"Child in Time" is a song by the English rock band Deep Purple. Loosely inspired by the Cold War, it is featured on the band's 1970 album Deep Purple in Rock and runs for over 10 minutes.
Ian Gillan has said that "Child in Time" is based on It's a Beautiful Day's psychedelic song "Bombay Calling". It's a Beautiful Day in return borrowed Purple's "Wring That Neck" and turned it into "Don and Dewey" on their second album Marrying Maiden (1970). As Ian Gillan put it in a 2002 interview, "There are two sides to that song - the musical side and the lyrical side. On the musical side, there used to be this song 'Bombay Calling' by a band called It's A Beautiful Day.
🙋🏼 ABOUT ME: My name is Alyona Yarushina, or Aly. I was born in Russia, and I am a singer, a musician,
I play the piano and do many arrangements myself, I’m in love with 80s and 90s rock. In Russia, I played with several bands. One of them is the best Led Zeppelin tribute band in Russia called "Plumbum Dreams". The other one is called "Back from the USSR", where we played Beatles songs in my own arrangements. We played in Liverpool, England almost every year on the Beatles week fest. My dad, Valeriy Yarushin is my bass player in this band. He's a legend of Russian folk-rock and his band “Ariel” was most popular in the 70s and still is now. I learned a lot from him.
In 2004, I won the “International Hopes of Europe” competition in Sochi, Russia along with the “Grand Prix” prize for singing I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston.
During my career, I had the opportunity to perform with great artists such as Chick Corea, Chris Slade (AC/DC drummer), Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper guitarist), Innes Sibun (Robert Plant's guitarist), David Campbell (musical producer and arranger of Muse and Adele), Brian Tichy (drummer for Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Foreigner, Ozzy Osborne), Hal Bruce and others.
I like a lot of different song styles like rock, pop and jazz. I love classic rock.Bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Boston, Oasis, Jeff Buckley, Vixen, Janis Joplin, Aerosmith, Guns'n'Roses, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Winger, Skid Row, Sandy Saraya and others.
For some of my covers I do full MIDI instrumentals by myself using an M-Audio Oxygen MIDI keyboard. I also do all the back vocals & mixing and mastering by myself using Logic Pro.

Shows how much talent it takes to sing this. This song and Pink Floyd's Great Gig in the Sky I think are the 2 most difficult to sing.
And we all have to remember men, gillan did this day in and day out back in those days late 69 into the 70s.

kmoecub no it didn’t it was the year touring with Black Sabbath after they released the born again album is when he blew out his voice. He was still able to hit those high notes up until that point. after that tour, then you saw the change after perfect strangers.

I guess I'm the only American here but I'm still thinking this Beautiful Lady here is doing a great job of singing this Iconic song by one of the Worlds Greatest Rock Bands Of All Time! But with that I would like to express my opinion of this song being one of the best songs ever written and by the perfect band to do it at the time. With that said if you are any kind of singer at all with the ability to put all of yourself into a great song when it's there for you to do. Then this is one of those songs and if you have that natural ability as Ian did and can bring it and show it then you will no doubt do it as good as she is showing us right now! With this song any good musician that knows what they are doing will make themselves into a "Highway Star" Oh that's right that's another hit of theirs. To all of our Children In Time may your lives be filled with peace and good things and times.

Alyona, "WOW", this is "The Best" female cover of one of rocks greatest vocalists "Ian Gillian" that I have ever heard, and I have never heard any male rock vocalist cover this tune and do it justice . You were " TRES GR8T" ! ! !
Ian Gillian sang with softness, strength and passion on the laid back vocals. He was a percussive vocalists, and he knew just where the greatest imphasis was to be placed with greatest of feeling and emotions, even when he was leading into his screamer falsetia mode, hittin' the high notes ! ! ! Letting the mic do the work is key to vocal greatness and longevity, as well as having perfect pitch, and a bit of gravel and glass in just the right places, more vocal technique and emphasis , versatility, and I am a Guitarists firsthand but I know "Gifted" when I hear it, though even such as that must be kept after and properly maintained. I do not believe in perfection, though it is something we certainly strive to get close to being ! ! !
