However, I managed to get through Either Way without shedding tears, but only just. They did such a good job with that video.
What’s so funny is without even knowing about IVE’s upcoming release, I started obsessing over the original Icona Pop “All Night” through winter 2023-2024-honestly, that made the IVE version even more underwhelming bc the original just has so much more energy? I’m a fan of IVE but I think their approach to that song was pretty bad 💔
First of all, anyone who hasn't, should check out the Baddie analysis, I can't stress enough, how amazing that video is, like I'm not saying I didn't enjoy your videos before, but since that video, I'm sat every Friday and anticipating a banger and I've never been disappointed 🥰. Second, neurodivergent baddies rise! I very much support that, as I'm pretty sure I am one myself. Now to Ive, they're such a hard group to rank for me, cause their music is soooo good. So I wanna give my own thoughts. It might just be me being crazy, but the pose Wonyoung did, with her back faces us is so incredibly iconic I just do it randomly to channel the bad bitch in me. It's an amazing catchy song I've got in my head the whole Winter break. I remember Love Dive as if it was yesterday, it's amazing, iconic and I love the heart arrows almost too much. But Dear Cupid not being a real Ive song is my 12 reason 🙃. After Like was great, for me it also falls a bit flat due to the disco sound, but I also love it. Gaeul's killing part changed lives! Kitsch is one of my favourite singles of 2023 and I was a huge defender from the beginning, that is a bop S for me, I don't care. I Am was too iconic even for haters. Wonyoung jumping off a plane is more influential than anything 2024 can offer I'm afraid. love this song and them just flexing their live vocals on music shows like it's nothing, I missed my girl Rei in the promotions 🥺. Wave is so cunty and catchy, it's unreal, but it falls a bit flat with the MV. I Want is an S tier for me and I won't shut up about it. My playlist for last summer (and I need to bring it back honestly) was I Want by Ive, Rollercoaster by NMIXX, New Kidz On the Block by ZB1, Shhh by Kiss Of Life and Bad Blood for Queendom Puzzle (the best survival show song ever created and for what? ) I also don't listen and watch Either Way, cause I'd cry, but I also cry at Off the Record bridge, but I listen to that a lot more and for me it's a great piece of art and is A+ in my book. Baddie was a legend, an icon and the moment and your analysis video also made it an A+ in my book. 🎶We don't talk about All Night, no, no, no!🎶 Ive Switch as a concept and a musical masterpiece should be Grammy nominated, cause they really raised the bar for MVs for sure. Heya is one of my favourite title tracks at least this year, clear S tier and Accendio MV S+, but the song is more of an A for me, still amazing though. Loved your video, and I'm already excited for the next one! I'm really anticipating you making a girl group 🙏. I wish you'd have a great time camping and I really appreciate your great additions to the Ktube community 🫡.
Love all of this! Thank you so much for your kind words. It really means so much to me to have already developed a community of my own and I cherish that support more than I can say. 🥰 I think that Baddie video really might be one of the best I've done so far and I appreciate you stumping for it.
2023 was a really insane year for ive imo. Before Kitsch i didnt really like ives songs, but they kept releasing bangers from there on, especially multiple B-sides from the full album like blue blood, hypnosis and shine with me. And WAVE is their best song in my opinion, this song hits so hard, even after listening to it 1000 times its still insane (i also liked their concepts and styling in the mv + i have the imagery of sirenes in the "heavenly vocal" part). My Top 10 (with B-sides): 1. WAVE 2. Blue Blood 3. Shine with me 4. Hypnosis 5. Baddie 6. Kitsch 7. Off the record 8. Ice Queen 9. I am 10. Payback
Yeah, I didn't include it due to the lack of a MV and being on an OST. It didn't feel fair to treat it the same as the other title tracks. It's a great song though!
I’m sorry but what you said about Chinese citizens is absolutely disgusting and disrespectful. You can not agree with their opinions but you just twisted history to bash on them. China never invaded them in recent history, or at least not in a big manner. In recent years, only Japan invaded Korea (and China) and did atrocities towards the citizens. Please do some research before commenting on anything. It’s even in your bio, don’t be toxic. I hope you will address the issue in a mature way and not calling me hater. I’m just so tired of the hate Chinese netizens get because their culture isn’t CREDITED.
