I feel bery concerned at present because in my garden as from mid April this year 2022 I have had virtually no bees in my garden when in previous years and even earlier than May there were plenty. I do hope this isn't the beginning of something to worry us all.
I think that there was an error in what you said about when bees "emerge from hibernation" coz some sites say that bees don't hibernate, at least not how mammals do
Great job AND great information this video helped me SOOOOO MUCH to understand what is happening with the bees (and write my science project XD)Thank you so much and keep doing your fantastic job.
Please oh please explain why wasps are necessary. I absolutely despise them and I want to know if they have a massive importance before I get on my knees for their extinction. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON IT!
I have been hearing problems from the bees for awhile now. But on another note as lovely as Maddie is, where have the other people gone? I know we all love a pretty face but I do miss seeing the gents have a go every now and then in something other then the slow mo stuff.
This video was great. This video was straight to the point and it kept me interested throughout the whole video. It was great how it described that bees are pretty much a keystone species when it come it humans and plants. It went over the main problems that bees are facing (like mites, pesticides, global warming, and CCD) and went over information that I did'n't even know like how much money is made off of bees in agriculture and how if we don't have bees we won't be able to sustain human life! I very much enjoyed this video.
Now here is a question I have had for many, many years. Right now, bee's have the niche cornered for this food source of pollen. However, if bee's began to decline, would not some other species adopt this resource and balance out the ecosystem? There are aspects of sympatric speciation which constantly occur in nature due to new resource options; this being especially apparent in insect species. Sympatric speciation is a huge driving force to evolution...even to the extant that some insectivore species of lizards have become partial frugivor. So yeah...that is my question...why wouldn't "life...find a way"?
I'm not even sure speciation has to occur; there are numerous pollinators already. But would there be a vacuum period, where the bees have disappeared but other species have yet to fill the niche? (or they have to adapt, or the plants have to adapt, etc.) Such a wait could be unpleasant for food production.
Bat houses! install a bat box instead of spraying chemicals and pesticides. They eat the mosquitoes and crop insects at night. They're good for the eco system and also going endangered as well.
Glad you asked! As far as I know, they have a small effect as pollinators, but they're important for aerating and fertilizing soils. I suspect they also have an impact through seed collection and predation on other invertebrates.
But extinction and heavy reduction are two separate things. I am under the impression some people will die (anyway), but the planet would still be able to support easily around 4 billion people, so what gives about the false claim that we will be extinct after bee extinction?
Yes they do. Living up here in maine. winters can be harsh. I've always wondered what happened to bees during the winter. Well the honey they make feeds them during the winter. they stay in the hive and eat the honey.
If the extinction of bees did affect the food chain, couldn't we just switch to marine life for food? There's a whole world down there that has thrived in the absence of pollinators, and the extinction of bees shouldn't have much influence on them.
We are already eating marine life. In one part (Cant remember) they took so much fish they had to shut down fishing. Problem is we are taking to much from nature and not giving anything back but trash and pollution.
Ah yes, but let's not forget about the bats and other small animals that also pollinate the plants. Some plants can only be pollenated by bats. But yes, bees are important.
Muddy is exaggerating. There are many species od bees and then there are hundreds species of other pollinators. Most (if not all) plants that depend on bees can also be pollinated by other insects.
This host is so passionate and interesting to listen to! Good job!
Losing bees would be unbeeeeelievably bad.
(awkward silence) (someone in the distance coughs)
BioniclesaurKing4t2 dont forget the crickets....
+animaladventures14 Nah we would just need to stop being so reliant on these insects. Artificial food and such will save the day.
uhm i geass you know by now that bees are going extingt
Watching this video made me so anxious.....
I have to say, the slow motion footage of bees is really amazing. They really are under-appreciated animals.
Not the beeeeees
what about wasps?
why is no one in this science channels telling the fact that most of this problems can be traced to the excess of humans currently existing?
I'm with you.
You make me happy, i don't know why totally but seeing your smile and hearing your voice has just made my day! Thank you
She reminds me of Isla Fisher ... so beautiful.

I guess they are the bee's knees of pollination...... I'm terrible
It was a cute pun. Just bee-lieve in yourself, honey and you will make great puns
Wy'Kia ohh be hive you two this aint the time to bee bumbling about... itryed
drag0nb0lt666 cute
thanks!I needed a new way to do music! I'll probably focus on this more. I didn't know this was an issue but I have a few solutions ~
Maybe once bee's go "extinct" our population will die down and the bee population will make a come back.
Such a sad and serious matter. Its worrying sometimes how many dead bees I see about.
... I. See. Dead. Bee'ple...! :D
I think that there was an error in what you said about when bees "emerge from hibernation" coz some sites say that bees don't hibernate, at least not how mammals do
Bees are the most amazing and fascinating insects.
No more honey? I'm glad my fruits and vegetables are organic!

Excuse me ,How canI get the transcripts as pdf ?

