Dear Emma, I started learning watercolor painting in Dec of 2021 at age 74 with NO prior art education. Through 2022 your RUclips channel was one of my chief sources of inspiration and guidance. My New Year resolution for 2023 was to learn and paint the birth flower of each month along with this series. I make enough to send to people on my 'Hospice support' list and to members of my church celebrating birthdays that month. Some months I've made up to 20 individual paintings - lots of practice. This week I will start preparing the Dec Holly -- 12 months of flowers. THANK YOU. Also, for Christmas last year I was given the gift of your monthly Craftamo boxes. I'm eagerly awaiting the final 12th box. What a wonderful year of learning different brushes, mixing and blending colors to create lovely paintings of subjects somewhat pertinent to each month. Again, THANK YOU.
What your art has done for you in terms of reducing your own stress you have also managed to pass on to your viewers. That translates into sharing you confidence level and mastery, which is what has helped me. I've been drawing for more than 50 years but was always afraid of color, until I found your videos. Thank you!
Between my cancer, Covid, and in my 70’s, I’ve been stuck at home this year. I can’t thank you enough for keeping me busy and my mind off of all the crap out there. I have enjoyed all your videos. Thank you for rescuing me this year. Looking forward to next years ideas. Stay healthy and Gods Blessings always to you and your precious family!!!
I would love to see some fun "bird of the month" paintings in 2021, just for something different! Believe me, I'm all about the flowers, but I'm trying to branch out and maybe learn some simple birds on branches paintings. Just a thought! But anything you do I will watch and attempt to paint!
Good morning Emma, I am a new viewer to your tutorials and am enthralled with your style and approach to watercolours. I very much agree with you, in that anyone can paint no matter the medium used, or style considered. We may be a Monet, a Constable or a Lowry. How can we know until we try! But we all find our own niche in art and run with it. After reading the comments on many of your tutorials I see many, many enthusiastic folk whom are creating their own versions of your demonstrations and discovering that they can indeed ‘paint’. I would like to say to anyone beginning with creating ...” if at first you don’t succeed try again” ....and again....and again. Don’t give up. ☺️ We never stop learning, art is a continual process creating. Thank you Emma for encouraging others to create and that you have not gone down the route of ‘Patreon’ and made yourself exclusive to only those whom can afford to patronise. Art, needs and should be shared freely. Of course the benefits come when you are able to sell your work to those whom choose to acquire your works. From one artist to another, thank you Emma and never stop creating. Our abilities can remain hidden until we begin, if you never start, you will never know! 🌹
I want to say thanks for the monthly flower lessons.. I have a daily /art journal that I do each day... and at the beginning of each month I draw the flower...so thanks again I’ve appreciated it❣️
I like the bird idea too! Emma, thank you so much for helping us all to get through this difficult and crazy year! You have been a blessing in my life! You are amazing !
I have thoroughly enjoyed your birth month flower series. I do want to use one of my watercolor sketch books and fill it with flowers, not only birth month flowers, as soon as this month (and year) is over. Thanks for all the flowers you show us how to paint!
Thanks, Emma for the birth month flower tutorials. I had already been doing birth month flower cards for my friends when I discovered your channel. I was just doing them from reference photos, but it helped so much to have your tutorials. Thanks again!
Thank you for a very enjoyable and challenging year. I’ve always wanted to learn to watercolor and when I found your birth flower of the month in March as COVID was taking over everything I decided this was the time and project. I started a notebook and now it is filled with beautiful flowers and a bonus is that I have learned to draw also. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for 2021...my notebook is waiting!
I just saw this for the 1st time since I just found you. I actually found myself shaking my head in awe at how beautiful that Holly came out! I can't thank you enough!! I found you less than one month ago and quickly made some Christmas cards with your guidance. Everyone is amazed at how they turned out but I really have to give you the credit for your talent but also your teaching ability!! I'm hooked forever!!! Merry Christmas!
It makes so much sense! I'm learning so much from your tutorials. I can't thank you enough! I love your style and detailed explanation of the techniques that you use. Also, so glad you don't feel the need to talk constantly! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy listening to you! But it's relaxing to watch you paint and sketch! Thank you for sharing your talent so beautifully! 💕
Oh I love this. This turned out lovely. Just today I went out and got a few stems from my wild holly tree which is very wide and stands 9 feet. Now I can attempt to draw and paint. You draw so nicely.
THANK YOU, EMMA!! I’ve loved these birth month flowers! December is my birth month so thank you for choosing Holly because it’s my favorite for the holidays! 🥰🎄🙌🏽
Hi Emma, love your beautiful holly springs, especially the watercolour one. I'm going to have a try in my florals watercolour book I'm creating ( a small Paul Reubens watercolour book) . Thanks for sharing your fab artwork Lou xx
OMG Emma, they're beautiful. 🌿 My twin daughter's birth month is December (26th). I am going to do Holly on their cards this year. I love watching your videos. Thankyou ❤
Cats! I'd love to be able to draw or paint cats in different styles and poses. So many people love them, it'd be nice to be able to send cards etc. I've tried to copy some images, but it's harder than it looks to get the proportions and angles right :)
Oh Emma. Yooohoo, lol like the old ladies in older TV shows. Anyway I wanted to know if you might do a painting of Christmas ornaments? Just the round baubles. If you will, I didnt find any in your repertoire of paintings for RUclips. Did I miss it? I love the holly berries and leaves. I might give that a shot today since I, like the shapes of the leaves. You do a fabulous job as our teacher. Do you have an art degree Emma? You make my life so much more enjoyable. Happy Holiday
You are by far the best water color teacher on RUclips especially for the new painter. I am always so amazed at how easy you make everything look. The one thing, I would like to know, is how can I find your first videos to start as a new painter? Keep all your videos coming especially in this awful time of COVID-19. Just watching you teach has kept from going into a deep depression. Thank you so much. I am finally ready to start. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas.
I thoroughly enjoyed painting the Holy leaves and berries,a great tutorial brought out on my birthday...you are a generous and wonderful tutor....I have learned so much from you...where's your son ?He looks so calm like you...
Loved this. I've never tried to paint with water colours but every time l doodle it's always a holly leaf for some reason. Or sometimes a little wooden fence getting smaller in the distance. 😃
Hi Emma!!! I’d love for you to consider STATE FLOWERS!! I realize you have an International following but I figured you could always ask & add flowers from other countries. It would be great to learn about other states and countries as we went along!!
Love this. Was making cards today with holly but mine were too symmetrical I think and need more shading. Yours looks more natural. Gonna try this tomorrow. Oh and congratulations on 200K subscribers!
How about state Birds? Indiana is a cardinal and Michigan is a Robin. Since I was born in Indiana and now reside in Michigan, it would be a blast for me.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all your videos throughout the year. Lockdown has been amazing because of you. May your feastive season be safe and merry and I look forward to seeing what you bring us in 2021 xxx
Thank you so much for the wonderful lessons! I am new to watercolor and have a question about the purple you added to the green. Your link calls it dioxazine purple but when I click the the link Amazon calls it dioxazine violet. Are these the same color? I have been struggling with getting a green that is not too yellow and not to blue and your color looks just about right! Thank you again. I am loving this!
