Charizard Gold Star is one of the greatest Charizard arts ever, especially being dark type. Opened so many Dragon Frontiers packs back in the day with no pull luck but did manage to get later in life!
That kid who opened packs back in 2005 is me! I’ve 2 gold stars that I found in my collection, that I’ve not yet graded. They won’t be PSA 10, but Randy is right that the audience in their early 20s are gonna start sending them off as well for grading

It’s about time the Gold Stars get the spotlight. Coming up on the 15th anniversary for some of them.
Hopefully the 25th anniversary set brings them back like they did with evolutions for the 20th anniversary.
The rayquaza gold star sold for $45k yesterday in auction!!
And it should get more expensive. People don`t know it, but back around the gold star era it was actually a bit more expensive than the charizard first edition, and i bet its more rare as well.

Shining cards do have a silver hue but you can clearly see their shiny colours still. Mewtwo was white/green with silver hue over it. They are the OG shiny cards.

I remember a few years ago I was gonna start collecting them whenever they were affordable but then I lost my job and I never picked them up
I know i wanted the charizard gold star but couldn't pull it.
I went ahead and bought the card for 20$ at the time, i never spend that much on a card and was seriously doubting but i bought it.

Pop series pack gold star pull rate is 1:40. I opened hundreds on my channel so the data is there to verify
Gyarados and Mudkip were the last gold stars to get PSA 10. The rest of the gold stars were pop 5-20 by the time they got their first PSA 10.

I was the seller they mentioned in the video. That set in 2017 and I total got around $50-60k for both the ex and gold star set.
Most of us then thought the cards had peaked in value. Prior to 2020 Rayquaza gold star PSA 10 was $8k. It nearly tripled in value in the last 3 years. Covid changed everything with regards to the hobby.
I can verify Hisoka’s comment. I opened 40 pop 5 packs myself and pull 2, so I was lucky in that regard.
OH SHIT! I gotta ask, do you have any regret selling it back then? I know Radar mentioned it was for your dream car, which is a goal, but like looking back, how do you feel?
@@rhymestyle It's all good man I don't mind sharing. One of these days I'll go into the full story on Radar's Podcast, but the short answer is No. By the time I completed the the whole ex series in PSA 10, I was at a very tough spot in my life and selling the cards for the car was the thing I needed to move on from my life and work on my mental & physical health. The cards helped me through a rough spot in life, but they also came to feel like an anchor holding me back. Love your opening and energy.

All goldstars psa 10 sold at auction for the first time on pwcc just the other day 12/12/2020 and combined price on all 27 psa 10 goldstar cards came to 234,000 dollars for all cards not including shipping or import duty that could apply to certain countries or regions.

Too be fair Ciaran I have been trying to collect all of these goldstars psa 10 since 2015, and I have been slowly acquiring them since. But now prices are way too much now for me too afford getting the last 10 goldstar I need.I grew up with the ex era of pokemon (2004-2007) and am was trying to buy back some memories.

I am missing the Rayquaza,latias and latios from Ex deoxys,also the mew and charizard from ex dragon frontiers.Then the three hoenn starters mudkip,torchic and mudkip from ex team rocket returns, and the espeon from pop series 5 and Gyarados from Holon phantoms. So basically missing alot of the heavy hitters as I bought the cheaper ones first to get a start on them. I also have the other 3 goldstars not shown in this video which are jolteon,mew and latias from the world championship decks from 2006-2008. So in total I have 20 of the 30 goldstar cards but think I will be able to get any more unless I were trade or cards or sealed I have for them.

I'm not sure if anyone's going to read this but just remember what Rhyme said, It's never too late to start collecting. Also as a side note for anyone who's already been collecting, never give up, pace yourself. Don't overextend yourself. You'll look back in a few years in amazement of what you've accomplished. Slow and steady wins the race 👌

I think some of the rarest cards that are slept on are the japanese lottery promos. You couldn't buy them in stores, sets, thene decks, you literally had to win out of millions of people. Than to have those cards in a 10! Sheesh... talk about low pop!
