Phra Dan (Bhante Dhammarakkhita, Bhikkhu) is a Theravada Buddhist Monk who lived in India from 2020, Thailand and now Sri Lanka. Born in Sussex, England in 1967. Educated by French Catholic Monks. A successful businessman in Estate Agency and Financial Services during the 1980's and 90's. Married, now divorced with 3 adult son's. 2000 marked change and travel including South Africa returning to the UK in 2003 to continue different work and business activities until 2012. Gradually materialistic values turned to renunciation, simplicity and meditation, living nomadically in an old Ford Transit van full time for 3 years. Van life and meditation led to Buddhism and a Thai Forest Tradition, Theravada Buddhist Monastery in the UK. During 2015 travelling the Buddhist Holy Sites of India, deep faith reinforced desire for Ordination. In 2020 after 5 years of intensive meditation practice between Thai Forest Monasteries in Thailand and England he was Ordained in India where he lived for 3 years until returning to Thailand in 2023 and now Sri Lanka.

Thank you. At this moment in my life, I’m more interested in meditation than watching television or socialising. I was just about to go meditate. Then a friend texted and asked if I want to watch a movie with him in virtual reality. Now I don’t know what to do. Oh dear.

🙏 Thank you venerable Ajahn for your precious guidance 🙏 I have a question, please, If everything is impermanent, subject to change, what created or maintaining the phenomenal world or Universe constantly and apparently for eternity??
Where do this constant energy moving all atoms, this perpetual cosmic vibration, this life force come from and isn't it immutable, permanent ??
Sorry to bother you, I've been asking myself those questions for so long now with no conclusive answer.
Sending you plenty of metta 💜 💜 💜
    Namo Buddhaya 🙏 🙏🙏

Hi, could you talk about energy centres, eg chakras or if there is a buddhist view point? I had a kundalini awakening ten years got and searching for answers. Thanks. Been listening to you nonstop 🙏🏻

It’s not part of Theravadan Buddhism. It’s Hinduism 🙏

In Theravada Buddhism there is no concept about kundallini or chakras at all.

How do I deal with intense anxiety during meditation? Sometimes it dominates my whole practice. On some occasions it’s not there and the practice is great.
Do you have any tips or have you spoken on this before?

Yes I often talk about anxiety as it is a commonly recognised form of suffering. Here are some:

To me meditation seems like a form of escapism. I've red stories about buddhist monks commiting suicide after realising trough meditation that they are actually not their bodies, and not finding any purpose in having a body anymore.
