I have these wheels. And after just 3000km of use, the rear hub started disengaging. Not sure if this is a common problem to DT Swiss 180 EXP hubs. Luckily they are super easy to service, without the need for any special tools. I also find that the amount of rim plus all the rubber from big tires, there is plenty for the wind to catch on to. At least compared to my old alu rims with 30mm profile and 28mm tires, they seem twitchy when there are strong gusts. Apart from that they seem sturdy, smashed into several pot holes on both tarmac and gravel without getting a scratch. And they feel great going fast, and when your out of the saddle pushing hard uphill.
As an update the issues was from faulty tolerances of the EXP hub. Got the internals swapped out as they became unusable at about 4000km. Since then I have used them for another 12000km with zero issues.
Based on your review got a pair of Terra CLX' for my 2021 Diverge Expert. Great upgrade for the bike. Although the standard wheels on the bike are mediocre, so any premium wheel will be so much better, love the ride feel of new Terra's, a major upgrade:). thanks for reviewing wheels JOM!
I’m looking for the 650b wider rims now. The inner 27-30mm seems to be the ideal width for 47-55c tires if you want a better supple ride with floatation
Nice video as always. Btw, Jom. Could you make a review of those Tracer tires? I had a set spec'd on my Spz Crux and hated them. The 700x33 version may be too narrow for me...
Hi ! It sounds like there is a 52T ratchet inside. Is that correct ? All the reviews I’ve seen sound like a 52T. Or at least 36T. Mine came with a 18T ratchet. Weird ?
About a 100 grams lighter. But, an even lighter option is to go with the soon-to-be launched Berd Gravel wheels, which come in at 1,180 grams with rim tape and valves.
@@charliespanjers2862 I do have a question I noticed that the spokes have been getting loose. I took them to Jeremy at capps and he was able to tighten them. So no biggy. Is it common to have to get them retightened?
@@mazerickd Due to their viscoelastic properties, the spokes will lose some tension, especially over the first few months during the initial bedding in period.
Looks like a nice wheel set.
Life is too short to ride cheap bikes and to drink cheap beer.

lovely video
My friend Bill Lewis (William Lewis Imports) was the US importer. I believe the Roval name was bought by Specialized.
I remember that company. Yes, Specialized bought the name many years ago.
lovely stuff

Lucky for you that Roval makes the CLX EVO model in 650b. Wider rims.

Anyway,nice wheels
Have you tried removing the valve core during inflation?
Gravel Cyclist
Yes,ofcourse.
But i manage to get them on after 2 hours
I wonder how light you could get these with berdspokes?

What about Reserve wheels, seem similar but way less $
Are those the wheels manufactured by Santa Cruz? If so, they have not reached out to us for a review.
So how much do they weigh with tires and rotors
You know I won't answer that question... depends on tyres, rotor size and so on.
Really that question ? 🤦♂️😂
35 or 42c?
Not sure what you're asking there, but I rode the wheels with 700c x 35mm, 38mm and 42mm tyres.
@@GravelCyclist how wide are the 35c gravelking sks on those rims?
@@AmsterDanTheAmerican About 38mm
So you're a woodturner too... 👍
My friend is... he builds some sweet stuff.
the rear wheel ist out of true after 3000 km
Not worth the price. That brand isn't worth anything. It's just Specialized Marketing. Buy some Farsports wheels or something.
