I liked that they went over why Smith lost and what he could/should have done, it helps explain the meta of the game a bit. I hope they do it for the next two matches too
Nightsister is actually characters from the clone wars animated show. They do not specify which Nightsister and that was the time when Anakin was not turned to the dark side
yeah me neither but i love watching tom play cardgames cuz hes so good at it... i was really surprised when they said that it was a close game, i was like really? tom was having good combos and smith did almost nothing
I think (bear in mind I don't play this game) that Tom's deck was built around the idea of comboing while smith's was really just punch his dick out in 3 rolls and use various force powers to redirect and fuck around with his rolls, but the thing is since he had Rey out, the comboing got out of hand, still I think Han Solo was close to dying, but smith's roll were kinda subpar for the kind of dice he had on darth vader which could've meant that Tom's comboing would've ended earlier making it slightly easier to deal with him.
Here I am, watching this video, waiting for Tom and Smith to just look into each other's eyes and finally feel that spark between them. Watching them get excited talking about Star Wars, adorable. I've never seen Smith so smitten.
That.... Teapot... In the background. Its just triggered my memory banks of when I was a small child, like 3 years old! I had that exact looking teapot house toy. Wtffffff. The very look and thought of it was lost for eternity until this moment. I'm now 33 years old. 30 Years! Until now? I am speechless..... Thank you. Ps good game
Also can we get cameras on the dice they rolled, like the one on the main channel? I can barely see the dice and they're not very good at declaring them.
Every time you replace the heavy blaster with another the die from that card leaves the field and the new cards die goes on the card! He shouldn't have left the heavy in the field at least once and done damage! Shenanigans!!!!!!! 18:02 !!!!!
Wow, they actually got their hands on product for this game. That's pretty fucking impressive considering the huge supply issues. I was basically only able to get shit at the prerelease and release events.
I'm very unfamiliar with this game, and Tom would have won regardless, but when second chance was expended does "discard from play" mean the equivalent of exiled, or does it just mean go to equivalent of graveyard?
Why is Mark not involved at all in games night? Understandably he technically has a competing channel so he's not going to be a main feature, but if they're all the yogs "family" he should of at least been involved in this tournament
Fucking hell this was tense! Also amazing, never played this as a kid cause no moneyz for this AND magic/pokemon/yugioh, but always wanted to see it in action. Seems extremely fun. Though I got a random thought: "This game relies on dice rng, but still has less rng than Hearthstone."
So yeah, the story in the prequels with the Trade Federation and shit seemed dull and boring but you should watch Alex Jones summary of it. The guy may be on the insane end of the spectrum but he understood that film and the politics of it all.
I have 0 idea what's going on here.. After practically no introduction to the rules and me coming in drunk and sleepy, I have to pass on this at the 7 minute mark. :( Don't get me wrong though. I love this channel and the other (admittedly non card-game) content I absolutely love
lol I'm pretty hammered and it took me no effort at all to understand it. the dice have different things on them, shields, which protect from damage, resources, which are consumed to use upgrades and supports, melee and ranged damage, rather self-explanatory, and finally some of them have card specific things like the force throw. they are numbered from 1 to 3, and some of them are "+1-3" which means they can only be used in conjunction with a 1 to 3. they can also have a resource cost to activate, like the upgrades and supports. the key of the game seems to be rolling and re-rolling your dice in order to do certain things, and then spending those dice, returning them to your character. for instance smith was trying to roll damage so he re-rolled things like shields and resources. then there's all the fuckery that can be done, rerolling your opponents dice, using them against him, etc. I recommend you watch the lewis vs sips video on the main channel, they show a birds eye view of the die which helps understand what's going on better.
TheCornishGamers Because this is their tournament series of this game whereas sips and lewis was just for fun to show off the game to inspire people to come to this channel to watch more
Just Darth Vader could have easily beat Han Solo and Rey with one hand behind his back. Especially Rey who doesn't have any experience with a light saber and has near no practice with the force.
Only after Anakin Skywalker who was also a Mary Sue from the age of like 9 and was better than everyone at everything he did including building robots and flying a bright yellow spaceship. That is also not mentioning that for 3 of those movies he was in basically a permanent full body cast/coffin and could still kill everyone while looking like he was briskly walking to get some mc donalds breakfast before they stopped serving it in 10 minutes.
+balthierg, But Anakin isn't a Mary Sue. The term implies he is perfect in every way, yet he had so much wrong with him that he ended up turning to the dark side. Remember that bit?
