    "Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
    Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done!

    Ok, Crazy IDEA that only you would try. Build an holder for the winch to fit the front forks, then you can have the back hitch attached to an anchor point as it is tied the the frame and the frame is all steel so it shouldn't break....

    Anchoring the winch to another tree and not the tractor. That would work great for pulling them upon the landing. Then you can move them around with the tractor.

    My family used to do Heavy Horse logging here in England. Exact same process you’re doing with the small tractor and long winch to avoid destroying the forest, but using big horses instead of the machinery. Minimal destruction, no noise, no welding. Perhaps that’d be an exciting new development for your homestead? 😊

  • @waitingonmarc
    @waitingonmarc 28 дней назад +3

    Build a heavy duty offroad trailer to mount the wench on and then tow the trailer with the tractor to your destination and then anchor the trailer. The failure points would only be the anchor point, the wench and wench mount if tied together correctly. You could tow the trailer with a car or ATV as well and you could still use the vehicle as an anchor point but it would be better to use a fixed point.

    What's up Kevin? Watching from New Mexico, USA, of all places lol. Been watching for awhile now, enjoy your videos, never commented before, but.... Ive got an idea for the tractor/winch situation. What if you designed something of substantial weight that has some kind of ground anchor/drag, that you could use with the forks on the front of your tractor. It would give you some added weight and ground contact, enough to help you winch heavier objects without the risk of pulling the tractor apart. Just a thought. Have a good one man! What you really need is a three pint linkage on the back of the tractor and the winch mounted on that with a wedge that you can lower. Plus it puts pressure on more points of the tractor. And will help eliminate the tractor as much and allow some height control on the winch as well.