I did some research (not too much so correct me if I’m wrong). Apart from the 1950 Korea War (because if you count that as “invading”, you could say the same about the US), last time Korea “belonged” to China, or should I say the Mongol Empire, was in 1638. After that, it was the Japanese.
Thank you for sharing your perspective, although I definitely don't appreciate the implication that I don't do research prior to making statements. As a counterpoint, Koreans had to develop their own Hangul alphabet in order to stop using the Chinese characters forced on them in centuries prior, so I don't think it's unreasonable to assert that the Chinese forced their culture on the Korean territories they repeatedly conquered. (Korea has never invaded China at any point, for the record.) Imperialism is fucked, regardless of who is perpetrating it or when it happened historically, whether it was by China, Japan, England, America, or any other imperialist nation. To claim that it doesn't have lasting impacts on the previously invaded countries isn't accurate, though. The Joseon dynasty that the Qing dynasty crushed in the 1600s was a golden era culturally for Korea. The Qing dynasty was brief but tremendously dramatic in terms of how it reshaped the cultural landscape of East Asia. Its impacts are still felt today, both in China and abroad.
Upon additional reflection, while I still stand by what I said in terms of my perspective on the matter, that commentary was a bit toxic on my part. I'll try to do better at taking my own advice in the future. Also, always feel free to call me out on my bullshit. I am genuinely interested in doing better as a person where possible and will try to keep my perspectives on geopolitics more to myself in the future.
@@overthinkingkpop Hi thank you for responding in such a mature way. I was a bit mad so I may have exaggerated in my claims. Although, I don’t think Koreans developed Hangul to get rid of Chinese but rather created it because Chinese was too difficult for the general population. That’s why Hanja (chinese characters) only stopped being taught in the 1970 in Korean schools. Anyways, I really appreciate you responding you in a mature way. We don’t really see that anymore.
I know it's been a while since this video was released but your videos helped me distract and bought some joy into my life Specifically this one, I remember watching it at night at the hospital after my father's heart surgery I just want to say thank you so much for making content lol As a dive I agree with you when it comes to after like but it lowkey feels offensive to say out loud
You can appreciate member contributions if they have members whose voices actually compliment each other and are distinct and the know how to use them together. Snsd were the blue print for this. You could tell whos leading a chorus and they often shared lines something kpop idols only really do in Japanese title tracks now
For me: after like is ok, either way is ok, kitch is ok, baddie is ok. I would move all night to the D list, wave is ok since I never listen to it. Off the record is always listen. Hey yeah would be move to always listen. Interesting how we have such different opinions.
I really enjoyed this video but please learn more about history before talking about it senselessly. To be blunt, by every definition, if you single out a race of people without any proof and write off the disrespect they feel because of ASSUMPTIONS you have about said race, that my friend is textbook racism. You know hardly enough about China and ignorance is not a crime but it's important to educate yourself before making snide comments, isn't that right? Anti-Chinese rhetoric is extremely common these days and its not a factually incorrect statement that so many Chinese things are getting rebranded as Japanese or Korean because Chinese things are supposedly "bad" while those are countries are supposedly "good". I don't know much about the discussion relating to heya and will not comment on it. However, China did not invade Korea. Nor does it "disrespect" borders(Taiwan being the only case you can bring up really but I doubt you would know all the nuances of the Taiwan case). I will find this very ironic if you happen to be a American saying this, whose country has done far more damage and destruction to Korea than any other country aside from Japan. We can have a friendly discussion about this. As a history nerd, I rather violently cringed when I heard that part of the video.
Well said. If China had “invaded” Korea so many times, mandarin would’ve been way more dominant just like how English is an official language in Hong Kong and Portuguese is an official language in Macau.
Um, also, the Chinese invaded Korea literally more than a dozen times over the course of history but okay. It's just blatantly incorrect to claim that China never invaded Korea. Also, where on earth did I defend American imperialism? I may live here, but I didn't choose that and I disagree with nearly every element of our foreign policy.
