As a guy who live in the provinxe of Québec thank you. I cant ride it because there is too much of snow and the kther video about winterization are soooo complicated. Thx a lot!
Use 100LL aviation fuel. It has no water in it and never goes bad. My KX450F loves it. Not only do I put it in my airplane dirt bike and small engines.
Stud up some tires and keep riding. Get some friends and plow a track on the ice. Trail ride in the snow with gold screws or friction spikes. Just got to dress for it. Forget putting them away too much fun to be had out there.
I am storing my bike until the snow melts and I am wondering if it is really important to put fogging oil or a teaspoon of engine oil in the cylinder because my bike is a 2 stroke, so I figure it had its dose of oil in the cylinder already right?
5:20 from my experience modern cables dont need lubricating. it just makes them stick. i lubed mine once and the clutch became really hard to pull in, so i had to spend ages trying to flush degreaser all through it. i think they are like teflon coated or something so dont need lube. maybe the previous owner of my bike upgraded to teflon cables and its not the norm? i dont know. i had never experienced this on older bikes/ push bikes etc. oiling them had always helped. but oiling this cable totally fked it.
Thank you .. Great effort. Could you please advice me about how to store my bike for summer which is not a dirt bike season in Middle East because summer is too hot and we just use dirt bike at winter. Also the summer usually takes around 6 to 8 months.
Why would you leave gas in the tank, even with stabil?? The gas will be crap when the season comes around, you'll want to run fresh gas. just no point..btw stabil only claims to help fuel for 6 months.
Taylor Anderson definitely better but it still goes bad and you won't want to run it after it sits all winter. Just don't know why they don't recommend draining the tank? They are not old school steel tanks when you had to worry about it rusting.
I add stabilizer, run the bike up, drain the gas from the tank and carb then burn it in my snowblower, mixed or not LOL. My bike is usually parked form mid November till mid April never have issues and its always indoors. My babies don't sleep outside ever. In spring add gas and brap.
It's in the winter you learn to handle the bike because if you don't ride studded (which i think is a waste of money) the winter is not forgiving so you'll know when and what mistake you did
Excelent video , very informative and helpful. Except you shouldn't advice people about using water during summer on their motorcycles. Water will never tolerate high temperatures and will dilapidate the radiator insides
elcincero321 Actually H2O has a higher boiling point and resistance to heat than some conventional antifreeze/coolants. He said he used Distilled water which has absolutely no additives or chemicals. Just pure H2O
After you put oil in the cylinder via the spark plug hole, do you have to remove it somehow when you want to ride? Also does fuel stabilizer work with 2 stroke oil and gas premix?
Thanks for the questions. No you will not need to remove the teaspoon of motor oil come the next riding season. A teaspoon amount is not that much. However, keep in mind you will want to change out the spark plug after you run it a few times. - Fuel stabilizer works for all 2-cycle and 4-cycle gasoline engines. Cheers *Lucas Bercaw*
Yep, if you want to keep the aftermarket fluids shop in business then go for it. Otherwise just kick it over every couple of weeks. The dirt will settle in to the air filter more by leaving it? Seriously, that's some car sales speak right there.
If you're still riding your bike regularly there's no need to winterize it. But if you plan on letting it sit in the garage for a while in colder temperatures, then winterizing it is a good idea.
Great video I would like to keep riding my bike through winter but where I live there is way to much snow. Any of u wanna gift me a timber sled kit for a 2016 ktm sxf i would be happy honestly I accept any help I could get so that I can ride my bike in the winter 🥶🥶
No, if you got a lot in there, you're probably going to need to check and clean the oil off of your spark plug. If it's soaked in oil, leave the plug out, ground your spark plug cap, put a rag over the hole and crank the engine 5-10 seconds to pump some of the oil out (the rag will fly off if you don't hold it there). Reinstall your spark plug (might be better to use a new one) and try again. -Charles
@@rmatvmc Awesome, thank you very much. I just rebuilt the carburetor and had it running perfect, then I fogged it... I'm going to go through these steps. Thanks again for the input!
@@rmatvmc it worked! Thank you again! Not only did I subscribe but in the future I'll be sure to order from your store to show my support and appreciation.
how many sponcerships have you got for this video 😂😂 my bike stood for 2 years once and all i did was change oil then cleaned the carb and it fired up straight away i still have it now with no problems. dont blow your money on stupid products guys its just a plot to get more money out of you for things you dont need.
Why would you do this, Riding at 0F (no wind chill) is all good, studded tires, heated grips and or hand guards, warm gloves and neck protection. Of some type. Ice riding is awesome with studded tires!
I think you should fill it back up to the brim and use stabilizer, that way you don't have condensation in your tank and your fuel will be all good. If it stays for a while and you don't put stabilizer in, you might just clog up your carburator and all. So pjt stabilizer in, and run the engine for a good 5 min to get it every where in the bike.
How to winterize a dirt bike:
1) Put studded tires on
2) Ride it
@@drev1 no but ice, and snow is not more slippery than mud
@@drev1 a little less maybe because you dont see ice but you see mud (never been on a lake)
for 1 meter snow just assemble a moto trax . moto-trax.com/
Here is an idea instead of spending money on fuel stabilizers just drain the tank
Some people with metal tanks don't drain it to prevent rust.
Just keep riding!
Russ Paton here in Michigan it’s hard to ride when the snow is past your knees

Damn. A dirt bike requires way more care than I expected.
its really not bad man, its the best purchase ive ever made and I have a lot of toys.
I live in Australia... why am I watching this?
So do I, my problem is being too bloody hot to go out in my gear. Roll on winter.
haha same bro
exactly the same here bro

I just start it everyday and do a couple laps around the house to keep it all moving
I’m watching this at 2am and I live in sunny California.
Watching while I live in Florida..
Thanks for teasing us all. Stay warm down there!
Winter is the best time to ride
I live in Michigan, so every couple of days I just rev it for 5 minutes and make sure it still runs

I have a much easier method,...ride it!!
Tepco Cycle Repair unfortunately that would require a $5000 timbersled because the husqvarna te250 doesn't like 3ft of snow.

Either keep ridding or start it up couple time a week
I heard drain all the oil, fill it all the way up and just do a normal oil change so whats the right way?
If my bikes sit for a certain period of time I always every once and a while lube my chain. Even if I don’t ride.

My son has a 70. Can I just bring it in the basement and have him take it out and ride it like once a week.
There is no reason why you can't do that. The main thing that leads to problems over winter is the bike not being started or ridden.
So if I ride during the winter every weekend or every other I will need to do this? (Any tips appreciated)
GarrettTheFisherman no just make sure u have a stabilizer in ur gas cuz it goes to shit in about 5 to 8 days
Lane Tanzey Ok thank you.
Lane Tanzey rly? I use gas after 2 months in the carb with no issues
Mikhail well the pump gas in my area goes bad really fast and I always use 93 or higher and it still goes bad
I guess the EU is much more prudent in prescribing the fuel quality standards.
I’m living in north Georgia. I’m keeping the bike in the garage, so I need to winterize my bike?

Saying that a bike will get saggy springs if you dont buy a stand is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard
