More than 40 years since I first heard this song it still gives me goosebumps. It is truly a historical song that generations to come will still listen to. I thank God that I have lived to see all the 4 post independence presidents of Kenya and hope to see the 5th. Forever proud to be kenyan 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
A
40+ gang🙋. Just came here to agree with you. Forever proud. 💝✌
Written and composed by a luo.
@@segebwege4132 It is my pride that this patriotic song is still in the record
I would suggest that the ministry of culture of Kenya to due weight to the song and make it compulsory to be sang in all community gatherings especially at schools, it very sensational and the composer of the song be rewarded accordingly if ever he is still alive ,I know he is a Luo ,and these men (luos) are really good in music
The song is a national heritage and should the sung before news broadcast or shortly before big events like speeches by head of state, when Kenyan National team plays
Though I'm from Tanzania ,still I find it relevant as if it was composed for our father of Nation the late Julius Kambarage Nyerere
Big up Mr Ondigo the composer
Lyrics to the song
Wimbo huu ni wimbo wa historia watu wote mnaombwa msikize kwa makini
Ilikua oktoba 52 watu wote tulisikia kenyatta ameshikwa
Hakushikwa kenyatta peke yake lakini alishikwa na mabigwa wa uhuru
Oooooh ooohh ooohhh
Asante baba wetu kweli we asante baba wetu
Thank you
God bless you MABARAK MABARAK

Growing up in the 1970s and 1980s no Kenyatta Day was complete without this song Wimbo wa Historia written by Mwalimu Enock Ondego and originally sang by the Mwakigwena Choir from what is now Kwale County at the Coast.
Leyla Mohammed, a school girl was later to give life to the song some years back.

Thanks so much choir master odego for sweat song to our country.its so sad that this mzee is poor and he's blind .
Sorry where is he?,the choir master mzee?
A very touching legendary song that is a poignant reminder of how far we have come as a nation. I remember as a child in nursery school this song would make me shade tears. I didn't know why the song would move me to tears but today I now understand it is the sobering reminder of the pride in me as a Kenyan. Let me book this space to register my gratitude to our late Father of the Nation and all the Fallen Heroes who sacrificed so much for us and our beloved nation. We may not have attained all that we would wish to attain as Nation. but I Thank God for where we have come from and where we are today . Cheers
Some more tears ruclips.net/video/9y3MLoQJFyU/видео.html

This song is so emotional, God bless Kenya
And as per rumours, they died in a car crash after recording this song. I grew up listening to this song every 12 December since 1972. The joining Kanu, coming back with Katiba and independence in 1963 makes me tear. But it's raising the flag in 1964 that finishes me. Yes, from then on, every time the Kenyan flag is raised, it's because we are not being honoured but identified as giants. That old man instilled in us the attitude of winning. Best athletes, first controversial and only Nobel prize winner for matters nature conservation, we even sired America's first black president, A teacher priest from Kenya made us proud, our Kenyan girl made Whitney Houston's vocals sound like crap ....etc. You must be a Kenyan to understand the passion and hidden message behind this song.
Nops...still alive they performed the other day at nyayo stadium... according to there story they said it's only one woman who died like two years back
they are alive makongweno choir..sad the teacher who composed this song is blind mr odera...
@@briangeke4784 these people needs to be properly paid for this song
