Ridiculous how do you negotiate for something that belong to you? The problem with the Afrikaner is they are very lenient they don't really care, what happen must happen I mean look at the state of this country it is falling apart. When will the Afrikaner stand up and say enough is enough? This law will be implemented in full and if not now then it will happen soon anyway. I will never sign any petition whatsoever to stop this BELA bill for the simple reason you don't negotiate about anything that belong to you, secondly the ANC have never give any attention to signed petitions, they just don't believe in it.
All law abiding citizens must fight the evil ANC as much as possible

Dude, I know you think its funny, but its not true, and its frustrating that some people might think this. Many Afrikaans and Afrikaners people is putting in allot of effort to nurture a approach of "mutual respect". We wont lay down like weak dogs and betray who we are and what we believe is important. We will negotiate hard, but I assure you, most of us is doing this with in good will and in a mutually beneficial and respectful way.

Fact: Majority of people who speak Afrikaans are black. Black townships have always had people whose first language was Afrikaans and were referred to as "bo Maspekere". The noise about threats to the Afrikaans language is by people who just love to be more special than others. I can bet that my friend's late mother who strictly spoke Afrikaans despite being married to a Zulu speaking man and had Setswana/ Sepedi speaking children would not be bothered with this BELA noise.
Fact: Language shifting (Where a minority language get overwhelmed and absorbed by a dominant language) exists and is the single biggest threat to any and all minority languages. This phenomena is well documented and supported by evidence. Fact: Afrikaans is vulnerable to this phenomena and the statistics prove that Afrikaans is systematically being pushed away and overwhelmed.
If you believe that the Zulu language (and associated culture) is worth preserving, then you will need to seriously start appreciating this is allot more. Did you know that when Afrikaans people pointed out that mother tongue education is incredible important for education in the past, that they were accused of "making noise" or the usual "because racism" bs. Today, despite a great deal of denial, sabotage and vilification it is has been scientifically proven to be true.
What about XiVenda or Xitsonga? People who for decades believed they were more special than others will always whine. All of us compromise when we speak English.

Build capacity and alternatives, inspire passion and drive your language / culture forward. Limit English, maximize your own language. Take pride in who you are. If you're not serious or you don't have confidence, then don't project your weakness on us. Complaining about people that "whine" because they feel like they are "special"? What kind of argument is that? Since when is self respect a sin? Since when is standing up against those that want to control you "whining"? Explain the whataboutism about Venda and Tsonga. They deserve to be respected and supported just like everybody else. We should invest extra to inspire people to be themselves and avoid "compromising everything".

@@nedor64 No money of tax payers should be spent on one official language, all languages are equal and should receive same privileges. Afrikaans has been receiving huge investment from government since apartheid years till now. This said, it means more resources should be allocated to undeveloped languages until all are perceived as equal in terms of value and development period.

I can take you to world class Afrikaans schools in my suburb, all the money spent there come from the parents. That is the only reason the ANC want that schools it is because it is well developed, well planned with professional teachers. The previously advantaged don’t like to be inconvenient.
the "previously advantaged" has been " disadvantaged" a good deal them selves by the British ... English was pushed down the the throats of the '"previously advantaged" after the Boer War when a great push was made to turn the Boers into good second class little Britishers by attacking their language. The only difference is that the Afrikaner learned to speak English .. they were intelligent enough to realise that it gave them the advantage. Very few English speaking South Africans could speak Afrikaans after leaving school.. low IQ or just the sense of superiority that was so obvious amongst the 'victors' of the war! We don't seem to learn from past mistakes.. you touch our language.. and you see your "g-t"! The ANC has just signed into law the beginning of the Balkanisation of South Africa.