I don't mean to offend anybody who likes All Night but that's the only IVE song that's not in my playlist since it doesn't stick to me...they didn't really shine in that song. There's nothing that special about that song. So imo, I totally agree with her about all night. And now line distribution for Kitsch...they did my gal Liz dirty. SHE'S THE FREAKING MAIN VOCALIST! WDYM SHE ONLY GOT ABOUT 5 AND A HALF SECONDS??!! Okay..i'm calm now. For me, my satisfaction, royal, cherish, hypnosis are my favorite b-sides. :D

Ah, see, the burns are where I feel absolutely the most "me" since they're all about embracing radical self-expression. It's almost better not to have service so that you don't get sucked into social media when you could be having fascinating and delightful discussions and experiences in real life. They're the highlight of my life, truly.
@@overthinkingkpop that sounds lovely but for medical reasons I really do need some sort of service, I do my best to do non plugged weeks and trips but it’s jut not physically capable of doing it. One day maybe but as it stands probably not currently
@@CatNagTaylorsVersion Yeahhhh, unfortunately, the burns are not exactly known for their fantastic accessibility. "Radical inclusion" is definitely part of the mission statement in theory, but there is simply no way someone in anything but the beefiest of off-road wheelchairs would have been able to physically get around the event venue where this was held, let alone contend with any other serious requirements pertaining to medications or routines. They're a brutal endurance battle for even the most able and neurotypical of us all. I did run into a friend at this particular event who is still recovering from ankle surgery who gave me a ride in the golf cart he'd been using to get from place to place. Those are obviously not nearly as maneuverable or transferrable as an actual wheelchair, though, so they're really only a bandaid. Fwiw, though, people do bring tons of generators to these sorts of events, so acquiring an outlet from a theme camp for a few minutes-- particularly if it was for a task like charging a chair-- would almost assuredly not be an issue, especially if you were so kind as to bring extra gas for their generators to thank them for their service. Burners are the best about coming through for each other like that.

I love tier list videos! I mean, now I won't be able to unhear that "r*pe" misheard lyric in I WANT, but overall great video 😂 As for future tier list videos, I'd love to see you do one for Purple Kiss as they have quite the extensive discography. Zombie is basically their perfect kpop song like LOVE DIVE from IVE. And PK also have a bunch of other underrated tracks like Sweet Juice, Love is Dead, Nerdy, and agit.
Purple Kiss is a great suggestion for a future ranking! I, too, enjoy them a great deal and consider them vastly underrated. I already have a different script written but waiting to be produced that contrasts Goeun's and Swan's vocal technique, so they'll definitely get some airtime on this channel one of these days! I will say, having now done a numerical discography ranking and a Tier List, I think I prefer this format, so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it as well! Thanks for sharing your perspective. With regards to IVE's Polish concert date, it's difficult for me to relate because that isn't even remotely a cultural norm in America, so I'm sympathetic to how that might have happened because I would probably have made the same mistake. 😅 One of my favorite festivals back in Florida, Sunset Music Festival, is specifically held over Memorial Day weekend every year, which is theoretically supposed to be a "day of mourning," too. Even 9/11 is fair game these days. The only holiday that is off-limits for unrelated events is Christmas, really.

My playlist for last summer (and I need to bring it back honestly) was I Want by Ive, Rollercoaster by NMIXX, New Kidz On the Block by ZB1, Shhh by Kiss Of Life and Bad Blood for Queendom Puzzle (the best survival show song ever created and for what? )
I also don't listen and watch Either Way, cause I'd cry, but I also cry at Off the Record bridge, but I listen to that a lot more and for me it's a great piece of art and is A+ in my book.
Baddie was a legend, an icon and the moment and your analysis video also made it an A+ in my book.
🎶We don't talk about All Night, no, no, no!🎶
Ive Switch as a concept and a musical masterpiece should be Grammy nominated, cause they really raised the bar for MVs for sure.
