Just a PSA, when mixing products you’re not quite sure work together harmlessly, be sure to wear protective gear in a well ventilated room- you never know if the stuff you mix might produce fumes or turn out harmful to your skin etc.
agreed, as a person who does so called experiments as a hobby. its also just important to look at the warning labels . (saved me from accidentally exploding stuff). also unless you've done this a lot there should ideally be someone else in the house for safety.
Doing a quick search, deadener appears to be comprised of organofunctional siloxane/silane, which appears to be a combo of silicone, oxygen, and a carbon-containing compound. Digging further, it looks like they’re used in healthcare, cosmetic and hair products, as well as other products. I did find an article discussing the silane in rapeseed oil, but I would NOT experiment with it personally without the proper chemical training.
Ooo that is fascinating, thanks for the research! I would love to find a DIY alternative for deadener but I definitely don't have enough experience or knowledge to do that safely.
hmmm my theory is that deadner is probably cured silicone made from small chain R groups (since the texture you described of it being oily and but odorless matches the desc of liquid silicone too) and each company sells it's own patented version which is why there's little information as to what the solution is. as the SiO part of the silicone is still allowed to chain up as is having a variety of R groups in the silicone would affect the final texture, could totally be wrong though!
That is so interesting, thank you!! The only thing I could find about deadener chemistry was a Reddit thread where someone also theorised it has something to do with the R group.
The elmers' squishy characters looked like they were so afraid of making the characters "too girly" that they accidentally designed characters with zero personality at all.
That's mentioned in the first video on elmers' squishies, it looks like they were going for more "gender neutral" characters but... failed. It's a bit disappointing, because there are plenty of examples of cute characters that aren't "too girly"
I often work with polymer clay, and i suggest to you to experiment to make squishies softer with liquid polymer clay softener. The two liquids look very identical, both with no smell and oily
Hii Maqaroon! I saw an ig creator (blanking on their name I’m sorry) put flocking powder onto silicone squishies to make them look plush-like. I think it’d be a cool idea to try since it’s a way to get rid of the stickiness while giving it a whole new look. I’m curious to see how long it would stay on the mochi squishy too
You can make paint that doesn’t come off easy by mixing clear gorilla glue and paint. You want the ratio to be as much glue as possible. I l dip the toothpick into the paint tube and mix that into a glue drop. I’m sure other glues would work but this is what I had.
I wonder if she's ever considered toy and craft design positions, she always finds ways to elevate these kits and this is whay i appreciate so much. Im a ling time viewer, like second sock plushie video viewer. I have stuck around for all these years because i truly love fhis detective detication 😅💕
how are they, a year later? I'm curious to know how they've held up after a year of squishing (or sitting on a shelf, gathering dust; both are good data points)
Joanna! I have a method i use for making clear, glittery squishies in the microwave with a perfect mochi texture that Id love to see utilized in a video! It makes the most aesthetic peices! You just have to buy either some clear glitter squishies or some clear squishy cubes if you want a totally clear peice (ill warn you, they are a bit harder to find than the glitter squishies but totally worth it!) Cut off any paint to preserve clarity and melt them down! You can even add some extra, loose glitter in before pouring them into the mold if youre quick enough! Just wanted to share this with you because i know you love clear, glittery aesthetic things! Let me know if you see this comment because id love this method to be used in a video, please tell me if you plan to use it! ❤
@@craftydemon529 You just get some standard Elmer's glue and put a few drops of acrylic paint in it and you put a tablespoon of the acrylic paint+Elmer's Glue in the Elmer's Squishies secret formula. But work fast! It cures quicker if you use this method. Mix the whole thing and then pour it into the mold. Wait an hour and demold it. I did this with red paint and pink paint, the pink squishies turned out normal, but the red ones were softer and stickier like hitohada gel. I don't know what I did to make the red squishies softer, but it just sorta happened.
I still have the two squishies I made from that kit plus a duck from the leftovers lol. I think most folks will need to go hunting online for the other since it's not a normal item to find.
If you have the chemical make-up(ex:H20)of the deadner from the manufacturer, I can use that with the one for the silicone and see how it compounds. That can help tell you how it works using chemical formulas if you want. It will make experimenting using deadner with other silicone products from different manufacturer that you use in your videos.🧐
She already has a lot of slime videos.Joanna has also a second channel called Cute life hacks where she stopped posting, but she also has a lot of slime DIYs there. The main recepi is : -white glue/wood glue/PVA glue -borax activator (a tea spoon of powdered borax, dissolved in 500ml water) You can find white glue in office supplies shops, or you can buy it in bulk in hardware stores. If you happen to live in the EU , borax is banned there totally.Instead of borax, you can use eye drops, contact lens solution or washing machine gel detergent. When using the eye drops method, before adding to glue, add 2 pinches of baking soda ( not baking powder).Same with the lens solution. I suggest you to not try the detergent method.I make slimes only with detergent and I find it often being hit and miss, depending on brands. The recipe: - 200 mls glue - one spoon of activator ( or baking soda and contact lens solution/ eye drops) - add colour, glitter or charms,beads- whatever you want Sorry for the long comment. Love your pfp
Hi, i enjoy watching your videos of making mochies.may i know where i can buy the raw materials because i want to make mochies at home.what is the easiest way to start for beginners? Thanks

I don’t know what you are talking about , but I do know I can learn from the videos. They still show some materials
@Alice.beaver they're saying that you should be careful when mixing different materials, because you never know what could happen
That’s very true safety first

I love that you use the same octopus mold for so many of your videos. It makes for an excellent way to compare things across videos 😊

@@estherstreet4582they should’ve just stuck to the usual mochi squishiest or something alike, it can still be fun and gender neutral characters

“It’s just a toy”
What moriah elizabeth would say:
*”they’re not toys, they are more of collectibles”*

Sorry for spelling errors no glasses lol 🥴
I love Elmer's Squishies!!! I still have some left to make from last year. Thank you so much for the helpful tips!!!😇😉🥰
I love your squishy making videos ❤
how are they, a year later? I'm curious to know how they've held up after a year of squishing (or sitting on a shelf, gathering dust; both are good data points)
So they didnt stick to your silicone molds? 🤔 ive always thought that silicone will stick to silicone no matter what 😮
I also thought so but there are many different types of silicone and Shore 00 seems to work fine with silicone putty molds.
Maybe it's actually more like "most silicone sticks to most silicone"? Lol or maybe even just some, I dunno

You can also color the Elmer's Squishies with acrylic paint. Preferably Apple Barrel acrylic. If you mess it up, it'll be squishier.
Do you mean by mixing it into the silicone?

I always watch your video because the way you speak is so satisfying 😊
I hate sticky squishies. Could you clarify if the 35% deadner squishy had a sticky texture? If so I might prefer the 25% mix
“zaza” 😭
I always appreciate you bringing science to these crafts!
So cool and informative!
one of them is named ZAZA??
Stoners have kids too I guess
Oh no 😂

I love mochies
My favorite squishy is a whale shape. It fits right in my palm, is round, and cute!
I love these so much
Only 25 likes but like 34k views. Deserves so much more
Id love to get into making these! It looks so fun, if I made one id probably do some form of dinosaur one or a slime of terraria lol
I love your channel!
Your videos are pretty fun to watch ❤
I still think the elmers molds look awesome
