Yes! Not many realize that failure means you don't have the responsibility of maintaining or upholding success. For example, if you win a competition, then you also have to play the part of being a champion. You have to defend your title when challenged. You have a responsibility that is often more heavy than the challenge of attaining that very accomplishment. You know that Spider-Man proverb, "With great power comes great responsibility." That responsibility can become a burden, limiting your freedom.
That is a good line. Makes me try new things and even if i fail it don’t matter because there is freedom in it. Lauren makes a simple lyric very thought provoking. She seems like a very intelligent person.
How does CHVRCHES always put out what I call "end credit music"? Like, it's all great, but all of it sounds like an end credits theme for whatever media I just enjoyed. It's a weird, cool, feeling.
I'd posit it's because it's a fairly anthemic song? With large rolling melodies and rhythms, and positive sounding chords and tune. Plus the way they build to the chorus. Idk, but I love this kind of music!
I knew about Chvrches through the end credit song of the game death stranding. Beautiful game and beautiful song..can’t think of any better song for this game..
I’m an absolutely huge bloke with a beard who drives a truck and has tattoos… and Chvrches is the only band that can touch me emotionally deep inside my soul. That voice is just too beautiful.
I'm also a metalhead (more like a Prog metal/rock dude) and a drummer and I love chvrches to death. I often play their songs with some prog elements, improvising and shit. U should try it too!
ah yes, the absolutely unique, never before seen comment of a metalhead having to clarify he's a metalhead before saying they love anything not metal related
The 1980's spans the decades, it transcends time and space. Chvrches is one of the wormholes to that most magical of decades, the decade of my youth. The dream dies hard.....
I love my home of California but this song really captures that fact that not all dreams lead to success. People have come here for centuries chasing dreams and we always hear of those who “made it” but for those who failed, this song perfectly describes that feeling of giving up a lot to chase your dreams which may not come true. But I’ve always got respect for people who try to chase their dreams because at least you tried instead of doing nothing
This group has the talent of the 80's like new order and depeche mode, I'm glad not all the music of this era is lost, the fitst time I listened to Chvrches I fell in love with this band. Keep it up with the great music!!!
Met you guys thanks to Mirror's Edge and have loved your music ever since. My life has been so much better thanks to you sharing it with the world. Thank you so much.
As a Californian I approved this song. Kinda like Grimes' California, it has a negative portrayal of my beloved state, but I love it nonetheless. God bless this mess indeed. Also this is the third track of the album and I speculate that this is one of their strongest song for this album or a track that the band really likes. (this is my first time listening to this album)
This is my favorite one on the album. I have a story about guardian angels inspired by Chvrches' music... This one makes me picture the main character angel crying, as the human she guarded all her life ages to death. She will outlive her love by centuries.
What an amazing song. This, How not to Drown, and Asking for a Friend are my favorites, but the whole album is fantastic. CHVRCHES never fails to deliver!! Can't wait to see you guys in Houston!!
Just thank you. This new album made my day. It was raining and to this music, it would seem, in such a sad and gray weather, I was able to enjoy life like a child. Electronic music combined with Lauren's unique vocals takes your consciousness somewhere beyond our understanding 🔥
I don't understand why this song hasn't been released as a single, especially with CHVRCHES touring the US a second time, presently. This song is very catchy and a highlight of Screen Violence. You'd think Alt 98.7 and KROQ would eat this up.
Going to work, thinking how messy my life have become since I've trying to hold on everything together even all the things still falling apart. And then come Chvrches with this song, this hole album, that's my soundtrack. And all that I need
My favourite song from the album. And the whole album is a masterpiece. It has nostalgic vibes and something sad and hopeful at the same time. Love it!
Screen Violence is offically Chvrches best album 1. Better if u dont 2. Lullabies 3. How not to drown 4. Violent delights 5. Final girl 6. California 7. He said, she said 8. Nightmare 9. Asking for a friend 10. Good girls
@@Apvizionz ha! I knew i wouldn't be alone. Love old maiden.. Helloween are my band though. Love chvrches... It's something to do with the songwriting and song structuring that relates to metal music. It's obvious the chvrches guys are serious musicians 😉🤘

Felt it in the 80s. That's why we are back with Lauren born again to spread the word that California is dying. As an American it's sad but a complete failure on their government. Let's pray for them with with beautiful music!
Hands down the best track in the album, followed closely by Good Girls, How Not To Drown and Violent Delights, can't wait to see them live on November 30 in Washington, DC.
'No one ever tells you there's freedom in the failure' that was such a powerful line… just WOW!
That line really hooked me! It’s beautiful

