Another spot on review Mike! I do like Let's Make a Bus Route The Dice Game more than Newsboys, but I've played that game a lot more. It's funny because both games have a rather intimidating (yet incredibly thorough) rulebook. You see the approachable art, and then this rulebook comes and slaps you in the face. Still an excellent X and write and is easily in my Top 10 of X & Writes from Asia, but without question, it's the best Roll & Flip & Write of all time!
I'd be very interested in a ranked like top 10 list of Saashi and Saashi games. I feel like these are such a specific niche and you guys all seem to like them all a lot, I'd be very curious how y'all rank them against each other.
After this review, I’m glad I picked this game up without train it out. We watched a group play it and they were kind enough to explain what they were doing. Plus: Roll and write and a newspaper topic!
I had to laugh at 9 minutes in when Mike mentioned the name of the game again, and I was confused for a moment, because there's ZERO theme that comes through from the game. Even as I type this, my brain is struggling to connect "newsboys" to what I was seeing.
Mike... apropos of nothing, did you stay in Köln/Cologne when you went to Essen, or were you just roaming? Because I was confused by the Vlog with both Köln and Wuppertal in it, as that upside-down monorail will not take you the Dom. (I assume you stayed outside Essen, otherwise you'd have no reason to be in the Essen Hauptbahnhof. Also, you were suspiciously alone.)
I stayed in Essen at a hotel just steps from the Hauptbanhof station. Wuppertal is where one of our Dice Tower friends and booth workers lives. She kindly took me there to ride the train, and afterwards took me to Köln to see the cathedral.
@@michaeldilisio557 Nice. I was there last year. Didn't go to Wuppertal but stayed in Köln. Y'all need to check out Zeche Zollverein in northern Essen (reachable by tram). It's an extremely original attraction. Went on a weekend and they had a food truck festival thing going, though I would assume that would probably not be in the cards for you guys. Düsseldorf is lovely, well worth a stroll and a meal in the Altstadt.
You had me at ROLL AND FLIP AND WRITE
I’m surprised Mike didn’t just call it a “Verbs and Write” game.
@@CamObscura88 true. I can see him reading that saying "I will not stand for this"

I just put Mike reviews on loop. The soothing baritone voice always relaxes me.

I can't believe we get TWO Saashi games this year! So awesome!
This reminds me a bit of Noch Mal (Encore) but without the flipping.
Haha! "Not the most complex roll/flip and write I've played by a long shot" as Twilight Inscription is right at eye-level over his shoulder.

I've always wanted a board game version of classic musical Newsies.
Me too but this game looks themeless other than the box cover.
How was the solo play?
Mike! You should totally do a top 10 sashi n sashi games

I dont know why, but Newsboys is really really good. It seems kind of bland but has this special hook when you can cascade fill out area after area.
Newsboys is also a Christian rock band 😂
