Holy shit....as someone with PTSD myself, the representation of memories feeling like waves and almost overtaking your mind, almost replaying right in front of your eyes, I applaud you for your narration
@mystic_scytheI'm one of those people who love dark fiction stories, when I see it in real life I don't really say much, I watch so many videos and movies that I'm used to blood and guts, if I saw someone cut into pieces I probably wouldn't care, the difference is seeing someone being cut into pieces, that would probably give me PTSD.

The plot line reminds me of a higurashi fanfic a kinda want to make where satako survives but has mental damage and now tries to forget everything that happened from that point of time
I remember years ago Losty did a Self-diss track as part of a diss-yourself challenge. In it she mentioned not being able to get through Halloween without Rainbow Factory. I consider this reading a send-up to that line.
As someone with PTSD, this story reflects me so much and the structuring and visuals are so jaw dropping with how accurate and personal it feels. I love the narration and representation this gives. I'm glad to feel seen and heard in media I enjoy listening to!

They did a great job writing this! I was anticipating what happened at the school until it revealed Scootaloo had an episode resulting in her accidentally hitting a kid. Also love the outro!

Lost - your editing and sound design (the flashbacks especially - holy CRAP!!) is superb, as is your narration of course! All of the voice acting was incredible - it's mindboggling to hear these lines brought to life in precisely the way I imagined them. I'm honestly at a loss for words. This is without a doubt one of the coolest things I've gotten to experience in this fandom! I feel so lucky to be amongst such creative, talented, amazing people. The Boss making mention of how it's gotten harder for pegsi to even get off of the ground. Oh my brain is trying to analyze all of it, how exciting!
Rainbow Factory stories are always welcome, especially from you, Lost. The fandom's creativity continuins to churn out novels and horror stories alike will always be impressive to me, and AuroraDawn returning to continue the sage of the Factory means there will be plenty more stories to tell.
I want to know who saved her I wanna say it was the worker from Awoken that was having second thoughts and started questioning Rainbow he saved Scootaloo before the cube closed off and everyone else got trapped himself included . What happened to Dash was she found out and arrested ? Rainbowdash was the only one allowed outside she would react normal if she saw that Scootaloo out of the factory to hide the fact of what she has done over the years .

This was a really amazing modern Rainbow Factory story in the way we return to the Factory after lots of years and see how much it's deteriorated over the years! I just hope the boss wasn't an old Factory Dash because that would mean she either died at the end when Diamond Tiara ripped off a chunk of her flesh, and that she at least just went unconscious... Poor Factory Dash dies in lots of alternate endings of the original Rainbow Factory, and also in stories of Absentia getting revenge... My mind thinks it was her though... I can always recognize that sort of raspy voice..
Something I've been curious about, since you mentioned Dash... Where is she?! If this is during the time of the School of Friendship, this must be LONG after the original. So where IS Dash?

It's fascinating to see how many layers the author included, especially when it comes to the Lord of It. I love how the story doesn't shy away from showing the darker side of the pony world. The Lord of It character feels like a manifest representation of all the societal pressures put on the ponies. What do you guys think about how he embodies the concept of obligation versus personal desires?

This is a great reading! I don't know how to properly put it into words, but the thing I find so interesting about the evil in Rainbow Factory stories is how it comes from a philosophy. They're not killing weak fliers just because they like killing, they're doing it because it's part of their ideaology. Rid the weak and keep the strong. They believe in it so much that they think that what they're doing is right.

Haven't listened in years, opps sorry, but never unsubbed though, ( even though a hollow unwatcher subscriber is worst for a channels algorithm performance) I just stayed subbed because I knew, at some point that I'll get back into listening to pony fan fic stories and lost, your voice is just so saltery and smooth, its so pleasant to listen too.) I have a particular liking to the rainbow factory story, not because it reflects who i am as a person obviously, but I just like true crime podcasts, documentaries, ghost shows, horror movies ect, and of course I'm a brony, through and through for life! I also have this pesky thing called adhd, so yeah... but just been I stop listening for long periods, "cough cough, years" doesn't lessen or mean my love for the art form is gone!
Ive not been told by a doctor that I have ptsd, and dont like to call it that cuz dont have official confirmation thats what it is, But ive had episodes exactly like that before, tho they are more rare than a standard anxiety attack. Where only way to describe was pts. So as someone whos had both anxiety based panic attacks and I wanna say pts attacks, am speechless how real that felt. How accurate.
I remember reading RF back in highschool like 2013. But im so glad i came back to RF in 2024 to see someone put in so much great effort into reading the stories i fell in love with.