My Top 10 (with B-sides):
1. WAVE
2. Blue Blood
3. Shine with me
4. Hypnosis
5. Baddie
6. Kitsch
7. Off the record
8. Ice Queen
9. I am
10. Payback
HYPNOSIS IS THE BEST FINALLY SOME APPRECIATION
Liking baddie over off the récord defines your musical taste , and there is nothing bad about it
they made ‘either way’ for the arts not the charts⭐️but i love it sooo much and mv is ethereal🥹
great vid !!!!!!!!! ive also had a jp release called " will "
Yeah, I didn't include it due to the lack of a MV and being on an OST. It didn't feel fair to treat it the same as the other title tracks. It's a great song though!
When I heard Off the Record for the first time and Yujin’s voice in it I feel in love
YES THANK YOU
Thank you for sharing your perspective, although I definitely don't appreciate the implication that I don't do research prior to making statements.
As a counterpoint, Koreans had to develop their own Hangul alphabet in order to stop using the Chinese characters forced on them in centuries prior, so I don't think it's unreasonable to assert that the Chinese forced their culture on the Korean territories they repeatedly conquered. (Korea has never invaded China at any point, for the record.)
Imperialism is fucked, regardless of who is perpetrating it or when it happened historically, whether it was by China, Japan, England, America, or any other imperialist nation.
I could never rank All Night last BUT I know that's just because of Gaeul's last center chorus on the performance video. Like, I know I'm biased 😭
literally agree with everything even our fav bside this is crazy
Clearly you are an individual of discerning taste! 😘 Thanks for watching!
I know it's been a while since this video was released but your videos helped me distract and bought some joy into my life
Specifically this one, I remember watching it at night at the hospital after my father's heart surgery
I just want to say thank you so much for making content lol
As a dive I agree with you when it comes to after like but it lowkey feels offensive to say out loud
Aww, thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad I could provide a distraction for you during that difficult time. Thanks for tuning in. 💖
i like to pretend that all night doesnt exist :)
Mine and Shine With Me are the b sides I listen to more than their title tracks. Something about it that makes it so easy to listen on repeat.
DIVEUUUU
You can appreciate member contributions if they have members whose voices actually compliment each other and are distinct and the know how to use them together. Snsd were the blue print for this. You could tell whos leading a chorus and they often shared lines something kpop idols only really do in Japanese title tracks now
That's a solid point. MAMAMOO and NMIXX also excel in this capacity due to their unique vocal colors and masterful harmonization.
as soon as you said hypnosis i instantly started fangirling,, it holds a deep and special place in my heart
my favourite b side is either OTT or lips ehe
Imho Off The Record is pretty underrated. It has Cupid kinda vibe, with fresh, romantic, and innocent incorporated at the same time.
Actually, the Chinese alphabet was in use in Korea for years until they developed Hangul specifically to get rid of it.
But on all night right when it dropped I put it on and after 2 seconds I turned it off😭 I still don’t know how the full song sounds to this day
Eh it's pretty much the same hahaha
Ive has so many amazing titles that I could never rank them haha 💙💙💙
all night is actually really good for being the last song of the concert
I heard it as "it's okay to reap it"
@@rosysighting Lol as if they're being given authorization to harvest grain
I like all of them lol, even the other songs that don't have videos (exclude the album picture videos)
That rap part in after like is one of my favorite rap parts in kpop😭😭😭 (sorryyy)
The editinggggg
I think it came out all right for having been slapped together while I was on vacation with the worst internet imaginable 😅
12:58 "they didn't even bother with the choreography" ...no, All Night Ive ver dance performance video does exists
Not in the MV = not relevant
Hope you have a good time on your vacation, I know you can’t see the comments right now so hope this comment still reaches its intent before the end of your vacation
I had absolutely zero service all weekend, but I'm back home now, and thank you! It was exactly what I needed. 🥰
@@overthinkingkpop I’m glad it went well, also couldn’t be me with 0 cell service, I need to know when to do certain things
GIRL YOU DID NOT CALLED OFF THE RECORD FORGETTABLE
I said what I said. It's not bad, but it's not great and I've never once had it stuck in my head.
@@overthinkingkpop it hurt like You called love dive mid
@@REI.12-r5f Hey, we don't all have to agree here. Me having different taste in music isn't a personal attack on you. I will never please everyone so I'd rather just stick to being honest.