I like you maddy so much.you are my favorite youtuber.the way you speak and your accent is so beautiful.
4:41 i like that solution
One of the reasons why I watch the videos here is because she is the most beautiful genius I know of.
why is she smiling, like she is talking about an exciting holiday plan?
I love her accent, thanks for the info.
"Hi I'm Madey", I can hear that for hours baby
Oof, this comment has been up for 6 years and no likes or comments
............rip
nice video
does someone perhaps know where I can find the background music?
tnx :D
Can you enable closed captions for this video please!!!
1:13 Girl be having a drinking problem me think? 🤔 Me on the other hand, me be grateful for my beer! 🤗
I was once very afraid of honeybees. Bumblebees, however, are almost docile!
Did she put a used spoon back to the honey jar?
actually we don't even need half the amount of food in the supermarket majority of them are thrown away spoilt waste of food
Why do we shiver when we get really scared?
"Do we need em?"
We need to get Karl Pilkington's opinion :p
the title of this video should be "why are bees declining", not "what if bees went extinct"
She's so beautiful.
Ugh we're killing ourselves slowly
This video is frickin' scary.
Ok, so you've finally shown me why bees are necessary for our planet. But, what are wasps good for?
I figured it out. It's the damn scrunching of the nose she does! It's like trying to stay mad at a puppy. You just can't
Bees are my biggest phobia but I wouldn't want them going extinct.
Earth would be a better place
Respect the bees, they are our planet defender, without bees theres No green land No Clear blue sky,so we must protect the bees WHOS WITH ME!!!!!
How can we help?
4:40 :D My thoughts exactly, I'm on my way over! All tho i don't see how it will help with the bee problem.
What would happen if al the flies died? So mosquitos, etc.
Heh "I know everyone bangs on about saving every last species" - *rolls eyes*
Without bee's I would not be allergic to anything XD
thumbs down because without bees we wouldnt bee able to create honey jeez
Sadly, I think Monsanto is looking forward to all of whats coming..... They will have expensive exclusive ($$$$$) answers......
Did you guys know that the bee (not sure which kind) only produces around half a tea spoon of honey in its lifetime?Yet we cal them "busy bees".
Bat houses! install a bat box instead of spraying chemicals and pesticides. They eat the mosquitoes and crop insects at night. They're good for the eco system and also going endangered as well.
Do animals experience brainfreeze? Can they also experience headaches?
I am voting for the killer bees solution it's simple and dangerous at the same time :D
what about butterflies?
now some of them are on the endangered list
The BBC is going out of business. Yippeee :)
I work with a guy who is afraid of bees I'm trying to convince him that they are fine and he should just leave them be.
What about ants?
Glad you asked! As far as I know, they have a small effect as pollinators, but they're important for aerating and fertilizing soils. I suspect they also have an impact through seed collection and predation on other invertebrates.
Monsanto is wiping out the bee population..
More sex is always the answer. Unless you're in prison.
Humanity is in for a big problem at the rate bees are dying! Food will be in high demand and very little diversity.
can you be my honey bee ?
But extinction and heavy reduction are two separate things. I am under the impression some people will die (anyway), but the planet would still be able to support easily around 4 billion people, so what gives about the false claim that we will be extinct after bee extinction?
Bees are great. Wasps, on the other hand...
Wasps are also great I have seen them doing nice work by getting ride of pests
As well as humans
I have Neerly touched one thy are haremless
Oh no! who want's to live in a world without cocktails? Bees are the best :-D
Everyone plant flowers in your backyard stat.
NOT THE BEES!
Without bedbugs the world would be a better place
No we need less people
Hmmm....
Subbed :D
uh, Other Insects pollenate plants....... Not a lot of people know this though. that's why they make videos Like this
Bee's do the majority of the work though.
Do some animals grow "grey hair" as they grow older?
Maybe we could make well programmed nanobot bees
That's to hard and for the entire world please no
This video should be named What are the reasons bees are in danger, not what if bees went extinct. bah.
Beeeeeautiful :D
wouldn't other animals take their niche ? as the coyotes take the wolves roll when the disappeared from yellowstone?
Bees do a large majority of pollination although other species do help the pollination process
A lot of our oxygen does come from plants in the ocean right? Does bees effect them too?
She literally put the spoon back in the jar of honey after tasting some. Like why?
Wait a minute your telling me that bees actually HIBERNATE?! 😂
Yes they do. Living up here in maine. winters can be harsh. I've always wondered what happened to bees during the winter. Well the honey they make feeds them during the winter. they stay in the hive and eat the honey.
Beeeeeesss
wat about humming birds and other bugs ppl plus MY BRO LOVES HORNETS SO IDK
Weren't the mites a problem before
Save the bees
BEES FTW
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssss!!!!!!
Free the bees
Like of you want Blake to do a honeybees documentray on animal planet.
Problem is we are taking to much from nature and not giving anything back but trash and pollution.
no, we are fucked if the bees go. period.
Have you even seen bee movie?
lol
Hydroponic lettuce to the rescue! Who needs stupid bees!?
Ah yes, but let's not forget about the bats and other small animals that also pollinate the plants. Some plants can only be pollenated by bats.
But yes, bees are important.
Hello I`m Maddie, the only real reason guys care about bees :-)))
1:12 - 1:25
XD So sad...
at one point they showed a video of a drone fly not a honeybee... but otherwise great video.
I feel sorry for the bees :(
We would die, more then we do.
4:40-4:44
Muddy is exaggerating. There are many species od bees and then there are hundreds species of other pollinators. Most (if not all) plants that depend on bees can also be pollinated by other insects.
I think we all seen the Bee Movie by now -_-
Tell us something we don't know.
But why the hell is she laughing? It's not really a fun message to tell.
Plant lots of flowers and buy local eco honey, best thing civilians can do for the bees.
