The most common objection that we hear is the number of holidays that China enjoy. The biggest holiday is Chines New Year. Which involves several weeks before and weeks after for that production facility to sort of ramp down and back up around this holiday. There are number of large holidays in the beginning of May and beginning of October which is generally puts them off circuit for about a week.
Outside the holiday times, the other most important to watch out for is the delivery of your materials. There can be a certain demand for electronics and recently is been the OLED screens. Just remember when something begins to get backlogged, the more predatory recognize a demand with the shortage of supply and they'll go buy up existing supplies to give a greater premium and sell to those who are desperate in a short term notice. So keep a heads on the demand of the materials you are going to use and make sure they come in stock before the needed time.
Another important point looking at timelines is to keep a closer communication with your manufacturing partner. If they've got a peek season or a large customer order coming thru, that could impact where your order falls and their production schedules. So getting clear times in when things start and where they finish and whats the plan if something comes up is a result of keeping the communication with your manufacturing partner.
One key consideration for bringing goods into China is always the Christmas rush. A lot of businesses do a bulk of their business during early of quarter 4. What happens though is the docks and customs here in the US is extremely busy in Q4 and oftentimes they are overrun to larger players(i.e. Walmart) and has much greater ability to push thru goods thru them to smaller vendors. So in a nutshell, if you can't going to make the ocean shipping deadline, you would have to consider air freight.
