Hi, thanks for your comment. It may be possible to obtain a mortgage where the tenancy contract is short-term, but these social housing schemes usually have lease agreements in place for up to 25 years, and no mortgage lender will allow such a lease, because they need to retain the right to sell the property if the borrower defaults on the mortgage, and they cannot evict the tenant if a long-term lease is in place.

Is this available as rent 2rent for those investors who have no money?

Social housing investment is accessible even for those without large initial capital, especially through the rent-to-rent model. This approach involves leasing properties to sublet to government-backed entities, ensuring stable income with low upfront investment. It's appealing due to predictable returns and the social benefit of providing housing to vulnerable groups.

Do we just contact council to give them Property?

Hi Zee. This is a turnkey solution, so the developer organizes the contract with the housing association, and you receive the property with the lease in place when you buy it. There is no need to do this yourself. If you would like more information please get in touch with j.mitchell@holbornassets.com
