Even as Indonesian, I do not support this. Burning plastic in the first place is wrong, but the problem is, in my country, the majority of the population don't really have a decent grasp of the concept of environmental impact, as long as they get rid of their trash. If someone told them 'I have a method to recycle plastic', everyone will accept it, even if it's doing more damage to the environment, since here, everyone thinks recycling is as simple as melting the plastic then remolding it. Here, the population's awareness about preserving the present for a clean future is... Bleak, to say the least. People throwing trash bag into the river is a common sight and no one complains (even if there's a sign nearby to not do that, and when asked, they simply said 'well because everyone and their great grandmother did it'), until there's a massive flood and they blame the government and using taxpayer's money for relief effort
@@AkbarNurPribadi this: m.ruclips.net/video/S758wEniU0c/видео.html It's a more sophisticated version of that recycler in this video. The main point is the fume treatment system of that facility
@HunterBidensCrackPipe That's why might as well go to alternative step by step, intead of relying on hard to reuse stuff. World definitely can do this, just like the move from CFC to protect ozone back the in days.
For those saying that it should be recycled. I dont think the plastic is salvageable once it has been dumped to the landfill where it would have been contaminated and thus making recycling more challanging and costly. Yes, burning the plastics has its adverse effects but as long as it is monitored and regulated (carbon trade), it is better imho than piling it up at the landfill
If you don't filter out microplastics and toxic chemicals used in production of the plastics, then burning it and releasing it into air rather than letting it buried in the ground is way worse solution.
As long as human still alive & plastic still a cheap material for industry, we still need plastic in huge amounts The perfect solution is to half the human population 😅
Since the factory and environmentalist has a contradictory statement, why don't let a neutral third party verify all aspects and assist in making sure that the factory complies with the regulation? Even the statement from locals might be unreliable (placebo effect), or the source might not be directly from the plant itself (it could be from the landfill or from the transportation from landfill to plant)
I believe a better alternative would be the plastic road. The Indian invented this method and is the leading country in this technology as well as in usage rates. Indian has built 35.000 km road made out of plastic. Each 1 km road consumes about 1 million bag of plastic wastes.
ridiculous. burning low calorie value plastics and releasing toxic carcinogenic gases is much worse than keeping it around in a landfill. Why cant indonesia make laws to punish plastic use?
These plants always have filters but emissions will always be a problem. Not all particles can be filtered with our current technology. Maybe we will buy them (better equipment and technique) from China.
One man's trash is another man's treasure. Now, one man's trash is another resource for producing or making things, like for cement, or better yet, plastic roads.
This is so silly and so wrong. Mixing plastic waste with other materials and using it as fuel will release toxins into the air for sure. That is classic environmental air pollution right there which can cause lung cancer. The ideal thing to do is to apply heat and compact it with tar, bitumen and other aggregates for roads and highway construction. It can also be used for foundations of low rise residential building of mass housing projects. There is nothing wrong if used for airport runways as well as long as it is done properly as mentioned above....
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 When did plastic burning become alternative fuel??? Then why did the US ship their plastic wastes to Indonesia and Malaysia in the first place?? roflmao
The US shipped their plastic to developing countries because: A. These countries had not realized that it would actually cost them money to process that waste B. These countries were not yet aware that the majority of plastic can not be recycled and therefore ended on landfills and polluted the soil C. The freight ships that brought product to the US went back empty because the US did not sell much product to those countries, so before 2017 people still thought it was a great idea to let developing countries deal with G20 countries mess.
@HunterBidensCrackPipe Will happen -ozone is damaged already thats why there is global warming if that's your question,an those things happening are why there's a plastic problem at all science proved burning plastic is a no no..

The best solution is to stop producing so much plastic in the first place.
Ding ding ding we have a winner!!!
Yes but as long as you have oil continously produce it will be very difficult.
Best solution is to significantly reduce human population. Sadly people rarely agree, even if they do they don't want it (including me).

@HunterBidensCrackPipe it eventually melts and gets in the air. In the summer that cement is 🔥

So this method brings both kind of advantage and disadvantage which recycles the waste as well as bringing toxic air by burning to create pollution.

This is for practicing "just do it"
Basically burning petroleum for fuel.
It be nice if the could use plastic to fix the roads in Borneo.
Countries in Europe and India are already doing it.
I think they should see how Singapore burned they should filter the smoke not plastic