This album is fucking wizardry and you can't convince me otherwise. Holy shit YES.
I can’t even wait for the deluxe
Possibly they're best offering to date - Can't wait to see them next year.
absolutely right 🥰
Best album of 2021

it's a combination of easy listening and modern pop
I knew about Chvrches through the end credit song of the game death stranding. Beautiful game and beautiful song..can’t think of any better song for this game..
Look up.Dream Pop as a genre. It all sounds like end credits. Cocteau Twins started it I think
I’m an absolutely huge bloke with a beard who drives a truck and has tattoos… and Chvrches is the only band that can touch me emotionally deep inside my soul.
That voice is just too beautiful.
please scream out the lyrics as you go 55 down the highway with your big rig. I will support your spirit.
I feel ya brotha. I'm the same way. Testosterone levels are high, but her voice is just something else. Strikes a chord somewhere deep within.
I’m a 5’10 man who occasionally rides a bicycle. No tattoos but I do have a small beard. I also enjoy Chvrches.
best. comment. ever.
The last part 'To the screen at the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-e-e-e-e-end" is probably the most beautiful moment on the album. CHILLS.
Absolutely agree
I will never be as cool as the V in CHVRCHES
OMG
V is for Vendetta
Or Pvris
Ahahaha excellent
This album is everything we hoped for and more ❤️❤️❤️
It truly is. So many catchy bangers
And more
All about Violent Delights for me😆
@@johnemm7680 violent delights is my favorite sv song i just can't stop listening 🖤
Honestly i like lullabies
Wow.. Just wow. I'm a metal head & drummer, but their music, their sound. This album is fantastic.
Nice to see a fellow metal head around. Iron Maiden and Chvrches are my two fav bands.
It's so weird how us rockers love this band but we do. It's the musical genius.
3rd to the party. Rocker too. I think being a 80s teen helps (it has that 80s vibe)

Beautiful.
It's better to try than to dwell over the fact that we didn't try for sure
Um. It’s about horror movie tropes.
the only way to truly fail is to not even try imho

That's right, "clearest blue" from Chvrches sounds very similar to "I just can't get enough" from Depeche mode.
Robert Smith must have blessed this album. What a journey into the depths of ones soul!
IKR! I'm convinced this album was his secret project.
This album is perfection. This track is sweet pain.
This, He Said She Said, Violent Delights and Killer are bangers. Banger album
Met you guys thanks to Mirror's Edge and have loved your music ever since. My life has been so much better thanks to you sharing it with the world. Thank you so much.
This is my most favorite song on the entire album. Album 4 is just amazing!!! It's definitely the perfect dream come true.
This song is so beautiful, the entire album is pure art
The album grows on you. To begin with the first listens, this song seems to be sticking with me most. What a beautiful song.
Lyrically, this might be the best thing they've ever written...
They never wrote a word nor did they compose any of it.....that's how it works!

"your voice was so beautiful" the way she sings it just omg so beautiful
Love this song!
I’ve lived in Los Angeles for the last 8 years. This song is spot on.
There aren’t enough adjectives to explain how brilliant Chvrches’ music is! Never thought I’d encounter a band that truly speaks to my heart❤️
I love Chvrches sooo much and this new album is mindblowingly good... Lauren's voice is so heavenly T_T.

California by Grimes
And California by 88rising
And California by Lana Del Rey.
This is devastatingly good, my brain is broken ;__;
dying in a dream feels like home, some lyrics i can really relate too 💙💙💙
Verse 1]
Waste a month, waste a year
Waste the time you could've been here
Count the debt, count the tears
Count the truths and all of my fears
[Pre-Chorus 1]
I didn't want to be cynical
Passing place for the soul
You were never predictable
Now I need to let it go
[Verse 2]
Found the song, played it back
Heard your voice under the feedback
Found a tape that was blank
Saw your face fading into black
[Pre-Chorus 2]
I know love is delusional
And I hate when I'm wrong
Yours was never conditional
And now I need to get it gone
[Chorus]
No one еver warns ya
You'll die in California
Falling in a dream, you lеt, let go
No one ever seems to say, say so
No one ever tells ya
There's freedom in the failure
Dying in a dream feels like home
No one ever seems to say, say so
[Verse 3]
Close my eyes, close my heart
Close the book I never meant to start
Say your name in the dark
No one said it would be this hard
[Pre-Chorus 3]
I didn't go to the funeral
Heard you cry on the phone
Your voice was so beautiful
And now I need to let it go
[Chorus]
No one ever warns ya
You'll die in California
Falling in a dream, you let, let go
No one ever seems to say, say so
No one ever tells ya
There's freedom in the failure
Dying in a dream feels like home
No one ever seems to say, say so
[Bridge]
God bless this mess that we made ourselves
Pull me into the screen at the end and
God bless this mess that we made for ourselves
Pull me into the screen at the end
[Outro]
Pull me into the screen at the end
Pull me into the screen at the end
To the screen at the end
