"The Crossing," (song and video) is based on the true story, written by Andrés Miguel Cervantes, of his father's journey crossing the U.S. - Mexican border with his brother, who died during the journey at the hands of the U.S. border patrol.
Andrés Miguel Cervantes is a Mexican- American singer songwriter based in San Francisco and San
    Diego, California.
Influenced by songwriters Leonard Cohen, Townes Van Zandt, Fred Neil, and Guy Clark, Andrés' lyrics
are distinctly his own, with beautiful, haunting images of landscapes both internal and external; stories of
traveling, searching, rambling, and experiencing the impermanence of life and love. Suffused with a
dreamlike, mysterious atmosphere, his complex songs are grounded in an honesty and simplicity that
make them timeless and deeply relevant. Songs inspired by memories of long drives with his father
through Sonora Mexico, along dusty dirt roads, and through the open planes of the Mexican Countryside.
The stories his father used to tell him, of picking strawberries as a child, coming to the United States for
a better life, and the price he paid for doing so, inspired many of these songs.