TigerVent The card says it can, it doesnt specify the users die and if thats the case, why on earth would that card exist? 'Remove this die to turn one of your die to a blank' so stupid
TigerVent I just read it and youre right when talking about using a focus die, but smith used the cards ability which was something along the lines of 'remove this cards dice to change the face of any dice to a blank'
TigerVent Immobilize: Action = Remove this die to turn a die to a side showing a blank What Smith did: 1. Played the card down for a cost of 2 resources (5:01) 2. Places die that immoblize uses on the card itself (5:08) 3. Its cut in the video but Smith rolls the two dice (That of the Nightsister and the Immobolize) (5:59) 4. Removes Immobolize die from play (by taking it off the field and placimg it back on the card) (6:00) 5. Rotates one of Tom's die (6:01)
More entertaining than Lewis and Sips. Lewis manages to suck out the fun from these kinds of games due to his over explanation of everything rather than enjoying it as much. Much prefer the role-play stuff you all do thought, that's top notch.
The "rey doesn't have a son" improve joke was gold.
Every time I see the Necronomicon in the background I can't help but laugh. Thanks Lewis.
Kay There's one on the top of the shelf and one behind Smith, good guy lewis really did replace it.
Yeah I saw his reply on Reddit! :D
remind me.. what is so comical about it?
+Fjd Gaming Productions Lewis ripped out a page during Everyone is John
hahahahaha
1:49 "To prove to the cameras", cuts away from them shuffling.
My two favorites in one room. FUCK YES. More please.
Having these two in a video is great, they work well together
play more of this. its sick and very enjoyable to watch
+Daedric Dewi Do people not say sick anymore?
"I hope my son doesn't kill me... no, Rey doesn't have a son". What a great spoiler save by Tom! xD
*Tom just doing like 7 actions*
Smith: *does one action*
I'm sorry, but that was hilarious. xD
Can we have a show where Smith and Tom just sarcastically talk about Star Wars prequels?
I would watch the shit out of that.
4:25 I think that's a picture of Ameebo throwing a rock at Officer Biro...
GhazPlays. Oh, I thought it was greedo at a dance party
i love how its only 5 mins in and smith is already holding back tears bless him he was not prepared to face gamelord tom
Summon Blue-eyes Krayt Dragon!
Summon Dark Nightsister
I know I'm late but thank you for the Garth Marenghi's Darkplace reference, Smith it's one of my favs
Is anyone else reminded of Chaotic when they saw this game?
As in the old tv show/card game screwed by a legal battle.
I think Im gonna enjoy this series just because smith is there!
i have no idea what is going on but it looks fun :D
I know you guys collect warhammer behind the scenes please, please, please, do some fanatacy/40k battle reports if your not planning them aready
Never heard of this game before and i have 0 clue what is going on here....
yeah me neither but i love watching tom play cardgames cuz hes so good at it... i was really surprised when they said that it was a close game, i was like really? tom was having good combos and smith did almost nothing
Go watch Mark Hulmes' tutorial on it.
Here I am, watching this video, waiting for Tom and Smith to just look into each other's eyes and finally feel that spark between them.
Watching them get excited talking about Star Wars, adorable. I've never seen Smith so smitten.
I have been waiting for this, hoping it would happen!
That....
Dark Place was fucking hilarious, nice reference smitty
I fucking love Tom
Tom wants to play thematic deck
(Actually plays top tier deck)
Illusion 100
Tom: Says Force Awakens is the best movie after Revenge of the Sith
Also Tom: Doesn't know what the third prequel movie is
to be fair though, it is part of the prequel trilogy.
Can we get more of this with Smith? He's fucking awesome to watch.
That cheeky Garth Marenghi's Darkplace meme.
Tom and Smith together are such great complimentary personalities. I could watch these guys doing just about anything. Even like kissing.
tom loves the force awakens
There's a red X on the transition 1:51 you can see it for a split second.
After the first 5 minutes I was like 'toms gonna win this isn't he'
*Spoilers*
Called it
Also can we get cameras on the dice they rolled, like the one on the main channel?
I can barely see the dice and they're not very good at declaring them.
Tom's the man!
Someone PLEASE make some custom cards from there starwars dnd, like Ameebo or OFFICER BIROOOOOO
Every time you replace the heavy blaster with another the die from that card leaves the field and the new cards die goes on the card! He shouldn't have left the heavy in the field at least once and done damage! Shenanigans!!!!!!! 18:02 !!!!!
