelly1653 either it accelerated the burnout or people are just realizing how bad it is, which you could probably count them to be the same thing. But imho it’s not necessarily 5v5 just in of itself, because seasons 1-4 were actually very fun (minus widow centric map pools in season 3 i believe it was?? Fuck that season) I think it’s the balance from seasons 4 and beyond compounded with the 5v5 format that caused people to get burnout earlier than others, and then would burnout more people the further the seasons progressed.
