Moonbyul is the rapper and the most credited female idol writer in kpop with over 120 songwriting credits but they can all rap and sing. Mamamoo always stand in the same order. The members are from left to right, Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein and Hwasa.

I loved your reaction. The Immortal Songs medley is in my opinion the single best vocal performance in K-pop and possibly the entire pop world. Killing Voice is awesome and it's all their own songs rather than covers but it's not better than this. After you've watched more of their material you will eventually want to watch their F/W 4 Seasons/4 Colors concert, possibly the best concert ever. Before you get too far in you will want to watch a guide. My favorite is the Purple Hawk guide which has the most about the individual members. The Moo_Yt guide is also very good and is more up to date and better for the group as a whole. There is also Why Mamamoo is most Underated Group (ignore the title), which is a very good essay that includes more about their impact on the industry. Moonbyul (in the grey suite) is the rapper. Solar (in the pink suite) is the leader. Wheein is in the tan suite and Hwasa is in the black. I think the word you were looking for is raspy or husky.
Agreed. As much music as I have listened to, this is the only performance I listened to repeatedly. I must have listened to it over 50 times in the first month, and hundreds of times now. And I still get chills during Way to Sampo.
Mamamoo are something special, they transcend the kpop world... top class artists, incredible vocalists. I sadly also got to know them late in their careers so I've never had the chance to see them live but thankfully there's videos like these that just prove how incredible they are as performers as well. All around talent, pure goofs in their moments, they're simply 4 awesome humans who got together to grace us with their skills for music and many more things, glad to see you enjoy!
Yes!!! I became a fan about a month after they came to the US last year, so I'm late to the fandom. I'm so disappointed because I would have been at that concert.

I consider Mamamoo to be the best girl group of all time in any language, country or musical era. The rumor that Mamamoo are aliens has never been confirmed but you do have to wonder why two of the members are called Solar and Moonstar. :) Speaking of which, I think it's time to learn who's who. Mamamoo always stands in the same order from L to R: Moonbyul aka Moonstar (byul means star) - Main rapper. Also an excellent singer. Solar - Leader and eldest member. One of the most powerful female voices in kpop and an extremely emotional ballad singer. Wheein - Her breathy r&b style singing is often said to be sweet as honey. The backbone of Mamamoo's vocal line. Hwasa - Youngest member, aka The Fatal Maknae because her sultry voice makes everything she sings sound sexy. I wouldn't say their session on Dingo's Killing Voice series is better than this but of course they killed it. Imo their original performances of these songs on the singing competition tv show Immortal Songs 2 are better than the medley but the medley is an 11 minute tour de force performance that's really another thing altogether. These songs are all covers of classic (immortal) songs they rearranged in their own style for their appearances on the tv show. Mamamoo competed on Immortal Songs 14 times between 2015-19 and won 3 episodes, becoming the first girl group to win on the prestigious show and the first idol group of either gender to win multiple times. Back then Immortal Songs 2 was dominated by famous mainstream singers and the few kpop groups who were invited rarely did well in the competition. @@queenshipkpop YW! There are other videos of the Immortal Songs Medley but this is the first performance and it's the best one to watch because it was professionally filmed at a MMM concert in 2017. Though they owned the stage like seasoned veterans this was only the 5th concert of their career. You can also find fancams of the medley from a few of their 4 Seasons F/W concerts in 2019. They never recorded the medley or any of the covers they performed on the tv show.

This was partway through a 3-4 hour concert... Them having that energy to perform this is normal for them... as they still have a large number of songs to get through in their concert. I rate this medley higher than killing voice, Mainly, because Mamamoo are at another level with an audience... they feed off them, and give feedback, which generates more feedback that they feed from. Having a live band is icing on the cake too. I really wish Covid never happened, because who knows where they would be now, if they completed their plans for 2020... Performing at Couchella would have opened so many international doors for them.

Immortal songs is a contest in korea which they were both the first kpop group to win and then had the most wins of a single group for years. These are covers though moonbyul had to write all of the rap because the originals did not have it. They are known specifically as the best live vocal performers. Yes Solar can do those power belts live like that to the end of 4 hour concerts. She has some sort of super lungs but really they have said the practice and practice a lot, even sing while doing exercises like lunges and running so they can maintain perfect vocals while doing choreo. I have seen videos of them singing that well in a car on cellphone videos. Recently I saw someone post a video of editing software playing Solar's newest song But I and her singing live on a radio show they do record videos of that. She sang almost exactly like the recorded song, pitch and rhythm with only a couple of variations on ad libs. I saw them live last year in Los Angeles, they really can do this insane live singing, there are not many singers who can do this. Killing voice is better because it is their own songs. Another good one is Mamamoo Live Hits Collection from the Hwasa TV show, that includes a live band. And if you want to see an acapella with a dude providing a beatbox, they have a live version of their song um oh ah yeh which is acapella and about as perfect as it gets.
Very well about all but, in the 14 Immortal songs 2 performances, they made a own version of each old and important song in the Korean music history so, we must not demerite this!
And a funny point on the side since you want to watch their Killing Voice. It's the first Killing Voice ever and we have Solar to thank for it. Before that there was somehting called Killing Verse, but it was for rappers only. Solar ask so many times that they said yes to shut her up 😛 That's also the reason why their Killing Voice is much shorter than the other ones.

Solar was upset with her last Belt, because she had to stop moving to finish it... crazy woman, love her.

It's a program where participants reinterpret the songs and perform. The important thing is that not everyone can participate in this program. Because it is a program that contains respect, only talented singers are invited. Singers without singing skills cannot stand.
My favorite KPOP girl groups have excellent vocal skills and harmonies. In order my top 3 are 2NE!, Girls Generation and Mamamoo. For 2NE1 I recommend "Comme Back Home unplugged" performed at the memorial service for victims of the Sewol disaster. Also "Lonely." and "Clap Your Hands." Sorry but this is a dvd rip from their 2017 Moosical Curtain Call concert in Seoul and the full concert was under 2 hours.

My favorite KPOP girl groups have excellent vocal skills and harmonies. In order my top 3 are 2NE!, Girls Generation and Mamamoo. For 2NE1 I recommend "Comme Back Home unplugged" performed at the memorial service for victims of the Sewol disaster. Also "Lonely." and "Clap Your Hands." For Girls Generation I like the "The Boys" and "I Got a Boy." I enjoyed your comments.
