Ben The Coin Geek
Old Pueblo Coin
That seated dime still knocks me out. That would be the centerpiece of my collection. Lovely, rare and suprisingly affordable.
Time to get a 7th opinion on the 1919-S Lincoln. Reminds me of a song... Gonna drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop undergradin' this hot toned Lincoln.
A Very nice and choice video for all collectors to enjoy and learn on. Super super coins, I have been in the coin world for near 60 yrs and I really enjoyed it!!
That half cent almost looks like a piece of chocolate 😍
Three gold beans in one transactions seems to me like winning the lottery. I almost never see one, let alone multiple.
You sell some good stuff Ben...I bought a Morgan dollar from you and it did receive a green CAC sticker.
You bought it from OPC and then submitted and got the CAC sticker? Nice job! - And extra credit for torturing Ben with that info.
I knew a girl in high school who had nice rim toning. She was quite popular.
🤣
Of course she was popular it’s like throwing a hot dog down a hallway
@@jkbear29 Perhaps, but it was actually more like standing in a really warm room with your pants down.
😂 I knew a girl like that , she was delicious 😋
😂 😂
Wonderful SLQ!! I agree...should be a 65!! What a glorious coin, but
of course they all are. Thank you for sharing.
That Peace Dollar is INSANELY clean.
Thank You for letting us look at all of those amazing coins. I learn so much from these types of videos!
Great results, nice job selecting beautiful coins to submit!
Great video, Ben!
I sure enjoy your unboxing! You save me lots of money.🏆
Being a Lincoln cent nerd... love your "favorite" coin with the great color and booming luster, but it was correctly graded at MS65.
Another great video! Thank you!
Fun video. Some fantastic coins. I loved the SLQ and the Indian cent.
Great video. Nice coins.
Hi, Ben. That 1926-D SLQ is gorgeous. No way it's not questionable color! LOL. Same thing with the 1919-S Lincoln. It's gorgeous. I love the 1876 Proof Seated dime in cameo. The 1867 pattern is gorgeous. I love the 1951 proof * Cam Washington. I would accept it! Speaking of Purple Hue, That would be a killer name for a song. The 1897 Indian Cent is SWEET! It should have gotten a cameo designation. On the 1845 $2.50, the striations seem to go more from right to left. The 1920 Merc is beautiful. I hope you can have my Type1 Buffalo nickel, which you have seen, evaluated by CAC. Let me know, PLEASE. Of all the coins in this lot, I like the 1897 Indian Cent the best. *TYU*
When it comes to those old NGC holdered coins, there's nothing questionable about the toning. The answer is simple: the slab did it. Rim toning from slabs and albums, in my experience, is never dinged as artificial/questionable.
@@jamesgoss1860 LOL, James. I was pulling Ben's leg.
@@donaldinnewmexico Of course. He has the worst luck. I suppose he should be thankful he got 3 green beans!
@@jamesgoss1860 do you know the best way to remove a CAC sticker from a slab, so I don't scratch the slab?
@@GardenerEarthGuy Uh, why would you want to remove it?
The one that surprised me the most was the Walking Liberty half dollar. I'm pretty shocked that one didn't at least get a green sticker.
Really good show.
Nice results!
Great CAC learning experience.
I actually got a older PCGS MS64 1925 peace dollar today! I love it! Yours is way better tho!
Amazing coins .. like always.
I don't know if it's just me, but i see most of the gold CAC stickers on Mercery Dimes. Maybe "back in the day" they were super tough on the Mercs???
1919s cent was smokin ! So was s.l.q and shield
Lovely, Lovely. I mean it.
Viewing Pleasure,,,, Is the only way to describe this Video
Thanks
Great submission. I’d like to send in mine some day.
NGC no-line fatty Morgans, my favorite coins! I love that rim toning.
That SLQ not receiving a gold CAC and the Walker not getting a green CAC demonstrate the issues with the CAC process. I'm not an expert but those are just tremendous coins.
Gold CAC is a big deal! Awesome video!
Welcome to the Dark Side Ben!
3 gold CAC! Nice.
Man, I wish I had an LCS near me that sends coins off to CAC. I have just one coin that I think has potential for a gold sticker but Im not gonna go on a waiting list just to apply for a CAC membership, UGH!
Roller marks on the $2.50, I think. Beautiful gold coin...
I just looked up the Norfolk half on eBay, I didn't realize so many cities had their own halves that year. Wonder what it would take to find a whole set? A lot more money than I have, that's for sure!
funnily enough, you were thinking of the Chinese character for 3 for the E on that merc. Ten looks like a cross.
Thanks! LOL - I only read those when I have a book showing me how to read them.
CAC reveals are my favorite coin videos. Great results for a first sub!
I’d sub the SLQ for recon for a gold bean. I have a green bean 26-D 64 in a rattler that looks 66 to me, so I subbed for recon but it didn’t upgrade. If I had to guess why it’d be that the strike is too weak, which is of course common for the issue.