But didn't he replace the heavy blaster... with a heavy blaster? So it'd be the same die? (He asks, four months later. :P)
Naetoid it would be the same, but not in play in this round
Revenge of the Sith is beast, love it so much
Wow, they actually got their hands on product for this game. That's pretty fucking impressive considering the huge supply issues. I was basically only able to get shit at the prerelease and release events.
Tom is probably my favorite person in the world. I wish we were best friends.
marenghi's darkplace mention.
Smith: My cards are getting tatty
*every MTG player* : GET F*CKING CARD SLEEVES
"Not that that happens. Rey doesn't have a son." I think Tom knows something we don't!
nice i was hoping you guys were going to play this
They have two copies of the necronomocon in the background.
You guys should try the Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures game - me and my friends play it and it's pretty engaging and fun. You'd probably love it.
The Hats played it with Mark during a Stream in Sep/Oct last year. It might be on one of the live channels.
I'll see if I can find it - thank you m'dude
My two favorite Yogs! Smith and Tom!
Buy some freaking card sleeves!! Arggh Stresses me out everytime!! :)
YES MORE PLEASE
You guys really need to sort out a light above the table in that room. Too dark to see what's going on.
im pretty sure "remove from play" means you don't add it to your discard pile and instead it just becomes out of play for the rest of the game.
Rwby Rose if this was yugioh
why do you kept switching cameras whenever smith looks at it lol
Nice. love games night
Shiiiiiet. I was looking at getting in to this, it seems pretty fun and different. Might go pick it up!
skyhybrid lol. Good luck!
Haha, yeah. Out of stock or overpriced, those are your choices.
wait, i think there is a misplay. at 6:00 you claimed a resource after activating rey. that is 2 actions already
TBF, the actual Clone wars is awesome though
Forgot to use Darth Vader's discard ability
nice netdecking tom
Starts shuffling to prove to the camera, cuts to post shuffle. Hmmmm ^.-
I'm very unfamiliar with this game, and Tom would have won regardless, but when second chance was expended does "discard from play" mean the equivalent of exiled, or does it just mean go to equivalent of graveyard?
Discarding from play just means it goes to the discard pile (the equivalent of the graveyard)
"Best next to Revenge of the Sith." Tom... Attack of the clones is so much better.
When you guys do a new game like this can you explain how it work first please? It's hard to enjoy it, when I have no idea what's going on.
Why is Mark not involved at all in games night? Understandably he technically has a competing channel so he's not going to be a main feature, but if they're all the yogs "family" he should of at least been involved in this tournament
Al Smithy is my spirit animal ✌️
....
...So it's just like Duel Monsters?
where's the star war's rpg?
Can we have some deck profiles for these decks?
Confirmed han solo = reaper from overwatch
Tom just wrecks everyone at card games
Fucking hell this was tense! Also amazing, never played this as a kid cause no moneyz for this AND magic/pokemon/yugioh, but always wanted to see it in action. Seems extremely fun.
Though I got a random thought: "This game relies on dice rng, but still has less rng than Hearthstone."
So yeah, the story in the prequels with the Trade Federation and shit seemed dull and boring but you should watch Alex Jones summary of it. The guy may be on the insane end of the spectrum but he understood that film and the politics of it all.
Star Wars episode 3 was fantastic.
25 minutes of Yogscast playing a Star Wars card game is immensely more entertaining than the entirety of The Force Awakens...
What's that giant fish thing in the backround
it hurts me to see him shuffle his unsleaved deck.
what happened to new episode? i saw new episode yesterday with sjin playing stormtroopers but its not on the channel anymore...anyone ?
It's on main channel
Should really have been showing the dice rolls
Dice Boys?
I have 0 idea what's going on here..
After practically no introduction to the rules and me coming in drunk and sleepy, I have to pass on this at the 7 minute mark. :(
Don't get me wrong though. I love this channel and the other (admittedly non card-game) content I absolutely love
I would love to at least know what the dice mean... I could look it up but it's nearly 11pm and I'm sleepy... And I really don't want to read :P ....
lol I'm pretty hammered and it took me no effort at all to understand it. the dice have different things on them, shields, which protect from damage, resources, which are consumed to use upgrades and supports, melee and ranged damage, rather self-explanatory, and finally some of them have card specific things like the force throw. they are numbered from 1 to 3, and some of them are "+1-3" which means they can only be used in conjunction with a 1 to 3. they can also have a resource cost to activate, like the upgrades and supports. the key of the game seems to be rolling and re-rolling your dice in order to do certain things, and then spending those dice, returning them to your character. for instance smith was trying to roll damage so he re-rolled things like shields and resources. then there's all the fuckery that can be done, rerolling your opponents dice, using them against him, etc.