“Did any of these answers surprise you” the only correct answer was not doing the bsides or the Japanese comeback Queen of hearts
I wish I had the time, but it was such a struggle even to get this episode pulled together in time. 😭
11:25 uhhhhh I couldn’t tell them apart in Eleven either tbh. I only could after Gaeul cut her hair
i know that all has different taste but after like is my top 2 song in ive discography. i never skip any of their song(except all night)
So surely you can understand why I felt like I had to whisper my disagreement 😂
@@overthinkingkpop yes right
6:53 look closely at rei’s arms
they’re double jointed
Rei is hypermobile! It delights me because I have this condition as well, including the hyperextensive elbows.
@@overthinkingkpop I thought she was just double jointed 😭 good to know tho :))
"Double-jointed" is actually a layman's term for the clinical diagnosis of hypermobility. 👌🏻 We are both correct!
@@overthinkingkpop oh wow, tysm for informing me ❤️
I HATE Disco. But After Like is just toooo catchy
my personal ranking would probably be:
1. Love Dive
2. Accendio
3. Wave
4. Heya
5. Either Way
6. Off The Record
7. I Am
8. Eleven
9. Kitsch
10. After Like
11. I Want
12. All Night
note that there are massive gaps between 10 and 11 as well as 11 and 12
섬찟 my fav song followed by Accendio. I agree with all except Either way and After Like, I don't get emotional abt stuff, I should prolly learn that and I like After like because it's like fast paced sort of. I like those types of songs, like ETA by NJ.
oof that off the record opinion will have hardcore off the record stans upset
Only in Kpop can you say that a song is "basically okay" and have it still manage to upset people.
pls don’t jump me but I really do not think that HEYA should be on the S tier list. I think it should be on the A tier instead. I mean I have nothing to say about the MV itself like it’s a banger. But like the song…I honestly think that’s the bridge could have been better and like I needed to listen top it for sometime before it could stick to me…😂
Pls do red velvet for next
I'd rather you rated Either Way as a song rather than your aversion to it based on personal feelings.
It's literally ALL my personal feelings. 🙃
I love tier list videos! I mean, now I won't be able to unhear that "r*pe" misheard lyric in I WANT, but overall great video 😂
As for future tier list videos, I'd love to see you do one for Purple Kiss as they have quite the extensive discography. Zombie is basically their perfect kpop song like LOVE DIVE from IVE. And PK also have a bunch of other underrated tracks like Sweet Juice, Love is Dead, Nerdy, and agit.
I've also been dying for Purple Kiss to blow up and go viral, but they just haven't unfortunately.
I have most of an episode ranking LE SSERAFIM's comebacks written already, so they'll probably be next up to the plate, but who knows.
Oh wow, looking forward to it then! That Goeun/Swan video sounds interesting!
why does the video affect the ranking…? is it not based on the music??
Because it's my channel and that's how I wanted to do my episode...? I talked about the video for every single other entry and wanted to keep it apples-to-apples.
Your depiction of the hate from Chinese netizens for HEYA was so accurate 🤭.
Finally someone hates 'Either Way'
THEY ARE CHOCKING
It's NOT that I hate the song... it's that I hate how the song makes me feel.

I could say the same to you
your opinion on the HEYA stealing Chinese culture is INSANE lmaoooooo. it's frigging true the Chinese netizen needs to stfu atp. we love u girl ❤❤❤
It was a little edgy, but, like, China is the intellectual property theft capital of the world. It's kind of rich for them to be so up in arms that a group took inspiration from one of their fables.
girl you need to speak up omg
She’s speaking perfectly fine, adjust the volume on your device if you want to blow your ears out
Thanks for the feedback. I post-process the audio and normalize it/turn it down to avoid blowing out anyone's speakers or clipping the audio, but I'll try adjusting it by a few decibels next time.
coming from a chinese netizen we’re not trying to be imperialist, but our netizens have been especially sensitive towards cultural theft since the dior scandal. Personally I think Heya shouldn’t be flamed like that when you compare it to other more offensive things like wearing Hanfu instead of Hanbok in K-dramas (and calling it hanbok when it’s actually very obvious) and the ive HK concert on 7.7 (sorry but just like how you don’t have concerts in Poland on 9.1, you aren’t supposed to get people all excited and crazy on a day for mourning)
