Awwwwcrap!!! Just when ive got my mind set on the WA73 eq, got the money set aside, got the ok from the wife... Warm Audio has to go and make me have to start the whole process over again. This looks just amazing and is truly a tool I want in my studios tool box to shape and define vocal tones. Thanks Warm.... I think... 🤦♂️
What u get?! Both?! Im torn between the 73 (no eq) and this for the same price. I like the fact theres more control for diff options on the tonebeast but idk if they'll even add much vs the 73 lol which is why I gotta research
Always been interested in one of these! I really like that they have line input capability for coloring samples, just need two for processing busses lol
Thanks for the vid, I’ve been eying this thing for a while, and I think it’s gonna be the one for me. Quick question. When recording guitar, is it still advised to put a DI box before the preamp to remove unwanted noise ? Or will the preamp take care of it ?
looks like the thing has a di inbuilt, which is the instrument input quarter inch. adding your own di box would just go thru the mic xlr input instead. should be no noise at all either way....
@Time the Avenger ive actually seen people not buying their products because of the orange LOGO so I imagine theyre mortified by the whole unit being orange 🤣
i'd like to have a mic and guitar/bass preamp to improve my home studio recordings. I'm considering the universal audio 610 and this warm sound beast black or orange. which one do you think would suits me the best considering that i have only one instrument at a time...?
Paul Corben depends on how many mic or line inputs you need, mics / preamps you will record simultaneously. Look at UAD Apollo, Apogee Symphony Or Ensemble, Motu, Rme, Audient, there are many brands depending on your budget.
Hey Tony! If you're looking for a super clean, transparent preamp, our 12-style preamps are the way to go. If you want a subtle touch of warmth, I'd go with our 73-style preamps. The WA-MPX is a tube preamp that offers both clean & saturated options. A lot more versatility! Hope this helps.
Will it work if you don’t press any of the buttons on the left? Like if I use a dynamic mic and I don’t need phantom power, line or the other ones will it still work? Or do I have to choose one?
Yes! You're good to go if you don't need the 48V phantom power. Check out the below clip...It dives a little deeper into the description of each of the settings. Hope this helps! Let us know if you need anything else. 👇 ruclips.net/video/_RWZXk23aJM/видео.html
@@WarmAudioOfficial and are all these made in the US? I was thinking about getting the tb12 and wa-412 so I was wondering if you guys make all this stuff or outsource. I really do appreciate the help by the way.
@@eyeceeyooh - Hey there! The transformers in both the TB12 & WA-412 are Cinemag & Altran transformers made here in the USA. We also hand-inspect & test every piece of gear at our HQ in Austin, TX before it is shipped out to our dealers. All gear comes with a full warranty and our QA team in Austin can turn around repairs as quickly as 48 hours & we'll send a prepaid label for shipping if any repairs are needed. Hope this helps!
These videos are incredibly helpful, thank you! I’m curious if the tone button would have the same effect on an active ribbon mic, or if it only really changes the tone of passive ribbons, dynamic mics, etc.? Also, would this preamp effect passive ribbons more in general by adding more color when saturated, than it would an active ribbon mic? Any info is greatly appreciated!
The tone button changes the impedance selection between 150 and 600 Ohms, which can be valuable for any mic, but it's more apparent on passive ribbons and dynamic mics. You're going to see a gain boost with basically every mic when using the tone button option. Both passive and active ribbon mics can be saturated equally with this unit. To get more color on the active ribbon just engage the pad so you have more dynamic headroom with the gain on the preamp itself to sculpt in any way that you see fit. You can go more extreme with an active ribbon due to the volume boost, but at that point it becomes an effect. Hope this helps.
@@WarmAudioOfficial that´s what i thought. would be stupid of me buying the same preamp in a different suit. . . I LOVE THE ORANGE COLOR ! it´s absolute savage :D but most of all. thanks for providing me with this awsome tool in my studio. amazing with my ak47 for vocals.
For the love of God, I can't find a single demo of somebody using this to make "classic" sounding rock anywhere, which is a shame- because it's emulating 60's/70's hardware. RUclips is proliferated with videos of people just talking about the buttons and playing horrible singer-songwriter acoustic guitar on it- or worse, country. Is it to much to ask to hear some fucking riffs through the thing, like how it would've been used back in the day.
Early Christmas!just bought this monster!came in yesterday…looking forward to taming the beast.

What happens when you activate both the hi z and line buttons? Does it blow up?
So what's the difference between this and the orange face unit?
The color and knobs. Just cosmetic changes.

i hav the orange one !! and i love it

Will this work well with recording male audio for doing storytelling audio and hypnosis recordings?
Absolutely
Wow, this looks great for the price. Very nicely designed. I want to try it!
So vintage is always mid forward?
Looks pretty good
Difference between the older orange and new black?
The color
This looks great and good video walkthrough! What would you recommend as a good audio interface to go along with this device please?

Nice review, the preamp is very pretty. I have a question, can It be used as desktop preamp without rack mount?
Which are your top 2 preamp that you recommend for a TLM 103, To record male vocals, pop, hip-hop and latin music.

Is the orange one the newer model or the black?
The orange is the older model. The black has the same discrete component build as the original though!
Can we mix using this unit like other outboard gear?
Yes! You can set it up as an insert in your DAW if you prefer to utilize the preamp in a mixing/post-production setting.
would this complement my Apollo twin interface it or supplement it?
Compliment. UA Apollo products work well with Warm Audio.
Great video..thanks
Mine comes in 4 days 🤗

TB12 vs WA12?
Does anyone else that owns one of these (I have the orange one) find that the output is fairly noisy?
