I saw it and Bebe is so great. The audience is too as they are all fans of the series. When it starts and you hear the band go..."Da da da dum..." The audience goes "Clap clap" and it's such a feeling of oneness. Great show.
Same here I love The Addams Family I'm still saving up to see this and I love the look on Bebe Neuwirth's face as she places her head on Nathan Lane's shoulder. Man I really want to see this sooooooooooooooo bad
I don't know what show the critics were watching, but this was a truly amazing show. It is one that I could easily have gone back and watched the next day, and the day after. Maybe they take a few weeks to gel, but as of end of May, it was fantastic. My new best show.
I saw this show and it was just fabulous. Hilarious, beautiful songs, great plot. And when the theme song plays, everyone in the audience claps or snaps and it's just amazing.
if they will make a movie version of this musical, THEY MUST have both Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth in it. Otherwise, people will feel cheated again, like when they did the movie version of Chicago when they casted Catherine Zeta Jones instead of Bebe.
I remember in Kindergarten, my teacher had a song for the days of the week that was to the tune of "The Addams Family" that went "Days of the week *snap* *snap*. It pisses me off because when I was in Kindergarten we had no idea what "The Addams Family" was, so now whenever I hear that song, I can't not hear "Days of the week". It pisses me off so much!
The Addams Family was one of my favorite Broadway productions I've seen! I gott to see all the original cast! The please turn off you cell phone thing WAS realy funny, and I might want to see it again.
I remember thinking back in the early days of cheers that she would perfect to play Mortica in a future movie or show. Never thought of it as a stage musical??
Nathan is such a sweetie, haha. The show was GREAT. Despite what critics say, I think this show will have a good, respectable run. There's a lot that cannot be criticized in this show!
@JsAMMyrOX The stage door was crazy when I saw A Little Night Music, but that's because it was when Catherine Zeta Jones was in it. They had the barriers up with police yelling at people to get back, and hundreds of people crowding around. It was the same way for both shows with Daniel Radcliffe, and also when I saw All My Sons, which had Katie Holmes and other famous actors. Too bad Nathan didn't come out. I saw Addams Family the week he was on vacation, which was such a bummer.
Hey Mr Lane are you related to FRANKIE LANE WHO SANG THE BLAZING SADDLES THEME ALSO WHO HAD GREAT HITS BACK IN THE MID 1940S. YOU KINDA REMIND ME AS GODFATHER GANGSTER ROLE LIKE MARLON BRANDO WAS DID YOU KNOW JACK FOREAKER OF CECIL COUNTY MD HE AND SOME GUYS CAME AND SAW YOUR WHEN YOUR AN ADDAMS STAGE .DID YOU PUT ONE ON IN MARYLAND OR DELAWARE BACK IN 2010 AND. 2011? . HEY I SAW THE VIDEO OF YOU IT WAS GREAT.
@AfroJackson78 yea i realized that too.....i love it how actors do that....be on the show for one episode and happen to do it again as a different character on the same show
C'mon, honey. I mean no disrespect to anyone involved, but when it comes to set design - specifically to capture more the ambiance of Charles Addam's cartoons rather than the 1964 TV sereis - all you really need is weathered, deconstructed walls, slatted windows with the occasional break in the slats, a stairway or two, perhaps some sconces....it's not really rocket science. And watching the press junkets, Nathan Lane couldn't look less interested. "The Addams Family" musical has definitely won its place high on the list of "trainwreck Broadway musicals" as evidenced by the complete revamp of the show after having its tryout run in Chicago, but to have the show overhauled once again when it embarked on its first national tour can't possibly be something that's happened with too many other Broadway productions (or has it? Please correct me if I'm overlooking any others that had as much of a rough start. And don't cite Julie Taymor's Spider-Man). In the end, perhaps it's fitting that the show has a dark and bizarre history. Surely Charles Addams would have approved. It's found its place as one of the most popular musicals for school productions and community theatres to produce, but that still doesn't make it right. Ha!
