thanks Dave. It was also the first album i bought (in 1980's smg like that) and one of my top 5 favorite ! question : are you sure it's a G 6/9 and not a Asus4/G ? i play a Asus4/G on piano and it sounds great !
You can call the chord whatever you like. I am playing G E A D which you could call Asus4 (ADE) over G however for me the song feels like a 4 to a 5. So therefor I would refer to the first chord as the G. Now looking at the notes again G E A D we see the Root G, the 6 E the A 9 and the D 5. Now in the video I mention in this chord the G is usually on the top so its usually EADG which is a G6/9 in a stacked 4. Regardless of how you feel comfortable calling it. Its the same chord. For me I see it the chord as a stacked 4.
I've loved this song forever (yes, I'm that old). Love your teaching style! Watched this video and having a blast recording (Takamine) and over-laying a little lead (Strat). I will not sleep tonight... "thank you Dave" (Dave say goodbye to your buddies and your pals...)
Fun song, fun album - and you are absolutely correct, sir; not a bad track on it! So cool, she was named The Duchess of Cool for this album. Best session musicians and arrangement/producers available.
Thank you Dave.... Been looking for this lesson for a LONG time! You 'da man!
Another great lesson Dave
I love this channel. Top quality chat, playing, or lessons every dang day. I call it my “vegetable patch”.
Why?
Coz I dig it.
