When filling the tires with foam, specifically the wider tires on the 254, does that affect ride quality? For example, would bumps feel harsher? Thanks.
Very sorry but for pricing you now have to work through your local dealer. Here is a link to locate your local dealer. giantloaders.com/find-a-dealer/ If you are in the Atlanta Georgia area or do not have a local dealer you can reach out to www.chipperllcsales.com/
Being a compact machine weighing only 2600# it is very strong but does have some limitations. On flat ground it is capable of moving even heavy chippers around. At our yard we have even moved 18" chippers weighing 8500# around with out 254 loader but with steep terrain or soft ground it would be limited.
I don't have an Avant 530 here to do a side by side comparison but I can tell you what I know from previously owning an Avant 528. Giant wins hands down. Here is why: Engine same, pulling power same, lift height same, Giant is shorter 89" vs 100" helps it work in smaller areas, Giant has tighter turn radius 36" inside/77" outside vs 39"/80" for Avant, Giant has similar lift capacity with less machine weight. How? Longer wheelbase and better weight placement. The Giant puts operator at rear, this helps for visibility because no rear end swinging back and forth to hit something like Avant and the operator and cab further back act as counterweight. Avant has weight further forward so it doesn't help, could put infinite weight over the front axle and that adds nothing to lift capacity, weight placement to rear axle is key. The wheelbase is a factor also as the rear axle placement is further back on Giant, the more weight you shift to the back the more it increases tip capacity. Giant wins on travel speeds 9.5MPH vs 7.5MPH for Avant, Going back to machine weight. If Giant can lift same weight as Avant but be 700# lighter by maximizing the weight placement then the Giant with 700# of material in bucket has same ground pressure on yard as Avant empty. Giant is all Steel. Avant has many plastic covers to easily break and expensive to replace. My tree service purchased an Avant 528 before Giant. Later we switched to Giant and my Equipment sales company got the opportunity to represent Giant so we switched and have been very happy with Giant. Thanks for the inquiry!
I started with Avant years ago with a 528. I now sell the Giant loaders and have time running them. I was a user before I was a dealer with both machines. Advantages to Giant. Less tail swing, operator sets on rear so you less likely to back into something and you get better visibility, Short machine but longer wheel base and operator sits further back, lets you lift more weight while being lighter machine, all steel construction so no broken plastic parts, Avant has short wheel base on longer machine requires lots of counterweights for good lift capacity. With Avant I had with no load machine would tip back going up hills, skid steers are point and shoot. Wheel loaders require a operator adjustment period to get used to the turn radius to appreciate each machine. I will say I switched from Avant to Giant and have been very happy. Dave is a great guy with a lot of experience. We do business with him all the time. Have a great day!

Can it squeeze through a standard 36" gate?
No, unfortunately it is still 38.5" wide with outer wheels removed.
strange question, could this unit tow a chipper into a backyard?