I know I might be late, but I just wanted to say I listened to this recently and I really loved it. The voice actors did a really amazing job and then visuals went along with it were just great. Wish I had more to say, but that's it.
Very good! No wonder this one won! The descriptions of everything are great, and the hints at what's going on behind the scenes in society is interesting too. Adult blank flanks on the rise or something? Probably a lot of talk over whether to consider it a disability or not. Maybe it's akin to autism where it's just some ponies are just wired differently or don't have a specialization for their magic? Or perhaps the talk is "we shouldn't be putting so much pressure on people to find their talents, we should let it come naturally, all this pressure just leads to bullying and othering" The implication that jail isn't a reformatory system but just jail still... Cmon twilight, hit us with that prison reform! Eugh the implication of that splat on the ground being a sort of test run, or that they've gotten away with secretly running the factory again for a while now little by little... I found the thing with Scootaloo's hooves sinking lower into the clouds due to her not having as much pegasi magic to be a bit extra interesting because I think the idea there is that her disability isn't just physical, but magical too. It's not that she necessarily has less magic than other ponies overall, but rather that for some reason her pegasi magic is lower in her body than for others. The buck wild implication that magic is lessening overall. More blank flanks, less easy flight, Scootaloo sinking maybe... Somehow because magic is being stretched thin? Could it be because more types of creatures are learning magic, thus putting more of a strain on magic as a whole? Or maybe there's an overpopulation issue? Or maybe it's a natural thing that happens in cycles - magic lessening/dying out then returning? Or maybe something sinister is at work to lessen the magic... Or it could be due to people being just plain ableist lol
I think it depends on what version you read because others made non cannon versions of it. One has scootaloo coming back to life and she ends up taking the whole rainbow factory down with her. I'm not sure if awoken was written by the same author or not but it takes place after that.

This is a great reading! I don't know how to properly put it into words, but the thing I find so interesting about the evil in Rainbow Factory stories is how it comes from a philosophy. They're not killing weak fliers just because they like killing, they're doing it because it's part of their ideaology. Rid the weak and keep the strong. They believe in it so much that they think that what they're doing is right.

Very good! No wonder this one won! The descriptions of everything are great, and the hints at what's going on behind the scenes in society is interesting too.
Adult blank flanks on the rise or something? Probably a lot of talk over whether to consider it a disability or not. Maybe it's akin to autism where it's just some ponies are just wired differently or don't have a specialization for their magic? Or perhaps the talk is "we shouldn't be putting so much pressure on people to find their talents, we should let it come naturally, all this pressure just leads to bullying and othering"
The implication that jail isn't a reformatory system but just jail still... Cmon twilight, hit us with that prison reform!
Eugh the implication of that splat on the ground being a sort of test run, or that they've gotten away with secretly running the factory again for a while now little by little...
I found the thing with Scootaloo's hooves sinking lower into the clouds due to her not having as much pegasi magic to be a bit extra interesting because I think the idea there is that her disability isn't just physical, but magical too. It's not that she necessarily has less magic than other ponies overall, but rather that for some reason her pegasi magic is lower in her body than for others.
The buck wild implication that magic is lessening overall. More blank flanks, less easy flight, Scootaloo sinking maybe... Somehow because magic is being stretched thin? Could it be because more types of creatures are learning magic, thus putting more of a strain on magic as a whole? Or maybe there's an overpopulation issue? Or maybe it's a natural thing that happens in cycles - magic lessening/dying out then returning? Or maybe something sinister is at work to lessen the magic...
Or it could be due to people being just plain ableist lol
Well I'm intrigued but also confused I'm pretty sure scootaloo died at the end of the rainbow factory or at least was heavily implied to
I think it depends on what version you read because others made non cannon versions of it. One has scootaloo coming back to life and she ends up taking the whole rainbow factory down with her. I'm not sure if awoken was written by the same author or not but it takes place after that.
