Gary I watched your video. As I watched it I thought thank Christ there no filler with all the aerial shots and photographs from above that I will never ever be able to take. I know roundspace adverts to fast forward through. The reason I like your videos and the reason I like this one is because it felt I was stood right next to you. You were explaining to me what you were seeing. Then the proof of what you were seeing and your enthusiasm came out in the photographs. Your talk about the tripod has convince me to use one next week when I go on holiday to Cornwall. I very rarely use a tripod but I know the advantages but I'm too lazy to carry it. I have an Olympus om1 like Dave and you feel you don't need it but I will use one in Cornwall next week to slow me down. I love these sort of videos from the guys on the pubcast
Thanks very much Martin, honestly I didn't realise quite how much I rely on my tripod until I was without it. Of course it's not essential but for me it vasty improves my photography, especially in woodland 🙂
Ah mate, some seriously beautiful images in here! I love the one at 12:40, and the images from Sunday were stunning as well. Really enjoyed this. Don’t let the trolls detract from what was a special couple of mornings. Perhaps next time though you could let us know your top 5 tips for photographing the understory? 😉 S
I take it you've seen that we are getting some flak for dismissing 'understory' when it turns out to be a totally valid botanical term? I shall be dropping it in from now on!! Oh and I'm so over the trolls now 🙂
Lovely atmospheric images Gary. Well worth getting out there. A tripod is like a painters easel - it is a platform from which to take control of what is on your canvas, and that is no truer for a photographer than it is for a painter. Keep well sir
Gary, there's no need to justify your youtube content, nobody can produce vlogs to satisfy everyone, your very good at putting together vlogs that i think are very entertaining, the work you put into the pubcast is superglue that holds the vlog together..👍🏴
Great video, Gary! Peterborough Utd - great football club, great support, great pedigree - the bane of many clubs in the so-called "higher" leagues. You've whipped our arse many times - from a Boro (Middlesbrough) fan. :-) I've been to your ground many times supporting the Boro and, latterly, MK Dons!

Looks like you had a great day, and you got a bag or card full of some lovely pictures, those conditions were just wonderful, well done.....and thank you for showing your pictures to us!
I've always been a city shooter, who likes to move around a great deal, so a tripod would've been a major hindrance. But now I'm starting to photograph nature a bit more and you make a good argument for using a tripod. It does allow one to assess a 'complex' composition more thoroughly and make changes when it seems appropriate. Good video!
I totally agree with you, when shooting street I love the freedom of being tripod free, but in woodlands, certainly, I think that a tripod is essential 🙂
Hi Gary: I really enjoyed this video and the images that you have capture. I also like your hat as I was born in Peterborough, Ontario Canada.😆 😆. Cheers, Keith (Canada)
Definitely not bored brother 🤙 I think the calm calculated nature of this video was perfect. Matched the peaceful calm woodland. There was a few there that I really liked

Good to meet you on Sunday Gary. Really enjoyed the video and very much agree about the tripod and slowing down, I still often find myself rushing too much though. You got some lovely images here, particularly like the one at 5:26 and the first one from Sunday.
That was a great video, I watched it on my big telly. Makes such a difference. That image at the end is definitely my favourite. It’s beautiful and elegant.
Great conditions and really back with a bang fella. I would be happy with any one of these images in my collection fella, you have bagged up in a few days. Some really, awe...., great images there mate. Liked them all, Sundays were lovely. I couldn't be without a tripod now especially in the woodland. Really enjoyed that , certainly looks a stunning location!
Hi Gary, for a bit of "moany old bloke" you make a pretty decent photographer mate. Genuinely good work and thanks for sharing your talent. Dave's got the right comment too, definitely not bored!
Quality video as always Gary, I love the concept of taking photographs close to where you live. Have to say I’m also addicted to the pubcast, I think ur absolutely hilarious. In the words of mr G, don’t listen to ‘bell end’s’ that have nothing constructive to say. Being nice costs you bugger all, glad ur out and about again!
Nice to see you back Gary , like your calm no nonsense style, i enjoyed your A ,Z street photography , maybe you'll get back in to it . Some nice pictures in today's vlog . Noticed a negative comment,, Dont take the bait , the only way to deal with toxic people is don't play the game . Be yourself , an original will always be more valuable than a copy .😊
Great stuff, Gary 👏🏻👏🏻A lovely set of images for both days. I especially enjoyed those two of the lady and her dog. Best of both worlds in the woodlands. In terms of tripod, I love my stabilization and I may be part of the younger crowd, but I always bring my Benro Mach 3 out if I can just to have the ability to slow down and capture the shot.
I admit that I do love the frredom of being tripod free for the likes of street photography and often wildlife, but I think it's essential (well certainly for me) in genres like woodland. Thanks for watching 🙂
Lovely shots. Can't say we get much mist round here, which is a pity as there's woods a plenty. Managed to catch some in midwinter with raking sunlight through the birches, so its better than none. Tripods, tended to carry one and not use it, so I'm trying my best to stand still instead. Will still take a heavy one if I know I'll be in a fast flowing river. Glad to see you back out and enjoying it.
A scrappy woodland and you managed to pull it off with a good set of images, no easy task.
