This Thunderbolt was confirmed to be the 4th 1990 Thunderbolt in existence yesterday, the head has a serial of A0015574H90, and the blower has a serial of A0015573H90.
Hey, I've Been To Three Tornado Siren Test. Without Headphones. But I Was, In La Crosse, WI. So He Is Not, The Only One, Who Went To See A Tornado Siren Test, With Headphones On.
If this is the one on 47th and Cliffton Ave im staring at it as I type this. Over on the east side of wichita. The date is 4/19/2021 and it still works
I drove under one of these one time.. it literally shook my car.. the siren was right by the street and I wanted to see how ridiculous it be if I drove right next to it while it was sounding. I have only done this for a thunderbolt
A 1000 is single toned. This siren is dual-tone, meaning it is a 1000T with an A-Series rotator box. A B-Series would be an off-set rotator. I am guessing this siren is a 1000AT.
This is one of the last ones that were installed in Wichita. It was put in in 1990.
Scariest sound of my childhood

I was just under a Sentry when it was going off and it wasn't too loud. Can't really compare it to a Thunderbolt, though.
I've gotten used to these now, but it was hilarious to see the kid jump when it started. Also that noise make my ears wanna bleed 🤣
still makes my heart jump into my throat every damn time they test these. most terrifying sound ever.
kinda dumb to be that near to a T-bolt when it goes off...
checkmate
Fr they’re loud as shit. Even I can’t handle being that close to a bolt as it’s running lol but it’s nothing compared to a PN-20 or P-50 tho
those are louder than most 2001s and ATIs and the few whelen vortexs in wichita
No 2001s are louder than bolts. ATIs and some Whelens aren’t however
Nobody warned you that when the Thunderbolt goes off its like getting hit in the chest!
+SoundMaster 391 same here these can crank out 130dbs at least
SoundMaster 391 not if you beef up the chopper motor and blower. when they're factory made they can really crank out the decibels
SoundMaster 391 makes sense. but whenever you're within 100 feet of these beasts your eyeballs vibrate
+SoundMaster 391 I was like probaly 50 feet away to and it was shaking the ground
+SoundMaster 391 yeah I don't think so either sounds like it to
I like thunderbolt sirens.
did you get pushed by the soundwaves?
That Tbolt shook him and the dad when it went off
i think this oofed my ear drums
@SoundMaster 391 Yep
That's A Thunderbolt 1000AT
Transformers lol not cylinders

Try living down the hill from one for 16 years
Hey Freddy? I live at 21st and Amidon in Wichita. Where is this siren located? I thought the city had phased the Thunderbolt out?

As a Kansan... I hear this a lot...😐
I hope you like my Videos
+SoundMaster 391 Unless you're right under or next to a Thunderbolt, it isn't THAT necessary.
True. In this situation, I definitely would.
He has to hold his ears really it's not that loud
+EPIC CREAKY The loudest of the blowers is by far the A1 blower. That thing is a monster.
yes, it is that loud. I live 2-4 blocks from one of these monsters and it can vibrate my eardrums from 0.30 miles.
These are meant to be heard from miles away. The video isn't going to give an accurate depiction of how loud the siren is.

Thunderbolt 1000 :)
1000AT
I think it's a BT, on a map of the sirens, it says BT, how could I tell what model it is anyways.

What does single toned mean? I am rather new to this. Also, the blower and chopper settings, I am confused...
thanks
Hahaha the kid got scared
