  • Pretty pumped about this quick fix. None of the locks on the driver's side of my LR3 have ever worked, the internet basically said that there's no way to fix the issue without replacing the entire mechanism.
    If you use this method you won't actually have to remove the door panel but it does create some slack for the door pull cable.

    I fixed my passenger side door today using your hack and if I could I'd give you the biggest hug! Thanks for sharing and creating such a helpful video. I would send a few bucks but Land Rover owners are broke from working on these things 😂

    Well I tried it and it worked!! Thank you so much for making this video. I didn't even take the door panel off. Just removed the 3 screws on the side locking latch and maneuvered the locking mechanism and slightly bent that piece down. Reattached the screws and tried to lock it. First try and Shazam, locked! 👌😁

      What exactly is the piece that you have to bend, the plastic?, or the metal behind it

    So i just successfully finished my driver door👍 thank you so much. From looking at the parts it looks like the white L shaped plastic piece has a fin on the back of the metal lever that works as a return for that plastic piece when the lever is pushed in lock position.bending the metal down works as a return for the plastic. Thanks for the video👍

    DUDE.
    I have a 2006 L320 Sport that I bought last year - it had this issue and I replaced the actuator and door handle cable to fix it.
    Almost a year to the day, the driver door lock stopped working again. Of course I’m on a trip far from the Sport for the month, but I’m definitely trying this before pulling the whole door assembly completely apart again.
    Last time the interior door handle didn’t work either, while this time it does, so I dare to hope this solution works.
    Thanks for posting!

    Excellent video, thank you. I did this on the driver side rear door (US) and it worked perfectly. I tried once and didn't bend it far enough. The second time, I bent it a little further and I heard a small click... I'm assuming the bar pushed just under the plastic piece. Now it locks.

  • @kc550

    Just did this on the three doors that never locked on my LR3. No need to remove the door panel. Caution, because you can only approach the inside of the door skin at an angle, the screw driver is very susceptible to slipping off and smashing into the white plastic arm. Happened a few times until the little coiled up helper spring popped off and fell within the door skin. Door seems to lock and unlock fine without it though... for now. Just be patient. Also, note that the rear doors don't allow you to push the actuator assembly as far back as the fronts, so you're limited to an even tighter angle of approach. Good luck! Saved me lots of money!!

    I think what’s been asked before is…:did you hear the actuator locking / unlocking on that door when you pressed lock and unlock on the key fob? I think mine is the actuator as I’m getting no sound at all like the other doors but I can manually lock and unlock from the inside

  • @bigwaterblue
    @bigwaterblue 2 года назад +1

    In my humble opinion, that is not entirely the problem. The only engineering solution which I hate from Land Rover is the door lock mechanisms. I had the same problem with my Disco 2 and experiencing the same with my LR4 now. The main problem is that the land Rover engineers uses two electric motors with worm gears to actuate the lock mechanism. The problem is that this is a very bad way of using electric motors, which is in high load/low RPM operation. This carbon’s up the armature and eventually causes a short over the poles. The solution is to open the mechanism and then the electric motor and remove the short between the terminals. I now fixed 4 of these mechanisms and all had the same problem. Hope this helps.

    If only people were honest we wouldn't need locks! My Renault Scenic driver door won't open but does lock which is better than other way round. The price replacement is arm & leg, garage want £140 to just to look at it & say "it not work". Them just robbing you.

    Great video, I have same problem with my 06 RRS S/C but just from watching this I reckon you could pull this off without ever taking the door card off? since you just work through that little opening where the actuator was.

  • @rogerg8296
    @rogerg8296 Год назад

    Thanks, but before I jump into this can you confirm that you heard your actuator operating on each of the doors before you did this fix? My rear driver-side door doesn't lock or unlock, but there is dead silence on that door when locking and unlocking using the remote, so I assume this is an electrical problem with that specific door and bending bits won't make a difference. This isn't a criticism of your video which I think is great, but rather a need for clarification.