I’m not an expert but could there be some high point friction/rub on Liberty’s head on the 47 Walker? Or perhaps that’s just how the issue often comes?
So many really nice coins!
The 1845 2½ dollar gold - Yes, the reverse is beautiful and lustrous. However, the obverse is loaded with many nearly horizontal scratches, and the die is badly worn as shown by the die crack running from star three through four and onto star five. Also is that a little die crack protruding from Liberty's upper lip? Granted the vertical striations are from polishing or wiping the die, the graininess of the profile head again evinces the worn obverse die and disruption of normal mint bloom.
In short, I don't think it was CAC bean-worthy. But a good case for split grades for each side of the coin.
Pretty decent results from cac. I have been thinking of sending some of my favorite coins there but nobody in my area is affiliated with them. I was curious as to the submission costs and time it took to get back to you compared to the other guy.
Fingers crossed
It says "not connected with any OTHER coin grading service", not "any coin grading service".
Odd that the CAC cutoff for Washington proofs is only 1942, but 1964 for business strike. The early 1950s had pretty low mintages. However, Franklin proofs are accepted for all years.
三 is three; 十 is ten
I talked to the cac guys 2 3 years ago about one day doing silver dimes and nickels (pre 1969 stuff.) And the answer was pretty much never. this was WAY before they anounced they were gonna grade there own coins and with that ( he didnt say this part, i dont know what all coins there gonna grade) but we will soon be able to have them graded by cac instead of stickers.
In general, are they worth more with the gold bean? Or resubmit for higher grade?
MS 63: $200
MS 64: $350
Super Fun Coin: $500 to The Coin Geek
Comment down below!
The 1925 Peace didn’t make it due to PVC contamination from the looks of it.
Almost as good as jelly beans!
I can’t believe the peace dollar didn’t cac
ben go online to Cac and they tell you what coins they accept. trying to sneak one thru won't work.
As someone from Norfolk, you ain’t saying it right if you aren’t cursing 😂
I would have cracked out the SLQ
just wanted to know what shipping service you use to send coins to pcgs or ngc thanks
Usps
How can you accurately grade a coin that is in a plastic holder/case? I think they're full of doodoo
Great video....only one problem. Badgers are NOBODIES friends....not even other badgers. Guess in Arizona you don't run into many.....so that's OK....👌
How on earth did that 1897 indian head proof not get a cameo designation, that is astounding. These companies just suck sometimes
Does CAC keep a log of cert#'s that dont meet CAC? Meaning, can you look up if the coin was already sent in and then got rejected? If that were the case that would lower the value of the coin and hurt you when you are trying to increase the value? Things that make you go hmmmm.
cac keeps the log on non stickered coins but we cant see it.
It would be so much nicer if you would place a price range on your coins.
Beautiful coins! How much do you charge to send a customers coin to CAC?
It costs whatever CAC charges. Right now they are not allowing regular submissions, only the more expensive ones.
Thanks for the reply! I’d love to get a sticker on my 1874 NGC pf64 cam seated dime at some point. I’m a bit hesitant though, because it has some toning that makes the cameo contrast less evident at certain angles.
Hey there Coin Geek. Love your posts and all your content. Could you tell me how you’re able to film them through your loupe? MS70 job capturing vids through your loupe!!! Thanks man. Much appreciated
Practice. I've taken pictures through loupes when selling coins. You get enough practice, you know exactly the distance to position the coin, loupe and camera lens to get it in focus. Then it's just having steady hands.
@@jamesgoss1860 thanks for replying man.
Yah I just hold the loupe up to the camera on my phone. It works pretty well. Don’t use zoom with the loupe though or too bright of light
I have a couple slabbed coins that have CAC stickers- what is the best way to remove the sticker without scratching the slab?
Probably really hot water would work or some acetone
Why would you remove them? More desirable for re/sale.
😇 Hair dryer is the winner. Works perfectly on postage labels.
Be interesting to know the cost and turn around time.
cac cost, $35 per coin, $6 handling fee. $20 minimum return postage fee.
How much do u need for the shield nickel??

If the Morgan 0/9 is truly and 0 over 9 wouldn't it also be an 8 over 7? Since the coin would've been a 1879 under that 1880.
Why don’t you let this customer pick which of your coins are sent to CAC.
Yea right 😂
Oh i read the customers😂
Beautiful standing liberty quarter. Would you sell it to me?
It is my customers! Sorry. It is stunning.
@@TheCoinGeek well, if they are interested in selling it, I'm interested in buying it.
Greek coins dude
Great
I like Greek coins too! 😂
So what was up with that one quarter. You just kind of babbled around it.
It's "NOR-fuhk", not "NOR-foke".
Identical spelling in Nebraska is Nor-fork. Home town of one Johnny Carson.
@@stevedietrich8936 just as it's mispronounced in Norfolk, CT, very close to where I live.