I recommend you watch the lewis vs sips video on the main channel, they show a birds eye view of the die which helps understand what's going on better.
Aha. It was much easier to understand after watching the Lewis/Sips game on the main channel. Thanks for the tip. :D
No problem man. I find it hilariously coincidental that we both happened to be drunk before watching this video hahaha
Balthor not too much of a coincidence. I think most adults who watch the yogs drink away their loneliness quite frequently.
I have a feeling if Smith claimed just once he would have won
How do you get different card backs like Tom's?
Callum Jones card sleeves, I'm guessing
Ameebo Cameo at 04:28 :b
wheres edge of empire
Simon has been ill, so they haven't been able to record more at the moment. They've said it'll return when he's better again.
what with
nobody have told us
love
Any plans for some yugioh matches?
Why isn't Lewis and sips video on this channel??
TheCornishGamers proba for advertising purposes
TheCornishGamers Because this is their tournament series of this game whereas sips and lewis was just for fun to show off the game to inspire people to come to this channel to watch more
smith x tom
Just Darth Vader could have easily beat Han Solo and Rey with one hand behind his back. Especially Rey who doesn't have any experience with a light saber and has near no practice with the force.
If only, Rey is a Mary Sue and the most powerful character in the star wars universe because of shitty writing.
Only after Anakin Skywalker who was also a Mary Sue from the age of like 9 and was better than everyone at everything he did including building robots and flying a bright yellow spaceship. That is also not mentioning that for 3 of those movies he was in basically a permanent full body cast/coffin and could still kill everyone while looking like he was briskly walking to get some mc donalds breakfast before they stopped serving it in 10 minutes.
balthierg there's just some people who are born with unrealistic talents :3 Anakin isn't comparable to rey...
Just because the lightsaber fights in the original triology looked like an errol flynn movie from the 30s.
+balthierg, But Anakin isn't a Mary Sue. The term implies he is perfect in every way, yet he had so much wrong with him that he ended up turning to the dark side. Remember that bit?
this game seems dumb, because i am dumb
I kinda want Magic the Gathering please, I beg you!
Oí where's starwers roleplay
No idea what this game is :)
shmithandtom
It said remove from PLAY! Not Discard! REMOVE FROM PLAY! Ssssalty!
the discard pile is not in play.
Ohhhh. My bad
5:58-6:02 ERROR?? A FOCUS DIE CANNOT BE USED TO CHANGE AN OPPONENTS DIE FACE!
page 9 of rules 1.2
TigerVent The card says it can, it doesnt specify the users die and if thats the case, why on earth would that card exist? 'Remove this die to turn one of your die to a blank' so stupid
Noah Duncan the card refers to YOUR actions. read the manual for clarification. as I pointed out! PAGE 9 OF VERSION 1.2 OF THE RULEZ.
TigerVent I just read it and youre right when talking about using a focus die, but smith used the cards ability which was something along the lines of 'remove this cards dice to change the face of any dice to a blank'
You would be right, but that is not what he did in this situation. I didnt' see him discard.
TigerVent Immobilize: Action = Remove this die to turn a die to a side showing a blank
What Smith did:
1. Played the card down for a cost of 2 resources (5:01)
2. Places die that immoblize uses on the card itself (5:08)
3. Its cut in the video but Smith rolls the two dice (That of the Nightsister and the Immobolize) (5:59)
4. Removes Immobolize die from play (by taking it off the field and placimg it back on the card) (6:00)
5. Rotates one of Tom's die (6:01)
when he keeps saying darth i think of darth maul not drth vader
The prequels were great
"the best film after revenge of the sith" what the fuck tom
Chick3nluvver it was sarcasm
More entertaining than Lewis and Sips. Lewis manages to suck out the fun from these kinds of games due to his over explanation of everything rather than enjoying it as much. Much prefer the role-play stuff you all do thought, that's top notch.
oh my... NO SLEEVES!... NM. I see them now
your cheap tricks and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster by your side.
